„Jasnościowcy”. O stylu naukowym Szkoły Lwowsko-Warszawskiej z perspektywy idei prostego języka (rekonesans)
No full textThe article aims to present the tradition of the ‘clarity-makers’, i.e. members of the Lvov-Warsaw School, its methodological postulates and scientific style. In the first part, the author presents Kazimierz Twardowski as a teacher and refers to the problem of style clarity and ambiguity. In the second part, the author reconstructs the characteristics of the language and style of the School presented by Maria Rzeuska and confronts it with the recipes for the intelligibility of expressions formulated by Walery Pisarek. In the third part, the author presents the results of the textual analysis carried out to illustrate how the postulates of clarity and justification were reflected in the style of writings of selected LWS representatives. The preliminary results confirm that the representatives’ declared desire to clearly express their thoughts manifests in their texts. The presented results also seem to indicate the need to revise various quantitative observations on the scientific style based on larger samples.Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie tradycji „jasnościowców”, to jest członków Szkoły Lwowsko-Warszawskiej, jej postulatów metodologicznych oraz stylu naukowego. Artykuł składa się z trzech zasadniczych części. W pierwszej autor przedstawia sylwetkę Kazimierza Twardowskiego jako nauczyciela i odnosi się do opisanego przez niego problemu jasności i niejasności stylu. W części drugiej autor rekonstruuje charakterystykę języka i stylu Szkoły przedstawioną przez Marię Rzeuską oraz konfrontuje ją z receptami na zrozumiałość wypowiedzi sformułowanymi przez Walerego Pisarka. W części trzeciej autor przedstawia wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz tekstowych ilustrujących, w jaki sposób postulaty jasności i uzasadnienia odzwierciedlały się w stylu pism wybranych reprezentantów SLW. Wstępne wyniki potwierdzają, że deklarowana przez przedstawicieli dążność do jasnego wysłowienia myśli przejawia się w ich tekstach. Przedstawione wyniki zdają się także świadczyć o potrzebie rewizji różnych obserwacji ilościowych dotyczących stylu naukowego na większych próbkach

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
