Negi “A new secure route discovery protocol for MANETs to prevent hidden channel attacks
Abstract In this paper, we propose a new secure route discovery protocol for MANETs that overcomes the vulnerabilities of Ariadne and EndairA, due to hidden channel attacks. It uses 'authentic neighborhood' for route discovery process which potentially protects hidden channels of routing control packets, besides ensuring authenticity and integrity of routing control messages at hop-by-hop level. This authentic neighborhood is augmented by a process of traceability which uses promiscuous mode of a node to detect, diagnose and isolate the adversarial nodes, that disrupt the route discovery process. We observe, from the comparative analysis of the proposed protocol with Ariadne and EndiarA, that the proposed protocol has a balance between security and computational overhead. Security analysis and formal verification, through extended BAN logic and AVISPA toolkit, shows that the proposed protocol is safe against the vulnerabilities identified in Ariadne and EndairA, due to unprotected hidden channels
A Comprehensive Method for Assessing the Blepharospasm Cases Severity
Blepharospasm is characterized by bilateral, synchronous, and symmetric involuntary orbicularis oculi muscle spasms leading to partial/total eyelid closure. We proposed a comprehensive method for assessing the severity of blepharospasm cases, based on expert observation of fixed-length video recordings and natural feature detection algorithms. The developed software detects involuntary spasms and blinks in order to evaluate BSP severity. In this work we have considered a new BSP severity scale to realize an objective evaluation of BSP severity
Sensing multi-agent system for anomaly detection on crop fields exploiting the phenological and historical context
IoT technology spread led to the development of smart solutions for Precision Agriculture, employing multiple smart sensors to acquire and process data to support vegetation monitoring and crucial tasks such as seeding, irrigation, etc. to improve crop quality and production. However, the gathering of data from multiple devices requires a data integration stage that strictly depends on the context and features of the environment, including the type of environment, species, and phenology of the area considered. To this purpose, this paper introduces a multi-agent model that allows a swarm of IoT devices to perform environmental monitoring and anomaly detection on Regions of Interest (ROIs) accomplishing several tasks, including harmonization of spectral images taken from different sources, phenology data extraction about ROIs to build contextual knowledge over the ROIs and anomaly detection through vegetation index classification. A case study in a simulated real-time environment demonstrates the potential of the model to promptly alert humans about ROIs affected by critical vegetation, burned areas, and ROIs that can be at risk after critical events occurred in their surroundings
