Repertory Grid Technique: a pragmatic approach to evaluating user experience in visualisation navigation
The aim of this study is to evaluate user experience of visualisation navigation by adopting a pragmatic approach. A pragmatic approach with the adoption of Repertory Grid Technique (RGT) reveals a different side of visualisation evaluation. Visualisation in past research has been studied through different theoretical lenses, discussed here under four headings: human cognition; technology interventions; data and information; and evaluation behaviours. From these four headings emerge objective and subjective user experience measurements. These insights have been used to demonstrate the implications of RGT and how it can generate valid data for analysing user experience. The findings elicited from 48 users demonstrate the contributions of the study specifically to evaluation approaches. The implications of RGT explored uncommon research paradigms in visualisation research, improvement in the elicitation method and extensions to the RGT, enhancing the research credibility. The outcomes derived from RGT were used as indicators to uncover user experience. These outcomes were: (1) the list of the hierarchical factors to evaluate user experience; (2) the potential implications for practice when designing visualisation navigation; and (3) the richness of the classification of visualisation navigation features generated by user experience. A comparison between the generated data and previous studies was used to demonstrate the impact on the research context. The main contributions of this research are fourfold. First, the research followed a pragmatic paradigm and adopted RGT, which is uncommon for visualisation research exploring users’ perceptions towards visualisation, and constitutes a methodological innovation. Second, it fills a gap in the theoretical basis of evaluating visualisation navigation based on user experience. It also articulates four lenses of past research: human cognition, technology interventions, data and information, and evaluation behaviours. Third, it determines the important elements of user experience towards visualisation. Fourth, the research bridges the gap between designers, users and academicians by exploring the visualisation phenomenon.<br/

Carbon nanotubes growth from camphoric carbon sources using transition metal catalysts / Azira Abd Aziz
This thesis covers the analysis of catalytic growth of
carbon nanotubes (CNTs) under well-defined conditions,
the optimization of the catalyst and introduces model
for the growth mechanism based on the experimental
results. Experimental investigations are presented to
obtain a comprehensive picture on the catalytic growth
of CNTs. The overall aim of this thesis is to deposit CNTs
by the seeded catalyst method and the modified fluidized
floating catalyst method by Chemical Vapour Deposition
(CVD) and to investigate the effects of starting material
and catalysts on the morphology and structure of the
deposited CNTs. Camphor (C10H16O, crystalline state) and
camphor oil (liquid state) are the precursor materials used
as the source of CNTs. Transition metal (Fe, Ni, Co, Mn,
Al, Mg) catalysts were prepared and the effect on their
catalytic behavior were studied. Metal catalysts have
been prepared by sol-gel method with or without support
catalyst. Correlation between the catalyst particle size
and CNT diameter has been the motivation to reduce the
catalyst particle size down to nanoparticle size

For data analysis, the finding shows that income level and interest rate has significant relationship with saving behavior. Meanwhile, credit availability not has significant relationship with saving behavio
Identifying legal problems in real property timeshare agreements for consumers in Malaysia / Aldric Tinker, Azira Aziz
Timeshare schemes in the forms of resorts, hotels and other recreation-based properties have grown in popularity since its inception particularly in Malaysia. However, there is still a severe lack in regulatory measures concerning timeshare companies, timeshare agents and the rights of consumers. The existence of rogue agents in the field resulted in problems faced by timeshare owners and consumers. By conducting this research, we aimed to uncover its inadequacies and proffer solutions that would resolve this conflict between balancing the rights of the consumers and the companies who offer timeshare. We have collected information from various related journals, periodicals, articles and cases. In addition to that, we had also conducted interviews with timeshare lawyers regarding their opinions on this problem and their expertise in the area. We also interviewed a representative from the National Consumer Crimes Centre to assist our research. Our research emphasizes on finding a solution for the rapid development and yet the lack of regulation on the timeshare industry in Malaysia, balancing it with the right of consumers. We have concluded that it is insufficient, and have added suggestions and recommendations. Its implementation however, would be a long and winding road

Repeat and Recall (R&R): memory booster handbook for students / Nor Azira Ayob, Mohd Amar Aziz and Noor Hadzlida Ayob
Memory is the most important factor in distinguishing from one person to the other. Memory is the ability to record information and remember what we see and learn. There are three basic types of memory that allow the brain to encode, store, and retrieve information. Without the three basic types of memory, an individual is unable to build personal rapport in order to acquire new knowledge and will be unable to perform basic functions in daily life such as studying. A good memory is dependent on the brain health and vitality. As a student, studying for a quiz or final exam necessitates greater effort, particularly in remembering the points, explanations, data, numbers, formulas. The Repeat and Recall (R&R): Memory Booster for Malaysian Economy Students is introduced to help students especially to study the subject of Malaysian Economy. Repeat and Recall (R&R): Memory Booster Handbook can provide the information needed by students with many simple words that can be easily understood. This memory booster is also suitable for all students, user friendly, handy and also easy to be carried anywhere. Simple pilot test interviews and survey were conducted for 30 students before and after using the R&R Memory Booster and the findings show that students are more aware of the concept after using this memory booster. Adapting computer-based micro learning to enhance student retention of SQL key terms / Noor Awawdeh, Noornina Dahlan and Azira Ab Aziz
The focus in this study is to explore the methods of using computer-based micro learning to enhance student retention in Structured Query Language (SQL) key terms. One of the primary issues in teaching technical courses is a difficulty for students to recall and explain terminologies. It is one of the fundamental skills when learning technical courses. Educators introduce many techniques or methods to reduce students’ difficulties such as implementing a micro learning concept. The concept of computer based micro learning encompasses a modern approach to learning, based on short, concise lessons delivered to the learners. Micro learning allows knowledge and information to be divided into small “chunks”. Method: This study conducts a survey after each lesson to compare the number of terminology that students can recall or explain. First, students are given a lesson without adding a micro learning revision. Then, students receive additional micro learning revision to help them to recall. Results: Using the evidence from the questionnaire, the six cases are classified into two categories that have a little improvement and no improvement. Most cases demonstrate improvement when asked to recall SQL terminology. Summary: the study finds the retention and understanding level increases in comparison with traditional methods. In assessing student performance, this paper emphasizes the use of available technology to support classroom activities. The paper considers the implications for the teaching approach and student learning
