ABSTRACT Anis Latifa Nur.2021. skripsi. “Analisis Semiotika dalam Novel Bidadari Berbisik karya Asma Nadia. Literary works are a place for authors to voice their thoughts, beliefs and physical experiences, as well as the author's imagination. The language used by the author has a certain meaning. Language in the form of signs is interesting to study semantically. Semiotics is the study of signs which has three aspects, namely, icons, indexes and symbols. The Bidadari Whispering novel by Asma Nadia tells the story of Ning's journey in search of his mysteriously missing sister, armed with minimal information. The problems of this research are (1) How is the semiotics of the iconic aspects contained in Asma Nadia's Bidadari Berbisa novel?, (2) How are the index aspects of the semiotics contained in Asma Nadia's Bidadari Berbisa novel?, (3) How are the symbol aspects of the semiotics contained in the novel. The novel Bidadari Berklik by Asma Nadia? This study uses a qualitative approach. The research method uses descriptive methods. The data collection technique used is hermeneutic technique. Content analysis data analysis techniques. The data validity technique used triangulation technique. The theory used is the theory of Pradopo (2010), Nurgiyantoro (2013), Sobur (2003), Rusmana (2014). The results of this study are the icons of the entire novel Bidadari Whispering by Asma Nadia are 9 data. The index of the entire novel Bidadari Whispering by Asma Nadia is 21 data. The symbol of the entire novel Bidadari Bercepat by Asma Nadia is as much as 40 data. The results of this study are the authors found the existence of icons, indexes and symbols. The most dominant aspect in this novel is the symbol. The reason this aspect is more dominant is because symbols are related to culture. Novels are usually based on the author's experience in interacting with the public

The influence of laparoscopic handle design parameters and grasping strategy on the haptic perception of variable tissue stiffness

Stiffness perception in laparoscopic surgery has an important role in achieving appropriate tissue manipulation. The need for haptic feedback to perceive tissue stiffness and the reduce in haptic feedback when using laparoscopic instruments suggest an inability to sufficiently experience stiffness perception during laparoscopic surgeries. Better understanding of the perception of tissue stiffness could contribute to the development of better laparoscopic instruments. A stiffness ranking task has been performed with 16 participants, to study the influence of force transmission ratio, contact area and grasping strategy on the haptic perception of variable tissue stiffness. Using a newly developed set of laparoscopic grasper handles varying in the chosen independent variables, being the force transmission ratio and contact area, the participants performed multiple grasps with each grasper handle on a randomized order of tissue samples with three different stiffness levels and ranked them according to the perceived level of stiffness. Force measurements were done during the task and a survey was conducted afterwards. The results indicate that force transmission ratio and contact area do not influence the haptic perception of variable tissue stiffness. In terms of grasping strategy, a lower force exertion is shown to be desirable for perceiving the variable tissue stiffness, while the amount of grasps per tissue sample have not shown to influence the perception. Future studies with larger sample sizes might indicate a difference between high and low force transmission ratios. It is concluded that future designs of laparoscopic grasper handles might not be restricted in terms of force transmission ratio and contact area requirements when a greater haptic perception is aimed at. More haptic perception of variable tissue stiffness is gained in the surgical domain of applying the appropriate grasping strategies

Through the socio-historical, anthropological, and cultural framework of Rwanda, this work addresses the theme of African history from the perspective of the West, focusing specifically on the history of Rwanda as depicted in the works of Scholastique Mukasonga. The writer's projectaims to demonstrate the depth of social and cultural unease produced by the Western discourse on Rwandan history and the genocide of the Tutsis. The identity deconstruction propagated by the establishment of classifications through colonial discourse following the theory of Hamiticideology had, as its initial consequence, the identity expropriation of the Tutsis. Indeed, Hamiticideology evolved into a racial ideology implementing ethnic division that seeks to define a society based on genetics. Consequently, this biological construction of categories allowed for the political manipulation and division of the Rwandan population. Scholastique Mukasonga, a genocide survivor, denounces this identity and racial segregation while providing her testimony. Writing becomes for the author a means to transpose history through literary text while engaging in a process of resilience. Writing the unspeakable, putting words to traumatic experiences, and attempting to express the unspeakable is, for the author, a duty of remembrance for her community. Thus, this work aims to be a reflection on the impact of the Western gaze in shaping a distorted imaginary of Rwandan history, involving the dehumanization of the Tutsis. It highlights the role of the writer in the quest for and reconstruction of identity while questioning the place (orfuture) of "literary testimony" in the production of knowledge in Africa and the understanding of African societie
