Griffiths positivity for Bismut curvature and its behaviour along Hermitian curvature flows
In this note we study a positivity notion for the curvature of the Bismut connection; more precisely, we study the notion of Bismut-Griffiths-positivity for complex Hermitian non-Kähler manifolds. Since the Kähler-Ricci flow preserves and regularizes the usual Griffiths positivity we investigate the behaviour of the Bismut-Griffiths-positivity under the action of the Hermitian curvature flows. In particular we study two concrete classes of examples, namely, linear Hopf manifolds and six-dimensional Calabi-Yau solvmanifolds with holomorphically-trivial canonical bundle. From these examples we identify some Hermitian curvature flows which do not preserve Bismut-Griffiths-non-negativity
Editorial: Current trends in the treatment of supraventricular tachycardia in pediatric age
In pediatric age supraventricular tachiarrhythmias represent one of the most common cause of admission in cardiology units. Supraventricular
arrhythmias may significantly influence the normal growth of a child with significant psycho-social implications. Pediatric cardiologists
should be aware about the arrhythmias they face in their clinical practice. Moreover, they should know the possible risks related to specific
arrhythmias and use the most efficacious therapeutic strategy with a correct knowledge of antiarrhythmic drugs.
In this issue of Current Pharmacological Design the most recent knowledges on pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of supraventricular
tachyarrhythmias in pediatric age are reviewed and discussed by recognized opinion leaders in the fiel
The geometry of the Bismut Connection
This thesis concerns the study of special metrics in Hermitian and almost-Hermitian geometry, characterized by classical constraints on the curvature of their Bismut, Chern, or Gauduchon connection. More precisely, we intend to study the analogs in Hermitian and almost-Hermitian geometry of constant scalar curvature metrics, Einstein metrics, and metrics whose curvature tensor satisfies some positivity notion. We study the existence of metrics with constant scalar curvature with respect to the Gauduchon connection, which can be interpreted as a Yamabe-type problem. We then analyze the geometry of 4-dimensional compact almost-complex manifolds that carry a second-Chern–Einstein metric and we produce new examples of such spaces. With the aim of investigating the geometry of the Bismut connection, we describe the Calabi–Yau with torsion metrics of submersion type on toric bundles over Hermitian manifolds. Moreover, we analyze the cohomological properties of compact complex manifolds equipped with a Bismut flat metric. This leads to a better understanding of the evolution of the pluriclosed flow on Bismut flat manifolds. Finally, we consider a new notion of positivity for Hermitian manifolds which involves the Bismut curvature tensor, and we investigate its behavior under the action of the Hermitian curvature flows
Metabolic disorders and cardiovascular risk in HIV-infected patients treated with antiretroviral agents.
The clinical management of HIV-infected individuals is based on highly active antiretroviral combination therapy, which provides significant clinical benefit in most patients, but causes in a high proportion of them a metabolic syndrome that includes body fat redistribution, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and insulin resistance. These effects are particularly evident in patients treated with protease inhibitors. It is likely that the metabolic disorders related to anti-HIV treatment will eventually translate into an increased cardiovascular risk in patients submitted to such regimens
Effects of testosterone undecanoate replacement and withdrawal on cardio-metabolic, hormonal and body composition outcomes in severely obese hypogonadal men: a pilot study
Purpose Modifications of cardiovascular and metabolic parameters during testosterone (T) replacement and withdrawal have never been investigated in severely obese hypogonadal men. Methods Twenty-four severely obese (mean BMI 42; mean age 54.5) hypogonadal men (mean T = 245 +/- 52 ng/dL) were enrolled in an observational, parallel-arm, open-label, 54-week study of hypocaloric diet plus physical activity (DPE; n = 12) or DPE plus T injections (DPE + T; n = 12), followed by 24 weeks of DPE alone. Primary endpoints were variations from baseline of cardiovascular (cardiac performance, blood pressure, endothelial function, carotid intima-media thickness, CIMT; epicardial fat thickness, EF) and body composition (fat/lean mass) parameters. Secondary endpoints were variations from baseline of hormonal (T and GH) and metabolic (oral glucose tolerance test, lipids, fibrinogen) parameters. Results At 54 weeks, DPE + T showed improvements in EF, ejection fraction, diastolic function, CIMT and endothelial function (p < 0.01 vs. controls). Also, hormonal (T, p < 0.0001; GH, p < 0.01), metabolic (HOMA, p < 0.01; microalbuminuria, p < 0.01), lipid (total cholesterol, p < 0.05) and inflammatory (fibrinogen, p < 0.05) parameters improved. After 24 weeks from T withdrawal, all cardiac and hormonal parameters returned to baseline, while fat but not lean mass and blood pressure ameliorations were maintained. An inverse relationship either between EF vs. endothelial function and EF vs. T levels was found (r(2) = -0.46, p < 0.001 and r(2) = -0.56, p < 0.0005, respectively) while direct relationship between T vs. endothelial function occurred (r(2) = 0.43, p < 0.005) in DPE + T. A 33 % dropout rate was reported in DPE without serious adverse events. Conclusions In middle-aged hypogonadal obese men, 1-year T treatment was safe and improved cardio-metabolic and hormonal parameters. We firstly demonstrated that T withdrawal determines a return back to hypogonadism within 6 months, with loss of cardiovascular and some body composition improvements attained
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
