Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dokumentasjonsplikt i skolemiljøsaker : i spenningsfeltet mellom tillit og kontroll
Get PDFOpplæringslovens kapittel 9A, ofte omtalt som elevenes arbeidsmiljølov, ble revidert med virkning fra 1. august 2017. Før den endelige lovendringen ble vedtatt, ble det gjennomført en omfattende høringsprosess. Denne masteroppgaven er en dokumentanalyse av de 109 høringsinnspillene som ble levert til Kunnskapsdepartementet.
Oppgaven er avgrenset til den delen av lovendringen som omhandler dokumentasjonsplikten skolene har i skolemiljøsaker. Kunnskapsdepartementet foreslo i sitt opprinnelige lovforslag å fjerne den tidligere plikten til å fatte enkeltvedtak etter forvaltningsloven når elever eller foresatte ba om tiltak knyttet til skolemiljøet, uten å erstatte denne med andre lovfestede dokumentasjonskrav. Det ble blant annet lagt til grunn at skolene fortsatt ville dokumentere sin aktivitet i skolemiljøsaker, da man hadde egeninteresse av å gjøre det. Denne tilliten ble ifølge departementet ikke delt av høringsinstansene, og på bakgrunn av høringsinnspillene ble forslaget derfor endret. Den nye aktivitetsplikten som fremkommer av §9A-4 i opplæringsloven følges nå av en todelt dokumentasjonsplikt.
Formålet med denne oppgaven er å belyse sammenhengen mellom dokumentasjonskrav og tillit til skolen som institusjon. Gjennom en analyse av alle høringsinnspillene søker oppgaven å gi en dypere forståelse for hvordan høringssvarene kan ses i lys av begrepene tillit og kontroll. Det teoretiske rammeverket for oppgaven finner vi hovedsakelig i Grimen (2009) sine betraktninger rundt disse begrepene, samt i Axelsson og Høyer (2016) sine modeller som illustrerer de to perspektivene tynn og tykk institusjonalisme.
Sentrale spørsmål i analysen er hvordan tillit til skolen tematiseres i høringssvarene, og hvordan behovet for dokumentasjonskrav begrunnes. Funnene er sortert etter hvordan de ulike høringsinstansene stilte seg til det opprinnelige lovforslaget om bortfall av vedtaksplikten. Det er i forbindelse med dette spørsmålet ulike synspunkter på dokumentasjonskrav fremkommer. Oppgaven bygger på en kvalitativ tilnærming, men har også elementer av kvantitative fremstillinger av funnene.
Høringsinstansene er delt inn i tre hovedkategorier: tillitsgivere, tillitsmottakere og andre, der de to førstnevnte er mest sentrale i analysen. Tillitsgiverne består hovedsakelig av representanter for elever og foresatte, mens tillitsmottakerne er skoler, skoleeiere og fylkesmenn. Et sentralt funn er at både blant tillitsgivere og tillitsmottakere var det relativt flertall til støtte for departementets opprinnelige forslag. Argumentasjonen som fremkommer i høringsinnspillene er også i stor grad samstemt. Både hos tillitsgiverne og tillitsmottakerne er det mange som påpeker behovet for tydelige dokumentasjonskrav, hovedsakelig av hensyn til elevenes rettssikkerhet. Blant mange av tillitsmottakerne uttrykkes det også et ønske om klart formulerte dokumentasjonskrav for å sikre lik forståelse og praksis på skolene.
Oppgaven konkluderer med at ønsket om dokumentasjonskrav som fremmes i mange høringsinnspill kan ses som et tegn på manglende tillit, da tillit er forklart som å handle uten forholdsregler (Grimen, 2009). Samtidig kan Kunnskapsdepartementets beskrivelse av manglende tillit gi et noe unyansert bilde av synspunktene som kom frem i høringen. Ønsket om dokumentasjonskrav kan også ses som et behov for fortsatt sterk egenkontroll, formidlet av tillitsmottakerne selv. En slik egenkontroll kan være et viktig premiss for tillit, men trenger ikke å være et tegn på opplevd mistillit. Mine analyser viser få eksempler på uttrykt mistillit, men desto flere argumenter for å sikre en felles praksis til gode for alle parter.
Noen mulige konsekvenser av de nye dokumentasjonskravene drøftes også til slutt i oppgaven. Fungerende kontrollmekanismer kan bidra til å øke tilliten til skolen som institusjon, under forutsetning av at kravene følges opp. Samtidig kan kontrolltiltak som virker unødig strenge for dem som styres av dem, svekke viljen til å følge dem opp. Oppgaven konkluderer med at det for de fleste elever og foresatte er opplevelsen av å bli tatt på alvor som gir dem tillit til skolen, og at faktisk oppfyllelse av aktivitetsplikten er mer vesentlig enn hvordan den dokumenteres

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
