No full textThis study explores how female leaders are perceived in the European context, where they continue to face a paradoxical double bind: assertiveness is often labelled as excessive, while empathy may be interpreted as weakness. Grounded in Social Role Theory and Role Congruity Theory, the research examines how gender stereotypes, emotional expectations, and culturally ingrained social norms shape the perception of leadership. The study does not advocate a specific solution, but it aims to contribute to a critical dialogue by illuminating the psychological and structural complexities underpinning gendered leadership evaluations. Employing an exploratory sequential qualitative design, the research combines a preliminary survey of 201 business students across EU countries with in-depth, semi-structured interviews with experienced leaders from diverse European industries. The survey provided generational insights into gendered leadership perceptions and informed the development of the interview guide. The interviews revealed that, despite increasing openness toward inclusive leadership models, deeply rooted implicit biases and gendered expectations persist. Female leaders reported heightened scrutiny, the need to balance confidence with likeability, and continued emotional double standards. The findings suggest that structural progress alone is insufficient without a concurrent cultural shift in how leadership is both defined and recognised. Rather than viewing gender equity as a matter of ticking boxes, the study highlights the need to challenge implicit mental models that privilege traditional, often masculine, leadership archetypes. Ultimately, the thesis calls for a redefinition of leadership ideals that transcends gendered assumptions, paving the way for a more psychologically inclusive and socially responsive leadership culture.Tato studie zkoumá, jak jsou ženy ve vedoucích rolích vnímány v evropském prostředí, kde stále čelí rozporuplným nárokům: rozhodnost je jim často vyčítána jako přílišná tvrdost, zatímco empatie bývá považována za projev slabosti. Výzkum vychází z teorie sociálních rolí (Social Role Theory) a teorie souladu mezi rolí a stereotypem (Role Congruity Theory) a zaměřuje se na to, jak představy o mužských a ženských rolích, emoční očekávání a kulturně zakořeněné normy ovlivňují vnímání leadershipu. Práce si neklade za cíl nabídnout jednoznačné řešení, ale usiluje o prohloubení odborné diskuse tím, že upozorňuje na psychologické a systémové překážky, které ovlivňují hodnocení žen ve vedoucích pozicích. Výzkum využívá postup kvalitativního zkoumání ve dvou fázích (exploratory sequential qualitative design) – nejprve formou dotazníkového šetření mezi 201 studenty ekonomických a manažerských oborů napříč zeměmi EU, následně pomocí hloubkových polo-strukturovaných rozhovorů se zkušenými vedoucími pracovníky z různých evropských odvětví. Dotazník přinesl generační pohled na to, jak se vedení vnímá u mužů a žen, a pomohl vytvořit rámec pro rozhovory. Ty ukázaly, že přestože roste otevřenost vůči rozmanitějším stylům vedení, přetrvávají zakořeněné předsudky a očekávání spojená s pohlavím. Ženy ve vedení mluvily o zvýšené míře hodnocení, potřebě vyvažovat sebedůvěru s oblíbeností a o trvajících dvojích měřítkách v oblasti emocí. Závěry naznačují, že samotné strukturální změny nestačí – je třeba i kulturní posun v tom, jak vedení chápeme a oceňujeme. Místo formálního naplňování rovnosti mezi muži a ženami studie upozorňuje na nutnost narušit hluboce zakořeněné představy, které zvýhodňují tradiční – často mužsky definované – ideály vedení. Práce proto vybízí k novému pojetí leadershipu, které by překonávalo stereotypní předpoklady a směřovalo k psychologicky otevřenějšímu a společensky citlivějšímu stylu řízení
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
