An Alternative for Simultaneous Representation: HJ-BIPLOT
The present work reviews the biplot method proposed by GABRIEL and offers a new form of simultaneous representation for data matrices which the authors call the HJ-BIPLOT, in which the coordinates for columns coincide with the markers for the columns in the GHT_BIPLOT and the coordinates for the rows coincide with the markers for the rows in: the JKT_BIPLOT of GABRIEL. These coordinates may be represented in the same reference system; the factorial axis system.
It is shown that the HJ-BIPLOT achieves the same goodness of fit for rows and columns and that, this is much better than usual.
The results also show that for matrices of positive data the HJ-BIPLOT gives rise to the best B-baricentric plots

EVALUATION ON CONSISTENCY BETWEEN HJ-1 CCD AND TM IMAGES IN MONITORING FRACTIONAL GREEN VEGETATION COVER
The fractional green vegetation cover (Fc) is an important climate model parameter. Remote sensing technique has become one of the most effective means to acquire vegetation dynamics information. The CCD cameras onboard HJ-1 satellites (Environment and Disaster monitoring and forecasting Satellite constellation) are advanced in revisit frequency and image coverage compared with Landsat TM. This study aims to assess the capability of HJ-1 CCD images in monitoring of Fc in terms of comparing with the widely used TM images. The quality of HJ-1 CCD is compared with the same temporal TM image in two aspects: the image statistical analysis and the image application analysis. After the comparison between the HJ-1 CCD image and TM image of the same area. The results show a high level of uniform between HJ-1 and TM images. Therefore, the conclusion may be drawn that the HJ-1 CCD image is feasible and suitable for Fc monitoring.Engineering, Electrical & ElectronicGeosciences, MultidisciplinaryRemote SensingEICPCI-S(ISTP)
Fusion of Multitemporal Multi-Angle ENVISAT ASAR and HJ-1 Data for Object-based Urban Land Cover Classification
The key goal of this work is to analyze the synergistic effects of multitemporal data fusion for urban land cover mapping. In particular this analysis is carried out using multitemporal ENVISAT ASAR images and one Chinese HJ-1 optical image acquired over Beijing in 2009. The major land cover classes are high-density built-up areas, low-density built-up areas, roads, airports, forests, parks, golf courses, grass/pasture, crops, bare fields and water. The methodology used in this research including orthorectification, SAR speckle filtering, and object-based classification. The segmentation is based on the newly developed algorithm KTH-SEG that utilizes an edge-aware region growing and merging approach. Fusion of the various combinations of multitemporal multi-angle SAR data and HJ-1 data were compared with SAR and optical data alone. The preliminary results show that the fusion of ENVISAT ASAR and HJ-1 data performed much better than optical data alone or SAR data alone. The fusion of 4-date SAR data and optical data can achieve similar classification accuracy as the fusion of 8-date SAR data and optical data if multi-angle, dual look direction SAR data with suitable temporal compositions are selected. Compared to eCognition, the KTH-SEG performed better in extracting linear features such as roads and rivers.</p
An Improved Algorithm for Forest Fire Detection Using HJ Data
AbstractUsing the characteristics of the environment and disaster monitoring and forecasting small satellite constellation (HJ), the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) forest fire detection contextual algorithm was improved to adapt the HJ-infrared sensor (HJ-IRS). The enhanced method consisted of potential fire pixel identification, absolute and relative fire pixel judgment, background characteristics analysis, and fire pixel confidence. The improved algorithm was programmed in IDL7.1 and tested using HJ forest fire data from Heilongjiang Province in 2009. Results show that improving the forest fire detection contextual algorithm to adapt HJ-IRS is feasible and highly accurate. HJ data are much more sensitive to smaller and cooler fires than MODIS or the advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) data, and the improved capabilities offers a good potential for application in forest fire detection
BER and SFDR Characteristics of an FWM-based All-Optical Frequency Upconverter
We have experimentally investigated the bit-error-rate (BER) and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) characteristics of an all-optical frequency upconverter based on the four-wave-mixing effect in a semiconductor optical amplifier for radio-over-fiber networks. The generation and error-free transmission of an optical radio-frequency signal having 155.52-Mb/s differential phase-shift keying data at a carrier frequency of 26.5 GHz are achieved. The dynamic ranges of an optical intermediate frequency (IF) input signal estimated from the BER and SFDR measurements are approximately 12 and 16 dB, respectively. The SFDR of the upconverter is larger than 77 dB Hz(2/3) for the IF frequencies ranging from 1 to 12 GHz.111sciescopu
DYNAMICAL PROPERTIES OF AN UNDERDAMPED SINGLE-PLAQUETTE JOSEPHSON-JUNCTION ARRAY
We have studied, both analytically and numerically, the dynamical properties of a single-plaquette square array consisting of 2x2 superconducting islands coupled by resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson junctions (RCSJ). In zero magnetic field the dynamics of the system becomes identical to that of a single Josephson junction. But in an external magnetic field it shows a transition to chaos even in a dc bias current only.X11sciescopu
An all-optical frequency up-converter utilizing four-wave mixing in a semiconductor optical amplifier for sub-carrier multiplexed radio-over-fiber applications
A novel all-optical frequency up-converter utilizing four-wave mixing ( FWM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier ( SOA) was proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The frequency up-converter converted an optical intermediate frequency ( IF) signal ( f(IF) = 2.5 GHz) to an optical radio frequency ( RF) signal ( f(RF) = 35 and 40 GHz) through mixing with an optical local oscillator ( LO) signal ( f(LO) = 37.5 GHz). The up-converter showed positive conversion efficiency of 5.77 dB for the optical IF power of -22 dBm and the optical LO power of -13 dBm. This scheme showed broad bandwidths with respect to both LO and IF frequencies. The up-converter showed a phase noise of -84.5 dBc/Hz for the LO frequency of 37.5 GHz ( f(LO)) and the offset frequency of 10 kHz after the frequency up-conversion.
