Asociación de Industriales de Mallorca) fue creada el 16 de julio de 1964: desde
entonces, ASIMA y los polígonos de Can Valero y Son Castelló (Palma) se han
convertido en uno de los ejes más importantes de la economía insular. Por tanto, esta
investigación ofrece un análisis desde una perspectiva académica con el objetivo de
aportar una nueva lectura, tanto histórica como económica, del papel que ha tenido
ASIMA durante sus primeros cincuenta años como herramienta asociativa. Medio
siglo que, en este caso, se ha estudiado a partir de tres etapas evolutivas
diferenciadas: su creación y primeros años (1964-1975), su desarrollo (1975/1977-
1989) y, finalmente, su consolidación (1989-2014). A partir de una extensa base
bibliográfica, complementada con archivos y fuentes de diversa categoría, esta tesis
quiere profundizar en la historia del asociacionismo empresarial de Mallorca a partir
del caso concreto de ASIMA, quedando complementada por otros campos de
estudio como la economía, el turismo, la política o los procesos de industrialización.[cat] L’Associació Sindical d’Industrials de Mallorca (denominada amb posterioritat
Asociació d’Industrials de Mallorca) fou creada el 16 de juliol de 1964; des
d’aleshores, ASIMA i els polígons industrials/empresarials de Can Valero i -Son
Castelló (Palma) s’han convertit en un dels eixos més importants de l’economia
insular. Per tant, aquesta investigació ofereix un anàlisi des d’una perspectiva
acadèmica amb l’objectiu d’aportar una nova lectura, tant històrica com econòmica,
del paper que ha tingut ASIMA durant els seus primers cinquanta anys com a eina
associativa. Mig segle que, en aquest cas, s’ha estudiat a partir de tres etapes
evolutives diferenciades: la seva creació i primers anys (1964-1975), el seu
desenvolupament (1975/1977-1989) i, finalment, la seva consolidació (1989-2014).
A partir d’una extensa base bibliogràfica, complementada amb arxius i fonts de
diversa categoria, aquesta tesi vol aprofundir en la història de l’associacionisme
empresarial de Mallorca a partir del cas concret d’ASIMA, quedant complementada
per altres camps d’estudi com l’economia, el turisme, la política o els processos
d’industrialització.[eng] The Industrial Trade Union Association of Mallorca, La Asociación Sindical de
Industriales de Mallorca (ASIMA), subsequently called Industrial Association of
Mallorca, was created on July 16th, 1964: from that moment on, ASIMA and those
industrial estates such Can Valero and Son Castelló (Palma) have become one of the
most important thrustS of the island’s economy. For that reason, this investigation
offers an analysis from the academic point of view with the purpose of giving
another reading, as in an historical yet as an economical way, of the role that
ASIMA has had during its first fifty years as an associational and analytic tool.
This half century has been examined from three well-differentiated development
stages: its establishment and first years (1964-1975), its growth and development
(1975/1977-1989), and lastly its consolidation (1989-2014). This present thesis
counts with an extensive bibliographic database and it has been complemented with
files and with a variety of diverse sources. It has the aim to go into detail about the
business association of Mallorca, from the specific case of ASIMA so it is will be
brought to completion by other fields of study such as economy, tourism, politics
and the process of industrialization

Emerging Therapeutic Role of CDK Inhibitors in Targeting Cancer Stem Cells
No full textWithin a tumor, Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs) exists and own similar characteristics of a normal stem cell thus contributing towards aggressiveness of cancer by playing crucial role in tumor recurrence and metastasis capability. Various studies have been conducted to therapeutically target CSCs. One of the approaches include is to inhibit cell cycle progression in CSCs. Within last two decades cell cycle and role of various components in its regulation is fi rmly established. Cell cycle is regulated by Cyclin Dependent Kinases (CDK) bound to cyclin. CDK activity can be blocked by CyclinDependent Kinase Inhibitors (CKIs) which can either bind cyclin/CDK complex or CDK alone and thus stops cell cycle. In this review various studies are discussed that have investigated the therapeutic role of CKIs in eradicating CSCs by inhibiting cell cycle. Overall, the analysis suggests that CKIs could be a potential therapeutic option in controlling CSCs populating in a tumor

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
