A Study on the spatial-temporal dynamics of wormholes in a Braneworld model / Anuar Alias
The dynamic wormhole models that were previously introduced focused on the dynamics of the wormhole itself of either rotating or evolutionary in characteristics and in various frameworks. In this thesis we show the dynamic factor that represents the spatial dynamics in terms of spacetime expansion and contraction in braneworld cosmology framework affects the changes at the throat of the wormhole by either decreasing or increasing the stress energy tensor respectively. This implies an interesting finding concerning the effects of cosmological expansion and contraction of the universe or in general the surrounding space of wormholes that is expanding or contracting from and toward the wormholes respectively. Furthermore, the gravitational lens of a wormhole was also introduced by various researchers. Their treatment was focused basically on the lens signature that describes wormhole geometrical character such as the differences from a black hole or between any various types of wormhole models. The braneworld scenario provides the idea of spacetime with underlying extra-dimensions. The inclusion of extra-dimensional terms in the gravitational lens object spacetime line element will result in some variation in the expression for its gravitational lens deflection angle. In this thesis we investigate such variation by deriving this deflection angle expression. Thus this study not only shows the existence of such variation but also suggests the potential utilization of gravitational lensing to prove the existence of extra dimensions by studying the deflection angle characteristic in accordance with the spacetime expansion rate of the universe
Developing a compensation framework for land acquisition affecting Orang Asli native lands / Anuar Alias
This research explores the issues of land rights and land acquisition compensation related to the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia. Acquisition of Orang Asli native lands is inevitable as land is scarce to meet the national growth agenda and socio-economic developments. As an independent country, Malaysia provides constitutional guarantees, and customary land tenure is recognised and respected. Unfortunately, since land rights of Orang AsIi native land are not being clearly defined in Malaysian legal system, payment of compensation to acquisition of the land is unstructured, and disparity exists among the different states. lt is therefore pertinent to propose a uniform compensation
framework for the acquisition of Orang AsIi native lands. The research adopts various approaches of study and triangulates the findings. The case study and quantitative survey methods are the main strategies for data collection, reinforced by the qualitative survey
method using the Delphi Method in which consultation was sought from the experts on land acquisition compensation of Orang asli lands to enhance the validity of the research findings.
This research revealed that laws of Malaysia are lacking with regard to the protection of Orang asli lands and rights to fair and just compensation. This research concludes that the posotion of Orang Asli land rights has not much improved. Due to this unresolved land rights issue, the present structure of compensation as spelt out under the sections 11 and 12 of the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954 is perceived as inadequate. At present, in the absence of proper guidelines and regulations, the determination of compensation is solely based on the discretion of the various authorities. Some authorities apply the rules rigidly, while others are too generous. Additionally, this research proposes a compensation framework for land acquisition of Orang Asli native lands, which should possess two categories of compensation - monetary and non-monetary components. Finally, the research argues that proposed compensation framework is 'implementable and workable'. However, the degree of success in its implementation is subject to how far the Orang Asli land rights are resolved
Comparison method - preference of adjustment techniques among valuers
This paper discusses the adjustment techniques applied by valuers in determining the market value of the property. There are several types of adjustment techniques that can be applied in comparison method such as summative pecentage, dollar percentage, add and/or subtract percentage, and proper base adjustments. In order to investigate the most preferred adjustment techniques applied by valuers in Malaysia as well as the elements of adjustment, a questionnaire survey is conducted that involves valuers from government and private sectors as respondents. The research reveals that the most preferred adjustment technique among valuers in Malaysia is the summative percentage method with the sequence of adjustment based on the ranking order of tenure, date of transaction, location, physical characteristics, economic, land use and zoning, quantum, topography, and financial terms. This study benefits the profession of real estate especially to practising valuers in Malaysia
Schrodinger equation in string theory
String theory is currently considered as the leading candidate for a unified theory of physics combining the Standard Model of forces and particles with gravity which is best described by Einstein theory of General Relativity. Contrary to classical model of point particle, String theory proposes that matter, force, even space and time are composed of tiny vibrating strings. This paper is to elaborate on the correspondence between string states and quantum fields by initially constructing general time-dependent states from string basis states analogous to general timedependent super-positions of basis states for a point particle. From this derivation we can show that an equation emerges from the \u27classical\u27 Schrodinger equation that represents the Schrodinger equation in String theory. This is very interesting to investigate since the Schrodinger equation is at the core of Quantum Mechanics which is the foundation of Standard Model that is the pillar of Nuclear physics
Compensation for Orang Asli native land in Malaysia: the perceptions and challenges in its quantification
This paper describes the results of an inve s tigation on the challenges confronting valuers in dealing with the assessment of compensation for Orang AsH native land (OANL). In Malaysia, valuers are often ambivalent about assessing the worth of Orang AsHproperty rightsthis is because the conventional valuation toolkits are \u27ill-equipped\u27 to cope with the multi-faceted issues involved in valuing such lands. Orang AsH view the worth of their lands from a mult itud e of dimensions (spiritual, cultural, communa l and economic), and this often takes the value consideration far beyond that contemplated by private registered land owners. The study also looks into the compensation for native titles in o the r countries and draws local parallel to the problem. The key issu es that have been identified include the valu ation approachesland rightsmonetary and nonmonetary compensa tionlegal framework andnegotiatio n for compensation. Internet marketing of residential properties: investigation on effectiveness of its application
Challenges and control mechanism for development on highland and steep slope: the case of Klang Valley
Development in highland areas carries a high risk of erosion and an increased risk of landslides
both during and after construction. Since 1990, more than 13 cases of highland development
incidents in the Klang Valley have been reported in newspapers, of which a few involved
deaths of people. Hence, this paper discusses the issues and challenges of land development
in highland and steep slope areas. The study also shows the effect of control mechanisms
on the challenges identified in highland development. The quantitative survey adopted in this
study was based on a framework developed from literature reviews. 200 questionnaires were
distributed to relevant government agencies and developers. Of those, 157 found to be useful
for data analysis. SPSS version 18.0 was used as the main tool for the data analyses. From the
study, five dimensions of issues surrounding highland development were identified: planning,
environmental, economic, social, and land development. Two main control mechanisms were
also identified, namely the One Stop Centre (OSC) and the sustainable development approach.
The associative test revealed that there were two significant relationships between control
mechanisms and the challenges of highland development, which indicates the effectiveness of
these mechanisms in addressing current problems

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.
