Health-Care Providers' Preparedness for H1N1/09 Influenza Prevention and Treatment in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In Tanzania, the first case of H1N1/09 influenza was reported in September 2009. By March 2010, the reported number of cases was 770 with one death. Due to shortage of qualified human resources, essential medicines and laboratory supplies in health facilities, it was not known how well health-care providers in the country were prepared to deal with the pandemic. The study was conducted from December 2009 to May 2010 in public hospitals and private community pharmacies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Fifty-three prescribers and 200 dispensers were interviewed to assess their knowledge on the prevention and treatment of H1N1/09 influenza, and dissemination of correct information to the public regarding the pandemic. Most participants had inadequate knowledge on the transmission, prevention and management of H1N1/09 influenza. The majority of prescribers knew neither the antiviral drugs recommended for the treatment of H1N1 influenza (64%) nor their adverse effects (92.5%). The drug dispensers' knowledge was also inadequate regarding the transmission, prevention and treatment of H1N1/09 influenza. Forty-one (20.5%) salespersons without formal training in pharmaceutical or medical sciences were found dispensing and supervising the pharmacies. Most participants had misconceptions on how H1N1/09 virus was transmitted. The results of the study revealed gaps in the knowledge of the health-care providers on the prevention and treatment of H1N1/09 influenza infection. This indicates the need for strengthening of health-care systems and provision of continuing education and professional development for health-care providers on new and re-emerging diseases in the community.\u

The white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) often shows a positive relationship between population density and fragmentation. Severe habitat fragmentation creates geographical barriers, which concurrently serve as dispersal barriers for those populations residing within the heterogeneous landscape. Furthermore, variation in discharge of pollutants in urban ecosystems, compared to that of agriculture and rural ecosystems, exerts unique selective pressures on local populations. To study the effects of evolutionary section due habitat fragmentation and environmental stressors on this ubiquitous species, P. leucopus were live trapped along an urban-rural gradient in the Chicago region. Twenty-eight locations were selected from four landscape types within the greater Chicago area: (1) urban (2) suburban, (3) agriculture, and (4) macrosite. This selection procedure broadly identified an area proceeding south of downtown Chicago, then west, as maximizing the diversity of land coverages along the gradient. These sites were all standardized on oak woodlands. Approximately 600 unique individuals were sampled during 2014 to 2017 and a 2-mm tissue sample collected to analyze genetic variation along the 70-km gradient. DNA was isolated using QAmp Blood and Tissue Kit following manufacturer’s protocol. A melting curve was established using a temperature gradient Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) assay. Based on the results from the melting curve assay, 12 individual PCR assays were established. Currently, preliminary work on genomic analysis of each individual sample is under way at the Pritzker Laboratory at the Field Museum of Natural History. This will involve estimates of genetic isolation among different field sites

Mapping the Scholarly publications of Central University of Gujarat
The study attempts to analyze research publications of Central University of Gujarat (CUG) during the period of 2010 - 2020. The bibliographic data for this study was extracted from the Scopus database. This paper analyses 771 research papers published by Central University of Gujarat during the period under the study. The study examine the year-wise research publications, authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, types of document, preferred journals for publication, prolific author, h-index, most collaborating institutions and countries etc. Additionally, in this research paper different software used e.g. ‘MS-Excel’, ‘bibliometrix’ & ‘biblioshiny’ of R-Package, VOSviwer applied for the analysis and data visualizations. The research findings indicate that the growth of literature pattern is linear, and journals articles (561) are the most preferred form of publications by the researchers to communicate their research. Degree of Collaboration (DC) 0.728 indicates that the most research work jointly carried out by research scholars of Central University of Gujarat (CUG). Singh M. is found to be the most prolific author and the Journal of Molecular Liquids is the most preferred Journal. The top 10 most cited publications were used from that only one paper was two-authored and received highest 439 citations found and other 9 research papers were shown multiple-authored. In Jawaharlal Nehru University (60) and Banasthali Vidyapith (39) were the leading collaborating Institutions. The USA, Australia, South Africa, UK, and Canada were the top five most collaborative countries. The subject Chemistry was most prominent research area during the study period. The CUG has to make more effort to promote research and develop quality culture, attention of developing better policies to enhance and enrich the research performance
Citation Patterns followed in Research Papers of the DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology
The paper presents Citation patterns of 6914 citations appearing in 399 papers published in DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology from 2012 to 2018. The researcher identified in the paper were Volume-wise Analysis of Citations per Article, authorship pattern, forms of literature, Chronological Analysis of Citations and a ranked list of top 25 cited Library Science journals. The most cited author of DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology was Gupta B.M. The study finds that highest number of citations was single-authored (51.59 %), and 6.72 % citations were from books and only 55.07% citations were from journals. Chronological distribution of cited reference has been analyzed that the maximum number of citations are covered during the period of 2001-2010 i.e. 55647 (38.18 %)
