Ansar al-Sunna and Women’s Agency in Sudan: A Salafi Approach to Empowerment through Gender Segregation

    No full text
This article explores the possibilities, limits, and paradox of Salafi female agency at a time when Ansar al-Sunna is assuming a new political role under the rule of an Islamizing state in Sudan. The Islam Ansar al-Sunna preaches is Salafism and is based on the idea that there is a unitary Islamic doctrine and only one correct understanding of the Quran and the Sunna. That one correct understanding of Islam dictates gender segregation. Introducing new empirical data on a largely understudied movement from Sudan, the article argues that in its attempt to introduce gender segregation Ansar al-Sunna has provided (perhaps unintentionally) a space for women’s empowerment. Despite Ansar al-Sunna disavowing women’s political participation based on arguments that women are more emotional and less rational than men, the women have begun to challenge this stance of the unitary Islamic doctrine. Women have begun to participate politically as a consequence of: (1) the opening of a segregated Ansar al-Sunna women’s center in which leadership fall to women themselves and therefore constitutes a parallel form of governance within the movement, and (2) the political context in which Ansar al-Sunna are entangled within Sudan’s Islamic state, in which they struggle to distinguish themselves from Islamism. While women are challenging the male leadership’s position that women’s biological makeup excludes them from making sound political decisions, they are simultaneously maintaining and inhabiting norms of gender segregation and thus implicitly and explicitly critiquing state-induced gender mixing in the name of Islam. Internet of Things and Blockchain Technology in Apparel Manufacturing Supply Chain Data Management

    No full text
The rapid changes in textile and clothing industry's operational environment in which apparel businesses are collaborating with their suppliers and customers have recognized interoperability of information systems as an important factor. The need to address this challenge becomes vital in the context of new paradigms such as the Internet of Things (IoT), and its ability to capture real-time information from different parts of textile and cloth manufacturing value chain by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and sensors-based data communication networks. In this process, enterprise information system architecture plays an important role in storing, processing, and distributing data. Despite contributing to the rapid development of IoT applications, the current IoT-centric architecture has led to a myriad of isolated data silos. This paper presents a blockchain-based architecture for the IoT applications, which brings distributed data management to support transactions services within a multi-party apparel business supply chain network. Ansar in political history of İslam

İlk dönem İslâm siyasî tarihinde önemli rol oynayan topluluklarından birini Ensar oluşturur. Mekke'de İslâm'ı tebliğ etmeye imkân kalmayınca Hz. Peygamber (s) ve ashabı Medine'ye hicret etti. Medinelilerin İslâm'a gösterdikleri büyük ilgi onları kısa sürede yeni dinin en büyük destekçilerinden biri haline getirdi. Mekkelilere ve İslâm'a gösterdikleri büyük yardımseverlikten dolayı Ensar olarak adlandırıldılar. Ensar, Hz. Hz. Ali'nin şehid edilmesiyle son bulan Hz. Ali-Muaviye mücadelesinde Ensar'ın büyük kısmı tercihini Hz. Ali'den yana kullanmış, Cemel ve Sıffin savaşlarında onunla birlikte savaşmışlardır.The Ansar was one of the communities which play key role in the political history of early Islamic civilizations. Once the notification of Islam became impossible in Mecca, Prophet Muhammad and his companions migrated to Medina. Owing to the great interest in the Islam, Medinese people became one of the biggest supporters of the new religion in a short time. Medinese people were called as the Ansar in view of their great help to the Muhajirs and Islam. The Ansar took an active role in political and administrative matters when the Prophet was alive. They contributed to the Islamic civilization as soldiers and commanders in wartime; and as tax officers, governors, teachers of religion in peacetime. After the death of Prophet Muhammad, Sakif meetings initiated a new era during which the Ansar's influence on the political life of the Islam decreased. In this new era called as the Rashidun Caliphate, the Ansar mostly took part in administrative tasks. Nevertheless, they were the ones who were consulted and whose ideas were appreciated. Especially in the era of Caliph Omar, many administrative duties were fulfilled by Ansar. In the towns recently conquered, they served as either the governors or the officers in various levels of the government. For various reasons, the Ansar remained passive in the events which happened in the era of Caliph Othman and resulted in the murder of Caliph Othman. They were appointed as governors in many places during the era of Caliph Ali; however, they could not become stable in these duties due to the disorder from which the state suffered. The great majority of the Ansar have preferred to support Caliph Ali in his fight with Muawiyah, as a result of which Caliph Ali was killed as a martyr. They also fought in collaboration with Caliph Ali at wars of Jamal and Sıffin

Chérif Ousmane Madani Haidara and the Islamic Movement Ansar Dine: A Popular Malian Reformism in Search of Autonomy

International audienceChérif Ousmane Madani Haidara and the Islamic Movement Ansar Dine: A Popular Malian Reformism in Search of Autonomy. In this text I analyze the Islamic Movement Ansar Dine, established in 1991 by Chérif Ousmane Madani Haidara, a charismatic figure who has transformed the modalities of expression of Islam in Mali. Ansar Dine is a hybrid organization, which can be placed somewhere between an association in a civil society, a charitable NGO, an intraworldly brotherhood, and a federalist internationalism. With more than seventy thousand members, mainly in Mali, the Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso, Ansar Dine is a critical platform in opposition to the establishment and the principal force challenging the Sunnite reformism commonly labeled as “Whahhabite” reformism. It advocates an “African” reformism and an Islamic confirmation based on a Koranic pledge called bayah. Despite increasing tensions between the charismatic and the bureaucratic powers within the organization, Ansar Dine’s aim is for a spiritual, social, economic, and political autonomy based on “populist” reason.

Cloud Acknowledgment Scheme for a Node Network

Recently, wireless devices are rapidly added to existing networks. This growth is due to abrupt development in technology and change of lifestyle. Due to the distribution nature of these networks, it is essential to mention that there is a substantial increase in the number of attacks as the network is expanding. By virtue of such trend, we are interested in bringing back centralization of a network even in wireless networks to deal with such attacks. In this paper, we propose a scheme called Cloud ACKnowledgement Scheme (CACKS) to strengthen a wireless network by fetching cloud as a monitoring tool. To validate our proposed approach, we performed several experiments using OMNET++ 5.4.1. The outcome of these experiments shows that the proposed scheme strongly monitors and protects the network from attackers while supporting unrestricted mobility. (C) 2019 The Authors. Late harvest associated with P and S fertilization enhances yield and quality of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), grown as a rainfed crop in Pakistan

    No full text
To investigate the effect of harvest time associated with P and S fertilization on yield and quality of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench), grown as a rainfed crop in Pakistan, a field study was carried in summer 2009. Three levels of phosphorus (0, 30 and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1), in combination with three levels of sulphur (0, 20 and 40 kg SO4 ha-1), in combination with three harvest times (35, 45 and 55 days after emergence; DAE), were tested in a factorial randomized block design. At each harvest, morphological, functional, yield and quality traits were assessed on plant samples. Extending the growing season from DAE 35 to 55 enhanced almost all the traits and greatly benefited dry biomass yield (ca. +100%). The longer growth also determined a higher efficiency in the accumulation of dry biomass per unit time and land surface (crop growth rate ca. +30%), as well as per unit time and leaf surface (net assimilation rate ca. +100%). Quality traits also improved when plants were harvested at a more advanced maturity: leaf hydrocyanic acid content, a toxic component to livestock, decreased by ca. 30%; stalk soluble-solid content, an indicator of forage juiciness and palatability, increased by ca. 50%. On concluding, the combined effects of harvest delay, P and S fertilization on sorghum are deemed able to significantly increase forage production in warm, relatively dry areas of the world

Experienced people today are one of the most important assets of any organization. These people have acquired sufficient knowledge through years of experience and education as well as through various training courses. For this reason, one of the main concerns of many organizations is to use the knowledge of experienced retirees and transfer them to other people and employees of the organization. In this regard, the present study aimed to present a Framework for implementing knowledge management of outgoing employees of Ansar Bank. The present study is applied in terms of fundamental purpose and descriptive in nature. The sampling used in this study was simple random sampling with snowball sampling. The main basis for gathering information has been to conduct in-depth interviews with experts from the academic and academic community as well as specialists and managers of Ansar Bank to achieve theoretical saturation. A total of 19 interviews were conducted. After gathering information, the interview codes were analyzed. After discussing the totals obtained from the interviews conducted in the present study, the map of the totals obtained from this information was presented as a final Framework. The final Framework shows that the knowledge management of the departing Ansar Bank employees consists of 32 code and 8 concepts in two categories. Knowledge Management Emerging Personnel from Ansar Bank was formed in 8 concepts: knowledge transfer tools, enhancing engagement, processes, training, incentives, systems, information evaluation and knowledge storage and retention tools. It is recommended that Ansar Bank take each of these components and tools seriously and implement the practices introduced in this research step by step in order to successfully implement and improve its knowledge management status
