    Estudio del crecimiento de la planta y del fruto de tres híbridos de tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.) en tiempo fisiológico, bajo cubierta plástica

    El tomate es la hortaliza con mayor área cultivada y mayor consumo en el mundo. Mediante un análisis funcional de crecimiento es posible establecer el patrón de crecimiento de las plantas de tomate y de los frutos, así como determinar la velocidad y dinámica de este crecimiento. Se desconoce el crecimiento de plantas y de fruto y la producción de los híbridos de tomate Beverly, Franco y SVR. El objetivo fue realizar el estudio del crecimiento de la planta y del fruto de tres híbridos de tomate larga vida en tiempo fisiológico, bajo cubierta plástica en San Antonio del Tequendama, Cundinamarca. Para el estudio del crecimiento de la planta se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar con 3 tratamientos correspondientes a los 3 híbridos. Para el crecimiento del fruto se utilizó un diseño en bloques al azar con 3 bloques, los bloques correspondieron al híbrido de tomate, cada bloque tuvo 4 repeticiones, compuesta c/u por 1 planta, y dentro de cada bloque se distribuyeron al azar 6 tratamientos correspondientes a la ubicación del fruto en el primer racimo. En la planta se hicieron muestreos quincenales desde el momento del transplante hasta el despunte en el racimo número 12, en los frutos las mediciones se realizaron cada 15 días desde la formación del primer fruto. El crecimiento de la planta y del fruto se ajustó a un modelo logístico. El híbrido Franco se caracterizó por presentar plantas con mayor altura, masa seca de hojas y de tallo, mientras que los híbridos Beverly y SVR fueron muy similares. El hibrido Franco presentó frutos con un diámetro mayor, seguido del hibrido Beverly. La posición del fruto en el primer racimo tuvo un comportamiento diferencial e inverso, siendo el fruto 1 el de mayor tamaño y el fruto 6 el más pequeño. SVR tuvo un buen comportamiento en la producción y aunque no tuvo alta cantidad de extra, si se caracterizó por una gran producción de calidad primera y segunda, mientras que el Franco presentó los frutos de mayor tamaño pero una menor producción que SVR. Beverly tuvo la menor producción y menor calibre de frutos.Abstract. The tomato is the vegetable with the most production area and highest consumption in the world. Through a functional analysis of growth is possible to establish the pattern of growth of tomato plants and fruits, as well as to determine the speed and dynamics of this growth. The plant growth and fruit and production of tomato hybrids Beverly, Franco and SVR are not known. The objective was to realize a study of plant and fruit growth and the fruit quality of three long-life tomato hybrids in physiological time, under plastic cover in San Antonio del Tequendama, Cundinamarca. For the growth study a completely randomized design was used with three treatments corresponding to the three hybrids. For fruit growth a randomized block design was used with three blocks, the blocks corresponded to hybrid tomatoes, each block had four repetitions, and each repetition was composed by a plant, and within each block was randomly assigned 6 treatments corresponding to the location of the fruit in the first cluster. Samples were taken fortnightly from the moment of transplant until the pruning in the cluster number 12. From the fruits the measurements were taken every 15 days since the formation of the first fruit. The growth of the plant and the fruit was adjusted to a logistic model. The Franco hybrid was characterized by greater plant height, dry mass of leaves and stem, while Beverly and SVR hybrids were very similar. The Franco hybrid presented the fruit with a larger diameter, followed by Beverly hybrid. The position of the fruit in the first cluster had a differential and opposite behaviour, being the fruit number 1 the largest and number 6 the smallest fruit. SVR hybrid had a high yield not in the extra class, but with a high production of the first and second quality, while Franco presented the fruits with greatest size, but with a lower production than SVR. Beverly had the lowest yields and smaller size of fruits.Otr

    Efecto de la poda de formación y del número de tallos y de racimos sobre la producción y calidad de frutos de lulo (Solanum quitoense var. septentrionale)

    ilustraciones, gráficas, tablasEl lulo es una de las frutas con mayor potencialidad para ser exportado, debido a la calidad de los frutos, valor nutritivo y los múltiples usos agroindustriales que presenta. El cultivo de lulo se maneja principalmente basado en el conocimiento tradicional de los agricultores, debido a que la investigación en aspectos fisiológicos es escasa y no existe información científica acerca del efecto de la poda en el comportamiento fotosintético, producción y calidad poscosecha de los frutos. El objetivo de éste trabajo fue evaluar el efecto del número de tallos y racimos por planta sobre la fotosíntesis, producción y calidad poscosecha de lulo. Se utilizó un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con arreglo factorial de tratamientos (3x3+1), en donde el primer factor correspondió al número de tallos por planta (3, 4 ó 5) y el segundo factor fue el número de racimos por planta (20, 30 o 40), además se incluyó un testigo (sin poda). Los resultados muestran que la poda (número de tallos y racimos) no afecta negativamente las variables relacionadas con la fotosíntesis como fotosíntesis neta (Fn), conductancia estomática (gs), carbono intercelular (Ci), contenido de clorofilas y humedad relativa de la hoja. Mientras que en producción y poscosecha se encontró que los tratamientos que involucraban 20 racimos por planta, presentaron el menor número y producción de frutos totales, aunque con la mayor proporción de frutos en las categorías extra y primera, mientras que los tratamientos con 40 racimos mostraron mayor producción de frutos totales, aunque con la menor proporción de frutos en las categorías extra y primera. Se encontró una correlación positiva entre el número de tallos por planta y el número y producción de frutos en categorías extra y primera. Por su parte, en las variables poscosecha, el índice de color, firmeza, contenido de clorofilas, contenido de carotenoides, sólidos solubles totales, acidez total titulable y la relación de madurez no presentaron cambios significativos debidos a los diferentes tratamientos de poda, lo cual indica que el proceso de maduración no se vio afectado con la poda de la planta. Lulo crop is mainly carried out based on traditional knowledge, because research in physiological aspects is scarce and there is no scientific information about the effect of pruning on photosynthetic behavior, production and postharvest quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the number of stems and clusters per plant on photosynthesis, yield and postharvest quality of lulo. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with four blocks and factorial arrangement of treatments (3x3+1), where, the first factor corresponded to the number of stems per plant (3, 4 or 5) and the second factor was the number of clusters per plant (20, 30 or 40), besides a control (without pruning) was included. The results show that pruning (number of stems and clusters) does not adversely affect the variables related to photosynthesis, such as, net photosynthesis (Pn), stomatal conductance (gs), intercellular carbon (Ci), chlorophyll content and leaf relative humidity. On the other hand in production and quality was found that treatments involving 20 clusters per plant had the lowest production of total fruits, although the highest proportion of fruit in the extra and first categories, while treatments with 40 clusters showed the highest number and total production of fruits, but the lowest proportion of fruit in the extra and first categories. There was a positive correlation between the number of stems per plant and the number and fruit production in extra and first categories. Meanwhile, in postharvest variables, index color, firmness, chlorophyll content, carotenoid content, total soluble solids, total titratable acidity and maturity ratio no showed significant changes due to different pruning treatments, which indicates that the ripening of lulo‟s fruits was not affected by pruning.MaestríaMagíster en Ciencias AgrariasFisiología de cultivosCiencias Agronómica

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
