Subject and methods The research tool was an anonymous, original questionnaire designed for the purpose of the study. The questionnaire was distributed among 439 people. In the first stage, authors selected randomly two fields of study at Medical University of Warsaw. Next, three years of study were randomly selected in these two chosen fields. Results Nearly 40% of the students admitted that they have donated blood or other compounds. There is statistically significant relation (p=0.0000, Fi=0.25) between blood donation and place of residence of respondents. Students living in cities more seldom showed they have donated blood or other compound. The most common reason that impels students to donate blood is the desire to help another human being. Conclusions The level of students' knowledge about blood donations issue is not good enough. It is recommended to introduce intensive information campaigns about the need of blood donation, for example in the form of social campaigns. Key words: blood donations, donor, blood transfusion, health promotion.Olejniczak Dominik, Grochowska Ewa, Czerw Aleksandra, Juszczyk Grzegorz, Religioni Urszula, Duda-Zalewska Aneta, Staniszewska Anna, Mikos Marcin. No full text
Italian dialects occupy an important position in the history of Italian linguistics and are still present and relevant in the linguistic panorama of modern Italy. The purpose of this article is to outline the linguistic image of Italy by drawing attention to its dialects. Through analysis of the situation after unification in Italy in 1861, the author attempts to mark off functions and roles which dialects used to serve. In the second part of the article she concentrates on the phenomena of nuova dialettalità, or the new perspective and collocation of dialect in the Italian linguistic panorama of the 21st century. This article is a part of a research project dedicated to functions and uses of dialects in the Italian cinematography.XL32Studia Romanica Posnaniensi

It is a relatively rare cause of pleural effusion in children and its annual incidence is 14 cases per 100 000 children in Europe. The pleural fluid triglyceride level greater than 110 mg/dl with a cholesterol level lower than 200 mg/dl confirms the diagnosis of chylothorax. Medical imaging are also necessary such as a non-invasive and easily accessible lung ultrasound. Symptoms of this disease are tachypnea, dyspnea, and in some cases dry cough. This review aims to summarize the current literature regarding chylothorax in children, analyze its possible etiologies and treatments. The causes of chylothorax are varied. It may appear after surgical interventions, traumas, infections and also be congenital. Iatrogenic factors are the most common cause of chylothorax in children with cardiothoracic surgeries. Management of chylothorax can be quite complex and highly variable, depending on patient’s condition and their response to the introduced treatment. Conservative treatment consisting of nutrition therapy, chest drain, and pharmacotherapy is typically a first-line of treatment. Diet modification consist in dietary supplements enriched with medium chain triglycerides (MCT) or starting the patient on a total parenteral nutrition (TPN). In most of the analyzed cases the conservative treatment alone proved sufficient in the management of chylothorax. In case of its failure, surgical treatment was a secondary therapy choice. One of the most common surgical procedures for pleural effusion is a thoracic duct ligation (TDL) or pleurodesis and both of these methods are highly effective therapy for chylothorax. This review of the literature reveals a wide variety of causes and methods of treatment of chylothorax. There are no clear standards of management and the therapy is adjusted to the clinical condition of the patient. Key words: chylothorax; paediatrics; thoracic duct ligation; low fat die

Incompatibility of form of placement in spatial plants – method of identification of potential spatial and functional conflcts

    No full text
This article deals with the subject of spatial conflicts in metropolitan areas. It examines potential conflicts which are understood as a set of spatial and functional phenomena resulting from spatial planning policies carried out by local governments. The main aim of the research conducted as part of this article was to identify potential conflicts in spatial planning. The practical goal of this paper is to propose a method of identifying spatial conflicts and make recommendations for landscape policies and draw up planning studies on the local level. The choice of methodology was based on the assumption that spatial conflicts occur predominantly on the borders between various communes. The main research material were analyses of conditions and trends in spatial development planning.

The doctoral dissertation focuses on the presence and use of regional stereotypes in Italian comedies of the commedia all'italiana genre as well as the use of related language forms belonging to the dialectal tradition. Based on the corpus of ten films from 1958-1968 belonging to the so-called commedia all'italiana genre, the author analyzed four most frequent regional stereotypes – ihabitants of Rome, Milan, Sicily and the Veneto region – together with their dialectal linguistics attributes appearing at all levels of linguistics analysis.

Liczba członków w dniu założenia wynosiła 25, a pierwszą przewodniczącą została prof. Irena Rejment-Grochowska. Niestety, nie zdążyła wypracować formy działania utworzonej przez siebie Sekcji, bo nieoczekiwanie zmarła pół roku później, 6 maja 1979 roku. Jej obowiązki przejął prof. Jerzy Szweykowski." Motyw maski we włoskiej komedii teatralnej i filmowej

    No full text
The mask is an omnipresent and meaningful element of the Italian, as well as European culture. It was used to fulfill disparate roles. In the theater the mask was used to depict the caricatures of gods, heroes or popular types and with the passage of time it became established on the theatrical scene of the Renaissance, commedia dell'arte or Goldoni's. With such a profound and strong tradition, it's not a surprise that the phenomenon of mask has passed to the cinema. The present contribution proposes to analyze briefly the most significant moments of the mask on the Italian stages of the past and then to pay attention to the use of the mask or its elements in the cinema. The most interest will be dedicated to the films of Italian-style comedy, the genre born in the late Fifties, when Italy was about to live the Italian economic miracle, and its characters which seem to be the new version of the mask. The author will concentrate on four the most popular types which clearly recall masks of the past, as well as reflect some new tendencies.

    No full text

Passive auxiliaries in Italian FL didactics

    No full text
This article attempts to examine the passive auxiliaries in modern Italian and how they are presented to the Italian language learners. A growing body of research has been throwing light on the fact that the passive auxiliaries are not only the canonical essere and venire, but also andare, which is open to a twofold interpretation («modal passive» and «loss passive»), as well as rimanere, restare, trovarsi, vedersi and finire. In view of this, the analysis of syllabi of Italian L2 and of Italian grammar books has been carried out. The analysis of seven syllabi has confirmed the tendency to introduce the passive voice at B2 level. As far as auxiliaries are concerned, the syllabi refer explicitly to five: essere, venire, andare, restare andrimanere. The second analysis, carried out on sixteen grammar textbooks for Italian language learning, has shown some weakness regarding the teaching of passive auxiliaries, such as a) lack of any semantic differentiation between use of essere and venire; b) a certain selectivity in presenting aspects of the remainder of auxiliaries (andare, rimanere, vedersi, trovarsi and finire are rarely presented in their entirety); c) various theoretical disagreements in the presentation of the rules that guide the use of passive auxiliaries. This article attempts to examine the passive auxiliaries in modern Italian and how they are presented to the Italian language learners.
