No full textAlthought, since 1930, chestnut growing has experienced a heavy fall, in the last years we are attending a renewed interest in chestnuts from custumers and agricultural and food industry. This phenomenon is due to a revalutation of culinary tradition, nutritive properties attributes to this fruit, and to the increasing search of genuine and naturale products. The valorisation of this culture is difficul because of many factors:
seasonal production, innefficient post-harvesting and pack technology, indifference from promotion and marketing activity and chestnut’s technological limits. But, if suitably treat, the chestnut and their derivatives are versatile raw material with interesting chemical – structural properties, infact they are able to be used to realize innovation produtcts, this no conventional products, supporting tradictional preparation, allow to open up new markets. Therefore for relaunch the chestnuts growing is necessary to realized a cooperative union between tradition and innovation, so that the fruits of the imposing “tree’s bred” maintain deeply bond with past tradition and at the same time join in Third Millennium with renewed interest.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sebbene, a partire dal 1930, la castanicoltura abbia subito una forte flessione, negli ultimi anni si è assistito ad un rinnovato interesse da parte dei consumatori e dell’industria agro-alimentare verso castagne e marroni. Tale fenomeno è attribuibile ad un atteggiamento di rivalutazione delle tradizioni culinarie, delle proprietà nutritive attribuite a questi frutti e alla crescente ricerca di prodotti associati a giudizi di genuinità e naturalezza. La valorizzazione della coltura è resa però difficile da diversi fattori quali la stagionalità del prodotto, inefficienti tecniche di post raccolta e condizionamento, disinteresse da parte delle attività di promozione e marketing e limiti tecnologici del frutto stesso.
Castagne ed i loro derivati, se idoneamente trattati, rappresentano una materia prima versatile con interessanti proprietà chimico–strutturali che le rendono atte per la 4
realizzazione di prodotti di nuova concezione, i quali, affiancandosi ai prodotti tradizionali, consentirebbero di individuare nuovi sbocchi di mercato. Per rilanciare il settore è quindi fondamentale realizzare un cooperativo connubio fra tradizione ed innovazione, affinché i frutti del maestoso “albero del pane” mantengano saldamente il legame con le tradizioni del passato e contemporaneamente si apprestino ad entrare con rinnovato interesse nel Terzo Millennio.openBIO-9

No full textThe book provides an analysis of the representation of women’s bodies and their monstrous metamorphoses in selected short stories by contemporary English writer Michèle Roberts. The author explores the relationship between traditional fairy tales such as the Grimm Brothers’ and Charles Perrault’s, the lives of female saints and Roberts’s counter-narratives, focussing on the analysis of images of sublimed fleshliness and of acts of monstrous violence on the body. The book takes into account relevant Women’s Studies criticism regarding the mother-daughter relationship, as Roberts’s stories question the role of mother figures in traditional fairy tales and hagiography and at the same time rework the concept of motherhood itself
A Snake Under the Sand: Unearthing Buried Voices in Selma Dabbagh’s Radio Play The Brick
No full textThis article examines The Brick, a radio play written by British-Palestinian novelist Selma Dabbagh for BBC Radio 4 in 2014. It focuses on the voice of the main character in the play, a Palestinian Christian woman named Rasha Khoury, as she tries to rebuild her identity and her sense of belonging along with her idea of home and family. The paper takes into account the gender relationship between father and daughter as Rasha’s voice fights to confirm her faith in the heroic image of her father, a long deceased Palestinian lawyer. The article shows how her voice and those of minor characters bring up hints on the interconnection between cultural memory and the traumatic effects of conflict and displacement on Palestinians. After some remarks on women’s radio drama, on the use of the voice and sound, the author focuses on the connections between individual and collective memory, and between gender roles and family myths, observing the way the author uses voice, silence and music

No full textPortuguese writer, editor and activist Ana de Castro Osório played an essential role in the creation of literary collections dedicated to adventure and travel novels, where Italian authors such as Emilio Salgari and his epigone Luigi Motta were at the forefront. She, in collaboration with her son Miguel Osório de Castro, was responsible for translating Luigi Motta's first novel published in Portugal, which came out in two volumes entitled O túnel submarino and Mistérios do oceano (1927), to which several other works by the Italian writer were soon to be added, forming a series within the broader collection of adventure novels published by Romano Torres. The translation of Il tunnel sottomarino, characterized by maintaining the typical elements of adventure novels that the Italian author explores so well, refrains from domesticating the text, which hints at the potential for linguistic innovation fostered by translations of paraliterature in the 1920s and 1930s in Portugal

"Lo specchio della terra": Down Below e le visioni fantasmagoriche di Leonora Carrington
No full textThis article focuses on the phantasmagorical vision that can be observed in Leonora Carrington’s memoir Down Below, a work which mingles autobiography with some elements of fiction to tell about the author’s experience of mental disorder during World War II. The work is disseminated with hermetic messages animated by animal transfigurations of human beings and symbolic descriptions of space which are analysed here with the aim to restore literary value to the conscious phantasmagorical representation of this life experience. The memoir is here considered as an admirable surrealist narration of the young artist’s resistance towards family and social constraints. The rich visual language used by the author displays her attempt to resist homologation to bourgeois standards and to respect her artistic talents. The symbolism of which Carrington makes use can be traced back to the Surrealist circle but it is also regarded as being the result of deep cultural stratifications from the Irish folklore she was fascinated by as a child to ancient alchemy connected to her friendship with Pierre Mabille
