    Placement of shallow foundation is not always placed on ground which has a flat contour, but in certain condition, the shallow foundation is placed next to the slope. Therefore, an analysis of soil carrying capacity on the foundation needs to be done to find out how strong the sloped land can sustain shallow foundation above it. Slope inclination and distance of the shallow foundation to the slopes also affect the amount of soil carrying capacity. Article clarifies the placement of a continuous shallow foundation and placed next to the slope. Whereas the distance to slope and the slope inclination were varied to determine how big the influence on land carrying capacity. The calculation method was done by a Plaxis program version 8.6, based on element, compared with the carrying capacity calculations manually. Output from Plaxis will be used as a study in this research. The results of manual calculation and calculation of Plaxis program and value of the land carrying capacity on the off-sand soil which was different about 1 to 15 percent. Whereas for the clay soil in drained condition, the difference was about 1 to 19 percent

    Geofoam merupakan salah satu material geosintetik yang terbuat dari Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) dan Xtruded Polystyrene (XPS) yang mempunyai properti berat yang rendah. Keunggulan ini menjadikan geofoam banyak digunakan sebagai material timbunan yang ringan dan sudah diaplikasikan di Eropa terutama Eropa Timur. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian awal yang menitikberatkan penggunaan geofoam sebagai material timbunan di atas tanah lunak melalui analisis teoritis menggunakan program Plaxis. Data-data pendukung yang digunakan mencakup data tanah dasar dan timbunan yang diambil dari lokasi tertentu yang akan digunakan untuk penelitian selanjutnya berupa uji lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil dari program Plaxis, penggunaan geofoam sebagai material timbunan memberikan nilai faktor keamanan yang lebih tinggi dengan nilai deformasi yang lebih kecil jika dibandingkan dengan tanah laterit. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan geofoam sebagai material timbunan dapat dipertimbangkan untuk diaplikasikan di dalam negeri

    Vacuum preloading is an alternative method to improve water-saturated soft clay by accelerating the consolidation process. A trial using GVS system was done at Pantai Indah Kapuk residence, Jakarta to investigate the system reliability. Monitoring equipments used include settlement plate to measure the consolidation decrease, piezometer to measure pore water tension, inklinometer to identify the soil direction and lateral movement during the vacuum preloading process, and manometer to measure the vacuum pump pressure. Analytical calculations to estimate the consolidation decrease is done using one-dimensional consolidation theory of Terzaghi. Besides, a numerical analysis is performed by element method up to Plaxis software application. Meanwhile, the monitoring results are achieved using Asaoka theory that estimates the achieved degree of reduction and consolidation. The monitoring results and theoretical analysis indicate that the GVS system included in the vacuum preloading method is quite reliable as an alternative method of consolidation acceleration of water-saturated soft clay. </jats:p

    Analysis on soil carrying capacity on uniform soil condition by a conventional calculation is often done. But, the analysis on soil carrying capacity on the laminar soil by using 2 methods all at once is rarely done. Therefore, this article aims to calculate the soil carrying capacity on shallow foundation above two laminar soils by using conventional method and Plaxis program version 8.6, with a thickness of different layers, in order to know how much the influence of soil layer thickness and basic soil type toward the soil carrying capacity. This research was conducted on continuous shallow foundation. The layer thickness was also different and used basic soil clay and sand with different characteristics. Calculation method in this study was conducted conventionally and the Plaxis program version 8.6 based on limited element. Plaxis output will be used as a study in this research is the soil carrying capacity which occurs on sand and clay. Based on the research, on the condition of upper layer of solid sand and bottom layer of soft clay, the value of soil carrying capacity is not much different from the three methods used

    Besides opening new land to the hilly terrain, reclamation of beach and other watery land is one of the alternatives of residential land compliance which is pretty much applied. However, the reclamation work often encounteres some obstacles, such as the soft subgrade with a low carrying capacity and the possibility for consolidation reduction which is large and long and high sea waves that could potentially cause abrasion during both construction and after construction. The use of geosynthetic materials as an alternative material supporting the reclamation work in Indonesia is still limited. The project owner and executives tend to use conventional methods though the use of geosynthetic can provide benefits and ease of implementation. Some of the advantages of using geosynthetic materials in reclamation work with soft soil foundation is a faster execution of the work, loss reduction of embankment material into the soft subgrade, and lower maintenance costs. This paper discusses geosynthetic products as well as its application to the reclamation work that comes with examples of projects that have been or are being carried out and in Indonesia

    Geofoam is a geosintetik material made of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Xtruded Polystyrene (XPS), which has a low weight property which makes geofoam widely used as a lightweight fill material and has been applied in Europe, especially in Eastern Europe. This is a preliminary research that emphasizes on the use of geofoam as a fill material on soft ground through theoretical analysis using Plaxis program. Supporting data used covers data of basic and fill ground taken from specific locations which are planned for subsequent research as a field test. Based on the Plaxis program results, the use of geofoam as a fill material give a higher safety factor value with a smaller deformation compared to laterite soil. This result indicates that the use of geofoam as a fill material can be considered to be applied in the country. </jats:p

    Article, theoreticaly analyzes on the influence of geo-textile material utility toward the supporting capacity of shallow foundation on the clay is done, especially to learn the geo-textile influence and contribution toward the supporting energy of shallow foundation on the clay surface by using a theoretical approach. Based on the research, the pulling power of geo-textile does not give a meaningful contribution toward the supporting energy of shallow foundation; also shows that the soil replacement and installation of 4 ms geo-textile on the same powerful param of sliding soil will give the highest safety factor value. The conclusion indicates that by using the geo-textile will give a higher supporting energy compared with a condition without the geo-textile

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
