An access-point survey approach to estimate recreational boat-fishing effort for stays of variable length
No full textManagement of recreational fisheries may greatly benefit from accurate and precise estimates of catch and effort. The reliable estimation of recreational boat-fishing effort is particularly challenging due to the methodologies, logistics and high costs involved. Here, we propose a two-stage approach to estimate the number of boat-fishing trips based on an access-point survey developed for situations in which boaters often stay in the area for more than one day, making several fishing trips during their stay. The two-stage approach consists of, first, estimating the total number of boat-days for the fishing season, where boats present in the coast may potentially go fishing, and, second, estimating the probability that a boat present in the coast does go fishing on a given day. We illustrate the method by applying it to a recreational fishery targeting rocky-reef fishes in the San José Gulf, Península Valdés, Argentina. When used on simulated data the new method produced unbiased and more precise estimates of the number of boat-days compared to the traditional access-point survey method. Gains in precision varied depending on the number of survey visits, the survey schedule (random or regular visits) and the actual (simulated) number of boat-days.Fil: Venerus, Leonardo Ariel. No full textLa provincia de Chubut, con sus más de 1200 km de costa, cuenta con sus tres ciudades de más de 100.000 habitantes ubicadas sobre o cerca de la costa (Puerto Madryn, Trelew y Comodoro Rivadavia) y cuatro poblaciones costeras de menor tamaño: Puerto Pirámides, Rawson, Camarones y Rada Tilly. Todas estas poblaciones viven, en mayor o menor medida, vinculadas al mar, ya sea a través del turismo o en relación a la actividad pesquera (tanto industrial como artesanal). El litoral chubutense cuenta con un recurso como el langostino, de muy alto valor agregado, sobre el que se basa la actividad de una importante flota industrial pero también una flota considerada artesanal que opera desde Puerto Rawson. Además de este recurso, en estas costas existen recursos de mariscos muy apreciados y de alta demanda, como son la vieira, los pulpos, la almeja, el mejillóny la cholga. Junto con estas especies se encuentran también varias especies de caracoles, cuyo consumo y demanda está en aumento, y de crustáceos tan conocidos como la centolla u otros recientemente explotados como el cangrejo nadador. Esta riqueza ha hecho de Chubut una provincia pesquera, tanto industrial como artesanal. En el año 2022 fueron relevadas 18 UdP. Con excepción de la pesquería de arrastre artesanal de langostino de Rawson, que se trata de una pesquería de pequeña escala semi industrial (aunque categorizada como artesanal según los lineamientos de la Ley provincial), la mayoría son pesquerías de recolección, que aprovechan la riqueza de las restingas intermareales, o de buceo, siendo escasas las pesquerías de redes o trampas. Estas pesquerías artesanales de menor escala se concentran en la zona de Península Valdés y Puerto Madryn (ver documento web http://valdesfishing.abdn.ac.uk/es/) y en las localidades de Camarones y Comodoro Rivadavia. En estas pesquerías las especies más relevantes, por nivel de captura o por número de UdP son el pulpo colorado, presente en cuatro UdP, la vieira tehuelche (superando las 500 t anuales) o el pejerrey, presente en casi todas las localidades.Fil: Sanchez Carnero, Noela Belen. L'Aesopus Moralisatus Stampato in Parma da Andrea Portilia nel 1481
No full textThis booklet was printed to commemorate a ceremony celebrating, as far as I can tell, the presence in Parma's Biblioteca Palatina of the unique exemplar of a book of Aesopus Moralisatus printed by Andrea Portilia in Parma in 1481. The sections of this pamphlet are: Cronaca della Cerimonia, Testo della Comunicazione del Dott. Ciavarella, and Appendice Bibliografica. This last bibliographical section includes a rich gathering of fable manuscripts and editions in two different collections, that of the Biblioteca Palatina itself and also that of Prof. Ettore Ponzi. There are two photoreproductions within the booklet: a copy of the incipit page of the book in question (16) and a copy of Barlow's frontispiece for an Amsterdam edition of 1714 (32). The dotted line for indicating which of the 300 this copy is remains blank. The traditional candidate (e.g., for Hervieux) for the author of this collection is Walter of England. A new collection of the evidence was needed : the previous work of Sherk (1970) is incomplete and out of date. The new corpus includes about a hundred of inscriptions (35 p. c. more than Sherk) : for every text an historical and juridical commentary is given, photographs and an index of Latin and Greek lemmas in context.These inscriptions are reliable pieces of first-hand evidence upon the administration of Roman cities. Dolor crónico, depresión y afrontamiento : estudio en una Unidad Interdisciplinaria de Montevideo
No full textTesis Maestría en Psicología ClínicaLa presente tesis se propone contribuir al conocimiento del dolor crónico no oncológico y su relación con la depresión, así como con las estrategias de afrontamiento, a través de una investigación con enfoque mixto, cuantitativo y cualitativo, con usuarios de la Unidad de Dolor Crónico de la Asociación Española, prestador de salud de Uruguay. La metodología fue no experimental, transversal, de tipo descriptivo y correlacional. En el aspecto cualitativo, se siguieron lineamientos del Análisis Fenomenológico Interpretativo (AFI). Se empleó la triangulación entre los diferentes métodos. Participaron 100 pacientes en la etapa cuantitativa y una submuestra de 10 en la fase cualitativa. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: un cuestionario con datos sociodemográficos y clínicos, la Escala Visual Analógica (EVA), el Inventario de Depresión de Beck II (BDI II) y el Cuestionario de Afrontamiento al Dolor reducido (CAD-R). Se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad para conocer las vivencias subjetivas de los participantes. Un elevado porcentaje de la muestra presentó algún grado de sintomatología depresiva. En los participantes con antecedentes de depresión, el dolor fue mayormente reportado como previo al inicio de la depresión. También se identificó la relación temporal inversa y la aparición simultánea de ambas entidades. La intensidad del dolor y la depresión correlacionaron positiva y significativamente, al igual que la depresión y las estrategias pasivas de afrontamiento. Los temas principales emergentes del análisis cualitativo fueron: Relacionamiento con el otro, Trayectorias del dolor, Búsqueda de alivio y Vivir con el dolor. Se analizó además el impacto de la pandemia por COVID-19, ya que la recolección de datos se vio atravesada por este contexto.Se reafirma la importancia de la evaluación temprana del estado de ánimo y del abordaje interdisciplinario en los pacientes con dolor crónico, orientado al trabajo con las estrategias de afrontamiento y a la aceptación activa de la enfermedad.This thesis aims to contribute to the knowledge of non-oncological chronic pain and its relationship with depression, as well as coping strategies, through a mixed quantitative and qualitative research approach with users of the Chronic Pain Unit of the “Asociación Española”, a health care provider in Uruguay. The methodology was non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational. In the qualitative aspect, the guidelines of the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) were followed. Triangulation between the different methods was used. A total of 100 patients participated in the quantitative phase and a subsample of 10 in the qualitative phase. The instruments used were: a questionnaire with socio-demographic and clinical data, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI II) and the reduced Pain Coping Questionnaire (CAD-R). In-depth interviews were conducted to know about the subjective experiences of the participants. A high percentage of the sample presented some degree of depressive symptomatology. In participants with a history of depression, pain was mostly reported as prior to the onset of depression. An inverse temporal relationship and the simultaneous occurrence of both entities was also identified. Pain intensity and depression correlated positively and significantly, as did depression and passive coping strategies.
The main themes emerging from the qualitative analysis were: Relationship with others, Pain trajectories, Seeking relief and Living with pain. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was also analysed, as the data collection was affected by this context. The importance of early assessment of mood and an interdisciplinary approach in patients with chronic pain, aimed at working with coping strategies and active acceptance of the disease, is reaffirmed.Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII

No full textPro-Ana blogs are virtual spaces where teenagers suffering from anorexia nervosa (AN) express thoughts and emotions that they cannot communicate offline. Blogs consists in diaries, personal pages about anorexia nervosa (AN) as a lifestyle and a model of self-control, even providing practical advices. This observational research aims to describe the online vocabulary and contents of 10 web sites openly in favor of AN, through a textual analysis by using T-LAB software, measuring and mapping the occurrence among words. Within the corpus, the most frequent words (> 750) have been identified: to eat (1.484), to feel (1.472), to see (945) and to succeed (758). For each word, the relative semantic area was reconstructed and an analysis of associations (previous and subsequent words) was provided. From our findings emerge some central issues of anorexia, such as a profound discomfort of a interpersonal relation with Others, an emotional isolation and a difficulty in managing emotions associated with fear and control loss. Pro-Ana blogs may represent an adolescent challenge, a manifestation of unfulfilled needs regarding relationships, confrontation and communication, especially for those young people who cannot ask for an help in mental health services
