This presentation examines a selection of different strategies and models through examples of projects delivered at Ambika P3, specifically the exhibition NOW by Chantal Akerman. In this experimental space, we have adopted collaboration, partnerships and research with an attention to site and an emphasis on film, video and interdisciplinarity to develop expanded forms of curation.
Chantal Akerman was a Brussels-born and Paris based artist and filmmaker and one of the first to move from independent film-making to engage with the gallery space in the mid 1990s expanding her audience and addressing issues of installation and visual art. Chantal Akerman was a Brussels-born and Paris based artist and filmmaker and one of the first to move from independent film-making to engage with the gallery space in the mid 1990s expanding her audience and addressing issues of installation and visual art. Akerman’s work was in pursuit of a critical investigation into geography and identity, space and time, borders, itineraries, identity and states of mind.
This presentation will examine the challenges of curating the first exhibition of Akerman’s body of installation work in the UK including a new commission as its centrepiece. How to curate Akerman’s work in a way that was accessible but also discursive and complex that challenged our accepted forms of exhibiting the moving image? How could the exhibition shed new light on the history of artist’s film and video which is still fragmented and undocumented? And how to curate an exhibition which would engage the audience in a nomadic and open trajectory yet retain the specificity of each film and video work

Get PDF116-122Mean biomass of zooplankton in Auranga, Ambika, Purna and Mindola estuaries were 4.31, 3.46, 3.58 and 3.17 ml/100 m3 respectively. Relatively higher biomass was recorded during ebb period in Auranga, Purna and st 1 of Ambika. In Mindola and st 2 of Ambika the flood period sustained higher biomass. Copepods, molluscan veligers, decapod larvae mysids and chaetognaths were the major constituents in the collections. In general, chaetognaths, decapod larvae and fish larvae were caught in higher abundance during the flood conditions. The prevailing water quality of Ambika and Mindola indicates deteriorating conditions and consequently some reduction in biomass and population density of certain groups were observed

The purpose of this thesis was to examine the effect that plating and visual factors have on attaining consumer loyalty. The objective of the thesis was to obtain an insight about the dish visualization and customer loyalty. The theoretical background for this thesis is on the concept of consumer attraction and loyalty in the restaurant industry, and how dish visual presentation can be a probable action plan that FARO Channel side restaurant can implement when it desires to sustain its consumer ship. Consumer loyalty would offer other benefits such as sustainability of the restaurant, and an opportunity for the restaurant to maintain a market share of consumers within its locality who prefer eating meals at local restaurants.
There are specific research questions that aided this research in canvassing the various aspects of dish visual presentation that might enhance consumer loyalty efforts for FARO Channel side restaurant. They include the effect of food balance in influencing consumer reviews of the food service, the impact of art-inspired food presentation and plain food presentation to consumers, and how consumer expectations on food quality can be assured by dish visual presentation.
From the results, plain presentation of foods resulted in a negative perception of the meals by consumers, while artistic presentation of the meals enhanced the level of appreciation that consumers had on the given dish. Most consumers who were satisfied with the way their meals were presented, and the services that they received from the restaurant, indicated that they would come back to the restaurant. Subsequently, the thesis confirmed that through implementation of a strategy on dish visual presentation that uses artistic features in meal presentation, a restaurant can achieve higher levels of consumer loyalty.
