No full textInformational technologies are based on digital data only. Thus, analogue sound signals of compound words phonation should be transformed into digital ones. This can be done with the help of an integrated sound card. The author suggests using the “Audacity” program to examine compound words of Ukrainian language origin. This program offers a wide range of options including microphone record, sound separation, and measurement each of its fragment duration.Correlation of the whole word phonation duration is an important aspect of this research. Analysis of the numerical values of phonation duration in compound words’ elements demonstrates their consistency patterns. These correlations prove to be not just random numbers, but reliable data corresponding with the “golden” P and S proportions. The Audacity-pronounced compound word “wind-flower” is given as an intonogram’s example. The compound word construction correlation equals to 1.705, fitting into the range of harmonic S-proportions. Thus, construction correlation of “wind-flower” is harmonic at the phonetic level.У пропонованій статті розглянуто особливості використання сучасних комп’ютерних технологій у дослідженні юкстапозитів на фонетичному рівні. Язык как определяющий фактор идентичности украинской нации
No full textУ статті висвітлено роль мови як джерела духовного життя народу, визначального чинника і головної ознаки ідентичності української нації. Проаналізовано причини й наслідки двомовності в Україні. З’ясовано, що двомовність на державному рівні є руйнівним процесом для країни. Доведено, що єдине консолідоване суспільство може витворюватися лише на ґрунті спільної духовності й мови, позаяк саме вона є тим визначальним чинником, який характеризує самототожність нації. Визначено, що мова забезпечує кореляцію взаємостосунків у міжсуспільному та міждержавному просторі. Установлено, що Україна має цілеспрямовано й послідовно проводити в життя вже обрану нею мовну політику з її пріоритетним напрямом – виконанням 10-ї статті Конституції, адже нація тільки тоді може бути повністю функціональною, якщо мова виконує всі належні їй функції. Підтверджено, що мовна політика визначає курс держави на зовнішньополітичній арені, формує концепт самоусвідомлення народу себе як нації. Окреслено перспективи розвитку та функціонування української мови в Україні.The article examines the role of language as a source of cultural life, and as a key feature of nation’s identity. The author comments on the bilingual environment and explains its possible consequences. The author makes a statement that official status of bilingualism is highly likely to launch destructive processes in Ukraine. The author proves that common culture and language are key unification and consolidation factors, necessary for nation’s identity. Language correlates the interaction within society and state sectors. The author supports the current state language policy, totally corresponding to Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Nation’s functionality totally depends on the functionality of home language. Language policy determines country’s foreign vector and forms nation’s identity concept. The perspectives of Ukrainian language functioning and development are pointed out in the article.В статье раскрыта роль языка как источника духовной жизни народа, определяющего фактора и главного признака идентичности украинской нации. Проанализированы причины и последствия двуязычия в Украине. Установлено, что двуязычие на государственном уровне является разрушительным процессом для страны. Доказано, что единое консолидированное общество может быть сформировано только на почве общей духовности, общего языка, поскольку именно язык является тем определяющим фактором, который характеризует самотождественность нации. Определено, что язык обеспечивает корреляцию взаимоотношений в общественном и межгосударственном пространстве. Установлено, что Украина должна целенаправленно и последовательно воплощать в жизнь уже выбранную ею языковую политику с её приоритетным направлением – выполнением 10-й статьи Конституции, поскольку нация только тогда может быть полностью функциональной, если язык выполняет все присущие ему функции. Языковая политика определяет курс государства на внешнеполитической арене, формирует концепт самосознания народа как нации. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. This article investigates compound words of Ukrainian language origin. It analyses quantity indicators of computer-pronounced compound words.
Purpose: to prove the efficiency of up-to-date computer technologies for eveloping a theory of Ukrainian language compound words’ harmonic onstruction based on the “golden proportion” method.

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
