Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Farklı Kil ve Çimento Tipleri ile Üretilen Kireçtaşı Kalsine Kil Çimentosunun Karşılaştırmalı İncelemesi
Limestone calcined clay cement (LC3) offers multiple advantages over portland cement, including lower CO2 emissions and superior cost-effectiveness. In addition, LC3 can be produced with existing cement factory equipment, using raw materials widely available worldwide, such as clay and limestone. The focus of this study was the production of LC3 using a range of materials with varying properties, three varieties of portland cement clinker, five different clayey soils, and one type of limestone. The clayey soils, ordinarily used in cement factories in Turkey to produce Portland cement clinker, were determined to contain varying amounts of clay minerals, some none. Initially, the influence on strength development of adding gypsum to LC3 was investigated 1, 3, 7, and 28 days. The inclusion of additional gypsum in LC3 mixtures was observed to increase early-age strength in mixtures containing kaolinite or a high quantity of calcite. Then, an experimental design using the Taguchi Method was carried out to statistically evaluate the influence of calcined clay and limestone fineness on mechanical properties at 1, 3, 7, and 28 days. The design involved two Blaine fineness levels: fine (~10000 cm2/g) and coarse (~3500 cm2/g). The mineralogical properties of the LC3 mixtures were also examined. Strength tests revealed that the fineness of calcined clays containing kaolinite, illite, or montmorillonite is statistically significant at the 95 % confidence level at later ages. The fineness of limestone is statistically significant at the 95 % confidence level in all mixtures, with the exception of the mixture produced with calcined clay containing illite at later ages. Finally, the production of limestone calcined clay calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA-LC3) was realized, the first time mortar samples of CSA-LC3 were made in the literature. CSA-LC3 -emits less CO2 (g/g) than portland cement, limestone calcined clay cement, or calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA), and can be more economical than calcium sulfoaluminate cement. PC clinker with CSA clinker in LC3 can overcome the commonly reported low-early-strength problem but is reduced at later ages. XRD results and scanning electron microscope (SEM) examinations revealed that hemicarbonate and monocarbonate phases did not form in CSA-LC3 pastes, possibly due to insufficient alkalinity of the system.Kireçtaşı kalsine kil çimentosu (LC3), portland çimentosuna kıyasla daha düşük CO2 emisyonları ve üstün maliyet etkinliği gibi çoklu avantajlar sunar. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

There are many studies on the maturity method, which is a non-destructive testing methods. However, most of these studies are associated with portland cement and its types. In this study, 4 different mineral admixtures (limestone powder, trass, fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag) were used at 6%, 20% and 35% (by mass) replacement levels. Besides the control portland cement mortars, mortars having 110 ± 5% flow according to ASTM C109 were also prepared using the blended cements. Then, 2, 7, 14, 28 and 90-day compressive strengths of 13 different mortars were determined. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effects of mineral admixture type and amount on the maturity and equivalent age functions using methods described in the relevant standard (ASTM C1074). For this purpose, apparent activation energy and datum temperature of these 13 mixtures were determined according to 3 different options in ASTM C1074 and these options were examined. In addition, a new approach was proposed especially for blended cements by using Option A1.1.8.1. and the results obtained from this approach were discussed in detail. In addition, a method was proposed for the determination of apparent activation energy and datum temperature by considering the compressive strength-age relationship of these mixtures. Besides, the relationship between the Nurse-Saul equivalent age function and ratio of compressive strength at 3 different curing temperature by taking the reference temperature as 20°C was examined. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
