No full textIn this article, the institutional origin of the Goryeo dynasty Anchal-sa(按察使) magistrates which operated in the Do(道) units, and how the 5-Do Anchal-sa(五道按察使) system was established, are examined.
The history of the Anchal-sa institution is documented in the Anryeom-sa(按廉使) section of the Governmental Officials and Offices(百官志) chapter of 『Goryeo-sa(高麗史)』. But this record is a combination of information gathered from several sources, and is not a correct representation of the actual Anchal-sa history. The Original name of Anchal-sa was Sunchal-sa(巡察使) but it was changed to Anchal-sa in the 19th year of King Hyeonjongs reign to avoid using the letter which was also the name of the king.
The title Seohae Sunchal-sa(西海巡察使) which appears in the Gongcheob Sangtong-Shik(公牒相通式) section of the Penal Law(刑法志) chapter refers to the Anchal-sa figure of the Seohae-do province(西海道按察使). The Donghea Sunchal-sa(東海巡察使) that appears together is the same thing with the Sungeom-sa figure of the Gyeongsan-do province(慶尙道巡檢使) and is also the same with the Dongnam hae-Dobuseo-sa(東南海 都部署使). The function of this post was absorbed by the Gyeongsang-do provinces Anchal-sa magistrate and was abolished at the end of King Munjongs reign. This led people to believe that the two posts were institutionally linked, but in fact they were totally unrelated.
After the provincial monitoring system expanded throughout the country and the 5 Do provinces were established, the Anchal-sa system became a dynastic one. The dispatching of Anmu-sa(按撫使) officials in the 2nd year of King Yejongs reign provided a definitive platform for the establishment of Anchal-sa figures, but Chunju-do(春州道) was founded later and the 5-Do Anchal-sa system was finally launched during the reign of King Euijong

No full text안찰사는 고려 지방제도의 운영에 관련된 제 부문 중에서 비교적 일찍부터 연구자들이 관심을 가진 주제이다. 五道兩界로 제시되는 고려의 지방제도에서 5도의 주류적인 운영 담당자가 바로 按察使였기 때문이다. 안찰사의 기능과 성격을 해명하는 작업은 고려 지방제도의 기본 속성을 이해하는 관건으로 인식되었다. 따라서 안찰사에 대한 이해는 파견 대상인 道E에 대한 이해와도 맞물려 있었다. 道 및 按察使에 대한 초기 연구는 두 가지로 나뉜다. 하나는 고려의 도는 순찰 구역에 불과한 것으로서 고려 말ᄁᆞ지 중간 행정 단위로 성립하지 못했다고 봄으로써 안찰사에 대해서도 순찰관 이상의 의미를 부여하지 않는 견해이다. 다른 하나는 도의 장관으로서 안찰사의 기능과 중간 행정기구로서 도의 위상을 일정하게 인정하는 견해이다.Examined in this study are the functions of the Anchal-sa magistrates of the Goryeo dynasty period, in terms of military and legal functions. So far, the Anchal-sa magistrates were believed as entities whose functions exceeded that of ordinary monitoring and instead covered all kinds of military issues, legal procedures and the taxation process as well, involving diverse aspects of the government's local administration. Yet such notion should be reexamined and verified. In military terms the Anchal-sa magistrates, rather than leading the soldiers themselves, only surveyed the situation in war zones, reported to higher authorities, appeased the general population, and mobilized soldiers to be transferred to their commanding officers. In the meantime, processing legal suits was one of the most primary functions of local officials, but in case there were frustrations over rulings or attention coming overdue, higher authorities had to intervene. At first the local Gye'su-gwan authorities were put in charge of all that, but when Anchal-sa units spreaded throughout the country, they took over some of those functions as well. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
