Propyrgodesmus bulbogonopus Aswathy & Sudhikumar 2022, sp. nov.
Propyrgodesmus bulbogonopus sp. nov. Figs 1–4 Material examined. Holotype ♂ (CATE-5503A), Sacred groves of Kottayil Siva Kshethram, Muchukunnu, Kozhikode district, Kerala, India 11°29’42’’N, 75°39’55’’E, 9 m a.s.l., collected from rotting wood, hand collection, 08.10.2021, M.D. Aswathy leg. Paratypes: 1 ♂ (CATE-5503B), 2 ♀♀ (CATE-5503C, D), 3 ♀♀ juveniles (CATE-5503E, F, G), same locality, hand-collected together with holotype, but from top soil. Name. To emphasize the bulbous appearance of the medial branch of the gonopodal telopodite. Diagnosis. When comparing to P. lobulatus, the new species shows major differences in the tergal ornamentation by having most paraterga only vaguely trilobulate laterally (Fig. 2B, E), vs clearly trilobate (Fig. 4A, B) and by the presence of a ventral cone on antennomere 4 bearing a long sensillum trichodeum (Figs 2C, 4G), vs a ventral cone on antennomere 4 absent (Fig. 4C). On the contrary, the new species shows some similarities to the tergal ornamentation of P. frater, but differs significantly in the biramous gonopod with a bulbous lateral branch of the telopodite (Fig. 3A, B) vs with prong—and lobe-like structures on the main branch of the telopodite (Fig. 4D, E). A key to all three existing species of the genus is given below. Description. Holotype ca 7.6 mm long, width of mid-body pro—and metazonae 0.78 and 1.5 mm, respectively. Male paratype ca 7.5 mm, width of pro—and metazonae 0.78 and 1.5 mm, respectively. Adult female paratypes ca 7.5 and 9 mm long, width of pro—and metazonae 0.76–0.85 and 1.5–1.6 mm, respectively. Live colouration dark brown, dorsum encrusted with soil particles; antennae, legs and venter pale whitish (Fig. 1A, B). Both vertex and frons light brown, clypeolabrum whitish (Fig. 2A). Body broad due to large paraterga (Fig. 1A), with 20 body rings in both sexes (Fig. 1A, B). In width, head prefemur> tarsus> postfemur> tibia> coxa. Gonopods taking up nearly entire ventral surface of metazonum 7, almost reaching the base of paraterga (Fig. 2A). Gonopods relatively simple, placed inside a transversely oblong gonopodal aperture, with thin and slightly elevated caudal and lateral margins. Both gonopods held parallel to each other, strongly exposed, telopodite tips directed caudally. Coxites (cx) voluminous, transverse and microgranulate laterally (Fig. 3A, B). Gonocoel distinct, but not too deep; telopodites short, simple, biramous and distally carrying a long, in situ caudally directed and slightly bifurcate lamina with fringed/microspiculate lamellae; solenomere (sl) slender and barely exposed; medial branch (b) stalked, with a short bulbous structure emerging distolaterally (Fig. 3C, D). A laminar sheath covering the postfemoral part of telopodite with a caudally directed hook-shaped/unciform tip (h) (Fig. 3A, B). The following key can be proposed to separate the known species of Propyrgodesmus: 1 Sensillum trichodeum of the 4 th antennomere borne on a hump................................................. 2 - Sensillum trichodeum of the 4 th antennomere not on a hump........................................... Revised diagnosis of Polydrepanum. Gonofemorite elongate, slender and clearly twisted; solenophore mostly with a lateral lobe (lo) whose base on ventral side sometimes forming a protecting shield (lo) for the basal loop/curve of a long subflagelliform solenomere (sl). Distal half of solenophore elongate and unciform (Figs 9–12, 17–20). Species included: Polydrepanum tamilum Carl, 1932 (the type species), Polydrepanum horridum Golovatch, 1984, Polydrepanum granuliferum (Attems, 1936), comb. nov., Polydrepanum lamprum (Chamberlin, 1920), comb. nov. Gyrodrepanum Carl, 1932, with the single species, G. lamprum (Chamberlin, 1920) (= Orthomorpha lampra Chamberlin, 1920, = Orthomorpha (Gyrodrepanum) bimontana Carl, 1932), described from Fiji and southern India (Carl 1932; Jeekel 1972; Bano & Murthy 1997), seems to represent yet one more true Polydrepanum, because it likewise shows an elongate, slender and clearly twisted gonofemorite, three distofemoral processes (a, b and c), a curved solenophore (sph) and, above all, a flagelliform free solenomere (sl) with a distinct basal loop and a protecting lobe (lo), however small, to shield the loop on the lateral side (Figs 46–50). Hindomorpha Golovatch, 1984, erected for Sundanina granulifera Attems, 1936 (= H. granulifera (Attems, 1936)) as the type species (Golovatch 1984), is actually another Polydrepanum, because it also shows an elongate, slender and clearly twisted gonofemorite, two distofemoral processes (a and b), a curved solenophore (sph) and, above all, a flagelliform free solenomere (sl) with a distinct basal loop and a protecting lobe (lo), however inconspicuous, to shield the loop on the lateral side (Figs 44, 45). In other words, both Hindomorpha Golovatch, 1984 and Gyrodrepanum Carl, 1932 are new junior subjective synonyms of Polydrepanum Carl, 1932, both syn. nov., and both P. granuliferum (Attems, 1936) and P. lamprum (Chamberlin, 1920) are new combinations, comb. nov. ex Hindomorpha and Gyrodrepanum, respectively. The following key can be proposed for the separation of Polydrepanum species.. 1(2) Meta- and paraterga very densely setose dorsally. Gonopods as in Figs 9–12.............................. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods

The Right to Strike under the United States Constitution: Theory, Practice, and Possible Implications for Canada
Answering critics of the Canadian Supreme Court's judgment in B.C. Health, the author argues that the Court laid the foundation for a principled and durable doctrine protecting constitutional labour rights, one that goes directly to the heart of the matter — the inequality of workers’ power in the employment relation. In the author’s view, two paths could lead from B.C. Health to the recognition of Charter protec- tion for a right to strike: one that treats the right as an accessory to col- lective bargaining, and one that upholds the right directly on the basis of the Charter values of equality and participation. The author supports the latter approach, contending that constitutional rights should be defined in relation to fundamental values, in a way that is not contingent on time-bound or fact-sensitive assessments about the role of strikes within a particular collective bargaining regime. Although a Charter right to strike may involve the courts in difficult choices about when to defer to legislative policy decisions, and courts may lack the institutional capac- ity to deal effectively with labour law issues, the author points out that judges can look to ILO standards for expert guidance. Noting that the U.S. experience in this area might be of considerable use to Canadians, the author concludes by providing an overview of American case law concerning a constitutional right to strike.Peer reviewe
Effective management of type 2 DM in India: Looking at low-cost adjunctive therapy
The prevalence of Diabetes is projected to increase to 80 million by 2030, placing an immense burden on the health care resources of our country. Thus, diabetes poses a challenge to health systems and the individual. Hence, it is necessary to look at adjuncts to effective management of Diabetes; adjuncts which are not resource intensive and are nearer to the community that people live in. Yoga holds promise as a therapeutic intervention and health promotion measure. This brief communication explores the studies done to date on the beneficial effects of Yoga on Diabetes
G-Rank: Unsupervised Continuous Learn-to-Rank for Edge Devices in a P2P Network
Ranking algorithms in traditional search engines are powered by enormous training data sets that are meticulously engineered and curated by a centralized entity. Decentralized peer-to-peer (p2p) networks such as torrenting applications and Web3 protocols deliberately eschew centralized databases and computational architectures when designing services and features. As such, robust search-and-rank algorithms designed for such domains must be engineered specifically for decentralized networks, and must be lightweight enough to operate on consumer-grade personal devices such as a smartphone or laptop computer. We introduce G-Rank, an unsupervised ranking algorithm designed exclusively for decentralized networks. We demonstrate that accurate, relevant ranking results can be achieved in fully decentralized networks without any centralized data aggregation, feature engineering, or model training. Furthermore, we show that such results are obtainable with minimal data preprocessing and computational overhead, and can still return highly relevant results even when a user’s device is disconnected from the network. G-Rank is highly modular in design, is not limited to categorical data, and can be implemented in a variety of domains with minimal modification.
