HUMANISME DALAM PEMIKIRAN KH. SALAHUDDIN WAHID DAN RELEVANSINYA BAGI KEBERAGAMAAN KONTEMPORER DI INDONESIA

    No full text
In the 21st century, religious problems in Indonesia are increasingly complex, especially those concerning human values. This can be seen from the rise of intolerance, religious conflict, and even religious based radicalism terrorism. In addition, physical violence, violations of moral values, and violations of human rights occur, giving birth to religious based dehumanization. Therefore, a solution is needed, one of which is an intellectual solution. From here, the author presents KH. Salahuddin Wahid's thoughts on humanism. Interestingly, KH Salahuddin Wahid's humanism has a typical pesantren style. Coming from such a background, this research aims to understand the humanism KH. Salahuddin Wahid and explain its relevance for contemporary religiosity in Indonesia. This research is a literature study with a philosophical approach. Data sources are taken by the documentation method. Primary data comes directly from the works of KH Salahuddin Wahid, among others: Berguru pada Realitas, Memadukan Keindonesiaan dan Keislaman, Transformasi Pesantren Tebuireng, and other literature by KH. Salahuddin Wahid. The data is supported by secondary data relevant to this research. The data that has been collected is then read with the content analysis method and concluded with the induction method. The theory that becomes the reference of this research is Jacques Maritain's integral humanism theory, which connects religion with humanitarian issues. Maritain's humanism is basically religious humanism, because God is the principle in his humanism. The results of this study show the following. First, KH. Salahuddin Wahid's humanism is a humanitarian concept that has an Islamic base and pesantren tradition, especially the values inherited by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari. Conceptually, KH. Salahuddin Wahid's humanism includes religious humanism and is in line with Jacques Maritain's integral humanism principles. KH. Salahuddin Wahid's humanism connects religion and pesantren with social problems such as inequality and injustice. KH. Salahuddin Wahid's humanism leads to true brotherhood between humans, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, or social strata. Second, the normative critical aspect of KH. Salahuddin Wahid's humanism has relevance for religion in Indonesia, including: building humanist religion, encouraging the enforcement of human rights, and measuring the politicization of religio

Azad, SA ORCiD: 0000-0002-6377-7912; Ray, BR ORCiD: 0000-0002-3016-1695Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has many applications such as supply chain management, asset tracking, healthcare and logistics. Since RFID tags and readers communicate through a wireless medium, they are prone to a wide range of attacks. There are a number of measures to safeguard the security of RFID device operations and communications: mutual authentication, confidentiality, indistinguishability, forward security, and desynchronisation resilience. Due to limited computational power and memory, heavy-weight encryption functions cannot be performed in the RFID tags to execute the security protocols. Therefore, RFID security protocols are restricted to light-weight encryption functions such as simple one-way hash function, cyclic redundancy check (CRC), pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) and exclusive-OR (XOR). This paper develops a lightweight secure authentication protocol to mutually authenticate the RFID tag and the reader through an insecure radio communication channel. The protocol assumes that each RFID tag pre-shares a secret key with the reader. The protocol uses two random values to guarantee the freshness of the messages in order to outwit any replay attack. An analysis of the protocol using Scyther verification tool shows that the protocol ensures secure communication between the reader and the RFID tag provided the communication channel between the back-end server and the reader is protected

Bitrate modeling of scalable videos using quantization parameter, frame rate and spatial resolution

    No full text
The quality and bitrate modeling is essential to effectively adapt the bitrate and quality of videos when delivered to multiplatform devices over resource constraint heterogeneous networks. The recent model proposed by Wang et al. estimates the bitrate and quality of videos in terms of the frame rate and quantization parameter. However, to build an effective video adaptation framework, it is crucial to incorporate the spatial resolution in the analytical model for bitrate and perceptual quality adaptation. Hence, this paper proposes an analytical model to estimate the bitrate of videos in terms of quantization parameter, frame rate, and spatial resolution. The model can fit the measured data accurately which is evident from the high Pearson correlation. The proposed model is based on the observation that the relative reduction in bitrate due to decreasing spatial resolution is independent of the quantization parameter and frame rate. This modeling can be used for rate-constrained bit-stream adaptation scheme which selects the scalability parameters to optimize the perceptual quality for a given bandwidth constraint

Measuring bitrate and quality trade-off in a fast region-of-interest based video coding

    No full text
Prevailing video adaptation solutions change the quality of the video uniformly throughout the whole frame in the bitrate adjustment process; while region-of-interest (ROI)-based solutions selectively retains the quality in the areas of the frame where the viewers are more likely to pay more attention to. ROI-based coding can improve perceptual quality and viewer satisfaction while trading off some bandwidth. However, there has been no comprehensive study to measure the bitrate vs. perceptual quality trade-off so far. The paper proposes an ROI detection scheme for videos, which is characterized with low computational complexity and robustness, and measures the bitrate vs. quality trade-off for ROI-based encoding using a state-of-the-art H.264/AVC encoder to justify the viability of this type of encoding method. The results from the subjective quality test reveal that ROI-based encoding achieves a significant perceptual quality improvement over the encoding with uniformquality at the cost of slightly more bits. Based on the bitrate measurements and subjective quality assessments, the bitrate and the perceptual quality estimation models for non-scalable ROI-based video coding (AVC) are developed, which are found to be similar to the models for scalable video coding (SVC)

A hot in-place recycling (HIR) technique was employed for the first time on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway in 2005 to rehabilitate sections where the rut depth was about 40 mm. Since HIR technology was new to Pakistan, research was carried out to study the effects of recycled wearing course of pavement. It was accomplished by comparing structural adequacy of pavement and material characterization before and after recycling.Analysis of recycled HMA wearing course indicated a reduction in modulus for a mix that was very stiff and aged prior to recycling. Relative degradation of the HMA wearing course was observed; however, it remained close to standard specifications specified by Executing Agency National Highway Authority (NHA). The research enhanced awareness of HIR among local engineers and contractors

The average emission and prevalence of methane CH4, carbon monoxide CO, and oxygen O2 measured as 11.8m3/ton, 36ppm and 14% respectively which exceeds the permissible limits of 1-10m3/ton, 30ppm and 18 %( Standardized by National institute of occupational safety and health NIOSH U.S.A) and are the source of high death ratio. The higher concentration of coal dust (carbon and quartz contents of Coal dust) have been measured as 4-5mg/m3 and 0.35mg/m3 against the threshold limits (Recommended by NIOSH) of 2mg/m3 and 0.05-0.1 mg/m3 for 8hours daily and 40hours/week. The high concentration of coal dust in coal mine areas of Baluchistan is not only the source of health problems like routine headache, irritation in throat ,nose, and eyes, drowsiness, shortness of breath, nausea, pneumoconiosis, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive bronchitis, heart problems, respiratory irritation, asthmatic and even lung impairment and lung cancer problem, but is causing severe damage to the Environment., The coal water and slurry being the residual of coal mining are disposed off in an unconfined area which becomes the source of soil and water degradation and the contaminated water taken by coal workers has several health impacts like ulcer, diarrhea, cholera, hepatitis B and C etc on coal workers of Baluchistan

This study aims to review the strengths and weaknesses of current mechanisms of housing affordability in regional Queensland cities through a case study of Rockhampton. This study adopted qualitative methodology and interviewed representative stakeholders from Queensland Government, Real Estate agencies, community service providers and property experts. After analysing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of both demand and supply side mechanisms of housing affordability, this study found most mechanisms followed quick fixes solution and some of them can even create more problems than what they would solve. In addition, many families are becoming dependent on the welfare-led housing systems generation after generation. Therefore, this study suggests adopting community-led and place based housing strategies to deliver both affordable and social housing as well as provide adequate funding in crisis housing sector

An adaptive borrow-and-return model for broadcasting videos

    No full text
Yang proposed the concept of borrow-and-return (BR) to leverage the unused server bandwidth when a group of popular videos being broadcast with the FSFC (first segment on the first channel) broadcasting schemes in order to improve the mean waiting time (MWT) of the viewers with the help of additional receiving bandwidth available at the high-end clients. The BR model borrows the bandwidth of the videos with no new-coming viewers during a timeslot to speed up the transmission of the first segments of some of the remaining videos. In this paper, we first address the relative advantage issue among various possible BR schemes by developing a parametric generic BR (GBR) scheme controlled externally by independent borrow parameters. Later, we propose a new BR (NBR) model by incorporating an efficient transmission strategy to reduce the MWT further. Finally, an optimal NBR scheme is developed by augmenting with the optimal borrow parameters, which significantly outperforms the existing and new BR schemes in terms of overall MWT
