No full textRev. Todd Atkins (M.T.S. 2007) was interviewed by Ruth Demissie via the Zoom internet-based video conferencing software on July 3, 2020. Rev. Atkins earned a bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University (DBU) before earning a Master of Theological Studies at Perkins School of Theology. In this interview, Rev. Atkins discusses his experiences studying within predominantly white institutions (PWIs) that hold different theological perspectives and the ways in which this exposure personally impacted him. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of understanding the various schools of thought regarding Christian doctrine. Rev. Atkins graduated from SMU in 2007 and, at the time of the interview, was the pastor for the Salem Institutional Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas

Jeff Todd Titon
No full textJeff Todd Titon received the B.A. from Amherst College, and the M.A. (in English) and Ph.D. (in American Studies) from the University of Minnesota, where he studied ethnomusicology and wrote his dissertation on blues music. He has done fieldwork on religious folk music, blues, and old-time fiddling. His teaching began at Tufts University, where he was assistant professor of English, then associate professor of English and music. He has been a visiting professor at Carleton College, Amherst College, Berea College, the University of Maine, and Indiana University. Since 1986 he has been professor of music (ethnomusicology) at Brown. He is the award-winning author or editor of seven books, and also plays guitar, fiddle, and banjo, and restores violins.
