An Exploration of Multiple Subject Positions of Pakistani Women in Afzal Khan’s Memoir
The present research article aims to explore Fawzi Afzal Khan’s memoir Lahore With Love Growing up With Girlfriends Pakistani Style while integrating theoretical framework presented by Islamic feminist scholars such as Mernissi, Moghissi, Kahf, khan and Zine. This research is qualitative in nature because it aims to view social reality regarding women as constantly shifting. The findings bring to light the presence of plurality and relativity in Pakistani’s women’s lives. Fawzia Afzal Khan is a postmodern author who is skeptic of the fixed identities and stereotypical roles of Pakistani women. The findings further reveal that Fawzia Afzal Khan has tried to depict the multiple subject positions of Pakistani women through the lives of her girlfriends. In this way she has presented an alternative herstory of Pakistan

Recognition and introduction of "Al-Zorvatalsama Fimashahir al-asma", a new essay by Afzal Kermani
In one of the preserved manuscripts in Ayatollah Mareshinkavi's library there is a treatise entitled "Al-Zoroahmasma Fae Mobiri-al-Masma" (Zat al-Sharma al-Shama ...), which is a synopsis of Ali Sami's famous book, Ali al-Sayyid Aliyev, Abolfazl Fieldi Neishabour. The author's name is not specified in the text, but the cataloger of his library introduces "Afzal al-Din Tajjulzman [Kermani]" and considers the compilation date "probably the eighth century". This guess is the result of neglected readings by the cataloger, and such a person does not exist externally. In this paper, it is noted that the time of the time is referred to the possibility of the immediate victimization of Afzal al-Din Kermani, the poet and the sixth and seventh-century astronomers, and the author of the book, Paḥabeqd al-Ali Lalmukhfal al-Ali. In the continuation of the article and after the introduction of the article, the subject is divided into different parts, and the differences with the al-Sa'ayyami are discussed. At the end of the table is the difference between some Persian equivalents in field works and Afzal Kermani. Key words: al-Zoroahmasma fi Muhammadi al-Masma, Taj el-Zaman kermani, Afzal al-Din kermani, al-Sami fi al-saṁmi

A potent thromboxane formation inhibitor in green tea leaves
A ninhydrin positive compound (L2) now identified as 2-amino-5-(N-ethylcarboxyamido)-pentanoic acid, from unprocessed tea leaves was a potent inhibitor of thrombin-stimulated thromboxane formation in rabbit whole blood (Ali and Afzal; Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Medicine, 27: 9, 1987). In the present study, processed and unprocessed tea leaf extracts were given to rats to consume for a period of eight weeks. Cholesterol and thromboxane levels were measured in the serum obtained from clotting the blood at 37 degrees C. A significant reduction in thromboxane levels was observed in rats taking unprocessed tea extract. This reduction was equally distributed in adult as well as in juvenile rats. However no appreciable changes in the levels of thromboxane were noticed in the serum of rats taking processed tea extracts. This might be due to the presence of a labile component which is destroyed during the processing of green tea leaves. A decreased level of cholesterol was observed in rats consuming unprocessed tea extract. This decrease could be linked to the decrease in thromboxane levels as observed. Processed tea refers to commercially available tea of different brands while unprocessed tea refers to dried green tea leaves.LR: 20061115; PUBM: Print; JID: 8802730; 0 (Amino Acids); 108589-72-6 (2-amino-5-(N-ethylcarboxyamido)pentanoic acid); 54397-85-2 (Thromboxane B2); 57-88-5 (Cholesterol); ppublishSource type: Electronic(1
Exploration of carboxy pyrazole derivatives: Synthesis, alkaline phosphatase, nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase and nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase inhibition studies with potential anticancer profile
In the present work we report the synthesis of new aryl pyrazole derivatives using 1,3-dicarbonyl motifs. The reaction was proceeded by the cyclization of pentane-2,4-dione (1a), 3-chloropentane-2,4-dione (1b) or ethyl 3-oxobutanoate (1c) with different aryl hydrazines. The products, which can be regarded as 1H-pyrazol-1-yl-one analogues (3a-f, 3g-o, 4a-c, 5a-b) and represent drug like molecules along with well-developed structure?activity relationships, were obtained in good to excellent yield. The structures of synthesized compounds were charcterized on the basis of FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopic data. Considering alkaline phosphatases (APs), nucleotide pyrophosphatases/phosphodiesterases (NPPs) and nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase as the molecular targets, the effects of these synthesized compounds were investigated on different isozymes of APs, NPPs and NTPDases. The data revealed that the synthesized compounds inhibited both enzymes but most of them inhibited tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase (TNAP) more selectively. The antitumor activity results indicated that the synthesized derivatives have strong inhibitory effects on the growth of selected cell lines from different tissues such as breast, bone marrow and cervix (MCF-7, K-562 and Hela) but with varying intensities. Moreover the binding mode of interactions were explained on the basis of molecular docking and in-silico studies.Fil: Channar, Pervaiz Ali. Quaid-i-azam University; PakistánFil: Afzal, Saira.
