Modeling of Erosion at Goksu Coasts

The Eastern and Western parts of the Goksu river mouth along the Mediterranean coast and the coast of Paradeniz Lagoon are suffering significantly from erosion. As a result of the coastal erosion and the consequent coastal recession problem along the coasts of Goksu, agricultural fields located near the coast are being lost, and especially the narrow barrier beach which separates Paradeniz Lagoon from the sea is getting narrower, creating a risk of uniting with the sea, thus disappearing of the Lagoon. In order to propose solutions for the problem, and to protect the coastal zone and the habitats of Goksu against coastal erosion, coastal dynamic processes and sediment transport characteristics of the region causing the erosion should be investigated and identified. Therefore, longshore sediment transport and suspended sediment transport in Goksu coastal area are examined. First of all, the wind and wave climate of the study area are determined. Then, current pattern, wave propagation, and longshore sediment movements are modeled numerically utilizing three dimensional hydrodynamic transport model HYDROTAM-3D. HYDROTAM-3D is a three (3) dimensional numerical Hydrodynamic and Transportation Model which simulates current patterns due to wind and wave actions, pollutant transport, wave propagation over mild slopes, and longshore sediment transport rates. Model includes hydrodynamics, transport, turbulence, wind and wave climate and wave propagation sub models. HYDROTAM 3D, is developed using "cloud computing" architecture and tightly integrated with Geographic Information System. The study outputs will be used for the determination of the coastal erosion
Effect of Diffracted Waves on Harbor Resonance

The diffracted waves affect the harbor resonance. The wave model RIDE was applied to study the harbor resonance characteristics. The model predictions were compared with the results of two physical experiments and previous numerical studies. Twelve cases were studied for eight different layouts. The wave model RIDE was applied to the port of Filyos and the fishing port of Kilimli on the western Black Sea coast of Turkey. Comparisons between numerical simulations for different layouts and wave conditions showed that the amplification of wave height in the basin could be significantly reduced for resonant modes by diffracting the waves
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Simulation of pollutant transport in Marmaris Bay
The circulation pattern and the pollutant transport in the Marmaris Bay are simulated by the developed three-dimensional baroclinic model. The Marmaris Bay is located at the Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. Since the sp ring tidal range is typically 20similar to30 cm, the dominant forcing for the circulation and water exchange is due to the wind action. In the Marmaris Bay, there is sea outfall discharging directly into the bay, and that threats the bay water quality significantly. The current patterns in the vicinity of the outfall have been observed by tracking drogues which are moved by currents at different water depths. In the simulations of pollutant transport, the coliforms-counts is used as the tracer. The model provides realistic predictions for the circulation and pollutant transport in the Marmaris Bay. The transport model component predictions well agree with the results of a laboratory model study

Three dimensional numerical modelling of circulation in coastal lagoons Kiyi Lagünlerindeki Çevrintilerin Üç Boyutlu Sayisal Modelle İncelenmesi
Coastal lagoons are enclosed water bodies that are connected to the sea by one or more inlet channels and generally their water depths are not deeper than a few meters. In this paper, a three dimensional baroclinic numerical model which simulates changes in water levels and velocity patterns in coastal lagoons induced by wind force, tidal force and density gradients and model applications are presented. The numerical model consists of hydrodynamic, transport and turbulence model components. The solution method is a composite finite difference-finite element method. Numerical model predictions are verified by analitical solution of steady wind driven circulatory flow in a closed basin with a flat bed, by results of an experimental study performed on wind driven turbulent flow in a homogeneous fluid and by the analitical solution of flow due to uni-nodal standing wave oscillation. Model is applied to Ölüdeniz Lagoon to simulate the wind and tide induced velocity patterns
