    How Good Are Popular Matchings?

    In this paper, we consider the Hospital Residents problem (HR) and the Hospital Residents problem with Lower Quotas (HRLQ). In this model with two sided preferences, stability is a well accepted notion of optimality. However, in the presence of lower quotas, a stable and feasible matching need not exist. For the HRLQ problem, our goal therefore is to output a good feasible matching assuming that a feasible matching exists. Computing matchings with minimum number of blocking pairs (Min-BP) and minimum number of blocking residents (Min-BR) are known to be NP-Complete. The only approximation algorithms for these problems work under severe restrictions on the preference lists. We present an algorithm which circumvents this restriction and computes a popular matching in the HRLQ instance. We show that on data-sets generated using various generators, our algorithm performs very well in terms of blocking pairs and blocking residents. Yokoi [Yokoi, 2017] recently studied envy-free matchings for the HRLQ problem. We propose a simple modification to Yokoi's algorithm to output a maximal envy-free matching. We observe that popular matchings outperform envy-free matchings on several parameters of practical importance, like size, number of blocking pairs, number of blocking residents. In the absence of lower quotas, that is, in the Hospital Residents (HR) problem, stable matchings are guaranteed to exist. Even in this case, we show that popularity is a practical alternative to stability. For instance, on synthetic data-sets generated using a particular model, as well as on real world data-sets, a popular matching is on an average 8-10% larger in size, matches more number of residents to their top-choice, and more residents prefer the popular matching as compared to a stable matching. Our comprehensive study reveals the practical appeal of popular matchings for the HR and HRLQ problems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on the empirical evaluation of popular matchings in this setting

    Union Membership Effect on Wage Premiums: Evidence from Organized Manufacturing Industries in India

    Trade unionism is a legislative system of organizing workers and raising voices for economic and social goods. As the process of global integration deepens the labour market become more flexible and fragmented, rendering collective organization more and more difficult. In this backdrop, the paper attempted to analyse the impact of union membership on wages in the organised manufacturing industries in India. The study uses a recent survey data on labour market in the organised manufacturing industries. The estimated wage premiums for union membership for permanent and contract workers are 56.7 per cent and 10.3 per cent respectively. Decomposing this wage gap indicates that union membership contributes majority of the wage differentials, indicating that unions able to reserve higher premium for their members.     IoT has gained immense popularity recently with advancements in technologies and big data. IoT network is dynamically increasing with the addition of devices, and the big data is generated within the network, making the network vulnerable to attacks. Thus, network security is essential, and an intrusion detection system is needed. In this paper, we proposed a deep learning-based model for detecting intrusions or attacks in IoT networks. We constructed a DNN model, applied a filter method for feature reduction, and tuned the model with different parameters. We also compared the performance of DNN with other machine learning techniques in terms of accuracy, and the proposed DNN model with weight decay of 0.0001 and dropout rate of 0.01 achieved an accuracy of 0.993, and the reduced loss on the NSL-KDD dataset having five classes. Sistem interface yang digunakan adalah sistem GUI (graphical user interface) yang memudahkan user dalam berinteraksi dengan komputer.     Abstrak-sSistem informasi rekam medis rawat jalan adalah suatu system yang bertujuan untuk mengelola data pasien sampai pasien ,keluar dari rumah sakit atau klinik dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Artinya, sistem informasi yang dirancang dengan baik membantu mencegah kesalahan prosedural yang umum terjadi dalam kinerja pencatatan  dan pengelolaan data. Penggunaan teknologi informasi, computer, dan teknlogi internet merambah ke dunia pelayanan kesehatan salah satunya adalah pelayanan tertib administrasi yaitu pelayanan pendaftaran Rawat jalan online ataupun offline yang di lakukan oleh petugas. Perancangan Sistem informasi ini bertujuan untuk merancang sistem atau disain baru untuk mengembangkan suatu program informasi elektronik yang bertujuan memudahkan dalam penyelenggaraan pendaftaran rawat jalan berbasis web yang terintegrasi sehingga menjadi salah satu alternatif sistem yang berkulitas dan baik. sesuai dengan tempat observasi yang penulis  lakukan pada 25 september  2019 di RSAU dr. M.salamun. perancangan Program Aplikasi yang penulis buat ini adalah sistem aplikasi pendaftaran rawat jalan berbasis web menggunakan perangkat lunak framework php yaitu Laravel dan freeware phpMyadmin yang mendukung databse MySQL. Metodelogi pengembangan system ini adalah metode UML Usecase Diagram, dan Activity Diagram.Abstract- An outpatient medical record information system is a system that aims to manage the data of patients who are seeking treatment until the patient is discharged from the hospital or clinic.The information system designed is very important to prevent procedural errors in the implementation of registration and data management. The use of information technology, computers, and internet technology has penetrated into the world of health services, one of which is     administrative orderly services, namely online or offline outpatient registration services carried out by officers. The design of this information system aims to design a new system or design to develop an electronic information program that aims to facilitate the implementation of integrated web-based outpatient registration so that it becomes one of the alternative systems that are of good quality and good. in accordance with the place of observation that the author made on September 25, 2019 at RSAU dr.     Pelayanan medik dewasa ini membutuhkan sistem yang lebih efektif dan efisien, baik dalam penggunaan waktu, tenaga maupun sarana. Dalam pengelolaan rekam medik, kenyataan masih umumnya penggunaan rekam medik manual yang dinilai tak lagi andal menangani data medik melahirkan ide konversi rekam medik manual kertas ke rekam medik elektronik karena efektivitas dan efisiensinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menciptakan aplikasi rekam medik elektronik yang lebih dikenal sebagai EMR (Electronic Medical Record) dari rekam medik kertas di Instalasi Rawat Inap Rumah Sakit Umum Ananda Salatiga. Rekam medik elektronik dirancang dengan membuat form-form isian catatan-catatan medik dalam proses perawatan pasien selama dirawat. Data-data medik ini kemudian disimpan dalam basis data sistem dan dikelola secara digital. Setiap kali pengisian data medik pada form-form tertentu, sistem akan menghasilkan kode yang membawa informasi khusus. Pada akhirnya, sistem akan menghasilkan deret kode ICD (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems) dari kode-kode yang dihasilkan pada pengisian form-form catatan medik. Deretan kode-kode ini mampu menggambarkan perkembangan kondisi pasien dan penanganan medik yang diberikan selama perawatan.     Evaluation of inflammatory mediators in newly diagnosed type II diabetic patients without hypertension

    Background:The present study was conducted to assess the role of inflammation in T2DM by measuring the levels of cytokines, including IL-6 (pg/ml),hs-CRP(mg/L), TNF- alpha (pg/ml) in T2DM.Materials & Methods:34 type II diabetes mellitus patients and equal numbers of normotensive non diabetic subjects were recruited. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels, IL-6 (pg/ml),hs-CRP(mg/L), TNF- alpha (pg/ml) were evaluated.Results: IL-6 level of 16.2±4.2 in Group I and 3.8±1.4 in control patients. In diabetic patients HS CRP levels were observed to be 1.5±0.24 (mg/L) and 0.5±0.04 (mg/L) in control subjects. TNF- alpha levels were observed to be 34.6 in diabetic patients and 14.2 in control subjects. All inflammatory markers studied in our study showed statistically significant difference.Conclusion:Patients with established T2DM, had different cytokine profile than healthy controls. Further large prospective studies are required to evaluate a temporal relation between baseline levels of inflammatory markers and incidence of T2D
