Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textKajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji dan mengenalpasti isu-isu atau permasalahan yang di hadapi pelajar dalam pendidikan matematik supaya dapat gambaran yang jelas tentang apa yang sedang berlaku. Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengenalpasti tahap minat pelajar terhadap matematik dan faktor penguasaan kefahaman konsep di kalangan pelajar Fakulti Pendidikan Teknikal dan Vokasional di Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Seramai 285 orang responden dipilih secara rawak dalam kalangan pelajar Fakulti Pendidikan Teknikal dan Vokasional yang telah mengambil matapelajaran Matematik 1 dan Matematik 2 iaitu pelajar Tahun 1, Tahun 2, Tahun 3 dan Tahun 4 yang merangkumi 7 program di FPTV. Kajian ini dijalankan dengan menggunakan kaedah tinjauan melalui set soal selidik. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensi untuk mendapatkan hasil kajian dalam bentuk peratusan, min, sisihan piawai (SD) dan korelasi Pearson. Keputusan skor min bagi minat pelajar terhadap matematik ialah 4.2074 berada pada tahap yang tinggi, manakala bagi keputusan skor min pengajaran dan pembelajaran pula ialah 3.7023 berada pada tahap yang sederhana. Keputusan skor min bagi konsep formula pula 3.6768 berada pada tahap sederhana dan keputusan bagi konsep persekitaran pula ialah 4.2846 berada pada tahap yang tinggi. Hasil ujian korelasi Pearson bagi pengajaran dan pembelajaran dan minat pelajar ialah r = 0.484 dan terdapat hubungan positif yang sederhana kuat. Ujian korelasi bagi formula dan minat pelajar ialah r = 0.145 dan terdapat hubungan positif yang sangat lemah dan manakala ujian korelasi bagi persekitaran dan minat pelajar ialah r = 0.305 dan terdapat hubungan positif yang lemah. Secara keseluruhannya dapat disimpulkan bahawa faktor penguasaan kefahaman konsep kaedah pembelajaran, faktor formula dan faktor persekitaran mempengaruhi minat pelajar terhadap matematik

No full textPembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran Kemahiran Hidup di sekolah semakin mencabar dalam persaingan dan merapatkan jurang dalam penggunaan teknologi pendidikan yang semakin canggih. Kajian ini dijalankan dengan tujuan untuk mengkaji sejauh mana Persepsi Pelajar dalam Kemahiran Psikomotor Pemasangan Kit Model Kereta Menggunakan CD Interaktif. Sampel kajian ini terdiri daripada 92 orang responden berbeza jantina dari sekolah-sekolah berbeza di sekitar Zon Bandar Mersing. Instrumen kajian adalah menggunakan soal selidik yang mengandungi 32 item soalan.(2 item demografi, 15 item minat dan 15 item sikap). Bagi pelaksanaan kajian rintis telah dijalankan di Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Mersing dengan jumlah responden seramai 30 orang. Nilai min daripada hasil kajian bagi item minat ialah 4.60 dan bagi item sikap nilai min ialah 4.67 menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (Version 22.0) untuk menjalankan analisis data. Data analisis meliputi skor min,peratusan dan korelasi. Hasil kajian mendapati penggunaan CD Interaktif dalam kemahiran psikomotor pemasangan kit model kereta adalah berada pada tahap yang tinggi. Ini menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan CD Interaktif ini sesuai dipraktikkan dikalangan muridmurid sekolah rendah kerana ianya bukan sahaja mampu menarik minat malahan dapat membentuk sikap murid-murid untuk menguasai sesuatu topik

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textKertas kerja ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tahap penguasaan Komponen Masakan di kalangan pelajar Pendidikan Khas Bermasalah Pembelajaran. Kajian telah dijalankan di sebuah sekolah harian biasa di daerah Kuantan yang menjalankan Program Pendidikan Khas Intergrasi iaitu Sekolah Menengah Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Muhammad Kuantan Pahang. Borang soal selidik yang dibina sendiri telah diedarkan kepada 30 responden. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisisan Winsteps 3.69.11. Hasil menunjukkan responden berminat belajar Komponen Masakan yang terdapat dalam mata pelajaran kemahiran hidup berdasarkan skor min 4.846 dan berada pada tahap tinggi. Responden juga memahami isi kandungan Komponen Masakan yang diajar oleh guru pada skor min 4.366 juga pada tahap yang tinggi. Pelajar juga mengaplikasikan bahagian amali Masakan ini pada kehidupan seharian mereka pada skor min 4.28. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textGraduates\u27 employability is a commonly highlighted issue in tertiary education due to today\u27s job market that highly expects the limited vacancies to be filled with competitive and competent graduates. Higher education institutions play a significant role in ensuring and understanding the skills that are needed by the graduates to meet the demand of the professional industryhence, better job opportunity for the graduates. Work Based Learning (WBL) is one of the platforms for students to gain actual working experience in addition to developing career management competencies to prepare for starting a career. The purpose of this study is to explore the career management competencies that students can master through WBL. This study is a qualitative study that uses analysis of documents and interviews as the primary methods of data collection. Document analysis has been conducted to explore the key elements of competence from the theoretical and literary perspective. Semi-structured interviews were carried out on five selected research experts from various backgrounds and positions in the WBL implementation in polytechnics. Coding and analysis process were conducted based on the recorded transcript of the interview. The collected data were analysed based on the themes that answered the research questions. This study has identified 20 sub-elements covering three key elements of career management competency in the implementation of WBL, namely learning and work exploration, career development, and personal management. The findings of this study are intended to be used as the basis for an effective application of career education in the WBL implementation
