Pemanfaatan Pati Ganyong sebagai Bahan Baku Edible Coating dan Aplikasinya pada Penyimpanan Buah Apel Anna (Malus sylvestris) (Kajian Konsentrasi Pati Ganyong dan Gliserol).
Pengemasan pada bahan makanan merupakan hal yang harus diperhatikan guna melindungi bahan makanan tersebut dari kerusakan. Salah satu jenis kemasan yang bersifat ramah lingkungan adalah edible coating. Edible coating merupakan lapisan tipis yang bertujuan untuk memberikan penahanan yang selektif terhadap perpindahan massa, juga untuk meningkatkan kemudahan penanganan makanan. Bahan yang dapat digunakan pada pembuatan edible coating yaitu polisakarida dan plasticizer. Pada penelitian ini, rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang disusun secara faktorial. Faktor pertama yaitu konsentrasi pati ganyong yang terdiri dari 3 level yaitu (1%, 1,5% dan 2% (b/v)) dan faktor kedua yaitu konsentrasi gliserol yang terdiri dari 3 level yaitu (4%, 5% dan 6% (v/v)) sehingga diperoleh 9 kombinasi perlakuan dan setiap perlakuan dilakukan perulangan sebanyak 3 kali, dengan demikian diperoleh 27 perlakuan. Analisa yang digunakan pada pengujian edible coating yang terbentuk yaitu pH dan viskositas. Apabila hasil dari analisis ragam menunjukkan tidak adanya interaksi antar faktor perlakuan, maka akan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT 5%, sedangkan apabila hasil dari analisis ragam menunjukkan adanya interaksi antar faktor perlakuan, maka akan dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT 5%. ii Pemilihan perlakuan terbaik menggunakan Multiple Attribute. Perlakuan terbaik yang diperoleh kemudian diaplikasikan pada buah apel varietas Anna. Setelah itu, dilakukan analisa beberapa sifat fisik dan kimiawi buah tersebut (susut bobot, total padatan terlarut dan kekerasan buah) serta dilakukan pula uji organoleptik terhadap 10 panelis mengenai tekstur, warna dan aroma buah apel kontrol dan coated (yang dilapisi edible coating) berdasarkan tingkat kesukaan panelis yang dikonversikan dalam angka, dimana 5 = sangat suka, 4 = suka, 3 = netral, 2 = tidak suka dan 1 = sangat tidak suka. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, perlakuan terbaik yang diperoleh yaitu P1G3 (konsentrasi pati ganyong 1% dan gliserol 6%). Hasil analisa fisik dan kimia pada buah apel Anna yang dilapisi edible coating terbaik yang disimpan selama 10 hari menunjukkan nilai susut bobot sebesar 3.99%, nilai TPT sebesar 15.8°Brix dan nilai kekerasan sebesar 3.63 Kg/cm2. Hasil uji organoleptik mengenai tekstur, warna dan aroma pada apel kontrol dan apel coated, panelis memberikan penilaian yang lebih tinggi terhadap apel coated, untuk parameter tekstur sebesar 4.3; warna sebesar 4.3 dan aroma sebesar 3.9. Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan kombinasi terbaik dari konsentrasi pati ganyong dan gliserol pada pembuatan edible coating dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan edible coating terbaik terhadap kualitas buah apel. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 2 faktor. Faktor 1 yaitu konsentrasi pati ganyong 1%, 1,5% dan 2% (b/v) dan faktor 2 yaitu konsentrasi gliserol 4%, 5% dan 6% (v/v). Setiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali. Apabila hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan tidak ada interaksi antar faktor perlakuan, maka dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT 5%, apabila ada interaksi, maka dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT 5%. Pemilihan perlakuan terbaik menggunakan Multiple Attribute. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan formula edible coating terbaik yaitu pada konsentrasi pati ganyong 1% dan gliserol 6% dengan pH sebesar 6.98 dan viskositas sebesar 186.3 cP. Pada apel coated menunjukkan nilai susut bobot sebesar 3,99%, nilai TPT sebesar 15,8°Brix dan nilai kekerasan sebesar 3,63 Kg/cm2. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan panelis memberikan penilaian yang lebih tinggi pada apel coated yaitu nilai tekstur sebesar 4,3; warna sebesar 4,3 dan aroma sebesar 3,9.Kata kunci: apel, edible coating, gliserol, pati ganyongAbstract The purpose of this research was to attain the best combination from canna edulis starch (Pati Ganyong) and glycerol from the process of edible coating, and to identify its effect on the quality of the apples. This research applies randomized block design within 2 factors that were 1%, 1,5% and 2% (w/v) of canna edulis starch concentrate and 4%, 5% and 6% (v/v) of glycerol concentrate. Each process was repeated 3 times. If the result of variance analysis did not show any interaction between each treatment factor, then 5% LSD test will be applied, if the interaction appears, then the research will be continued by applying the 5% DMRT test. Multiple Attribute was used to select the best treatment act. The result of this research showed that the formula of the best edible coating is in the 1% of canna edulis starch concentrate, and 6% of glycerol with 6.98 amount of pH and 186.3 cP amount of viscosity. On the coated apple, 3.99% of weight loss and 15.8°Brix total dissolved solids and 3.63Kg/cm2 of hardness. The result of organoleptic test showed that the panelists given the higher score on the coated apple that were, score of texture at 4,3, color at 4,3 and aroma at 3,9.Keywords: apple, canna edulis starch, edible coating , glycero

Rates of Depression, Anxiety, and Stress in Collegiate Aviators
abstract: The purpose of this research was to determine if students who are enrolled in a professional flight program exhibit significantly higher rates of depression, stress, and anxiety. This study compared professional flight students to non-professional flight students to determine whether professional flight students have higher rates of depression and anxiety. In addition, this study sought to determine if there were higher depression, anxiety, and stress levels in upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) than in lowerclassmen (freshman and sophomore). Finally, upperclassmen and underclassmen within professional flight programs were compared to test if upperclassmen professional flight students exhibit higher rates for depression, anxiety and stress. These groups were compared to each other by using a survey that measures depression, anxiety, and stress. There were no statistically significant results. “Letter to the King” By Jules Destry: from Separatism to Unitarism in Belgium
Contradictions between the regions of Belgium - Wallonia and Flanders - have a long history associated with uneven political, economic and cultural development of the territories, which in 1830 became parts of an independent state, the Kingdom of Belgium. The "Letter to the King", written by eminent Belgian politician and writer, socialist Jules Destree (1863 - 1936 gg.), is one of the most interesting sources on the history of Belgium of this period, It became a kind of manifesto of balance between the ideas of separatism and unitarianism. This article includes excerpts from the "Letter to the King", which were given for the first time in the author's Russian translation and conducted historical criticism of the source. The study is based on a set of scientific methods and approaches, including the principle of scientific objectivity and systematic approach, used in historical research. The main methods are problematic and historical-comparative analysis, classification and comparison of political and historical concepts. An external source of criticism included information about the place and the time of the creation of document, the biography of the author studies; internal critic source recreates the idea of the letter and the background of historical events. Prominent Belgian politician and writer, socialist Jules Destree (1863 - 1936), highly appreciated the personal qualities of King Albert I, appealed to his experience and political vision, describing all the problems Walloons faced in their opposition to the Flemish. Destree in his letter opposed the unequal development of the regions of Belgium and the protectionist policies of the central government in respect to the detriment of Flanders Wallonia. He summarized and formulated the factors that, in his opinion, interfere with the full development of his country. Destree pays great attention to linguistic differences, which were at the heart of conflicts between Walloons and Flemings, and are still shaken by Belgium. He reflects on the fact that the central government should be doing to reduce the national tensions that unites two people, and that the shares, which should be a system of education that future generations were able to overcome the historical alienation of such geographically close and ideologically distant peoples. Although Jules Destree firmly defends separatism idea for Wallonia as the only solution to the problem, however, by the end of his letter, reasoning it takes a more balanced position. The idea of a unitary state was not denied completely, but Destree emphasizes the importance of a balanced central government policy in relation to the regions in order to reduce internal tensions between the two nations. The ideas embodied in his "Letter to the King", formed the basis of the principles of peaceful co-existence of further autonomous regions as part of the union, which was manifested in the future during the First World War, when the Walloons and Flemings alongside confronted a common enemy
