It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 21-22).Kurtuluş Savaşı ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kurulması safhasında Osmanlı’nın yetiştirdiği kurmay subayların özellikle Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ve silah arkadaşlarının etkisi büyüktür. Atatürk’ün silah arkadaşlarından olan Fahrettin Altay Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun son yıllarından Cumhuriyet dönemine uzanan başarılı askeri ve siyasi hayatıyla, yakın Türk tarihine yön veren isimlerdendir. Balkan Savaşları ve Birinci Dünya Savaşında ön saflarda bulunan Fahrettin Altay bu konumunu Millî Mücadele döneminde de devam ettirmiş hatta İzmir’e ilk giren süvari birliklerinin komutanı olarak Kurtuluş Savaşı’na büyük katkıda bulunmuştur. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kurulması sürecinde Atatürk’ün yanında bulunan ve mecliste aktif rol oynayan Altay bu dönemleri kendi kalemiyle anlatmış olup ordudan emekli olduktan sonra da siyasi hayatını devam ettirmiştir. Bu araştırmada, Fahrettin Altay’ın kendi kitaplarından, torunlarıyla yapılan röportajlardan ve kendisi hakkında yazılmış makalelerden yararlanılmıştır. Bu belgeler ışığında Fahrettin Altay’ın Türk siyasi ve askeri tarihindeki yeri anlatılmıştır.During the Turkish War of Independence and the following establishment of the Turkish nation, it is impossible to disregard the contributions of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his friends in combat. Fahrettin Altay, one of Ataturk’s battle companions, came into the spotlight with his successful military and political careers ranging from the end of the Ottoman Empire to the establishment of the Turkish Republic, and also through his actions influenced contemporary Turkish history. Standing in front of the battlements in both the Balkan Wars and World War 1, Altay continued his participation in the Turkish War of Independence and lead the first cavalry units to Izmir as their commander, contributing a great deal to the war efforts. Altay, who also had an active political career in the Turkish parliament alongside Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, decided to create memoirs depicting these tumultuous times, and continued his political career even after his military career had ended. In this paper, sources ranging from Fahrettin Altay’s books, interviews done with his grandchildren and other written sources about him have been used. Through these sources, an investigation has conducted on the contributions of Fahrettin Altay on both Turkish military and political history.by İbrahim Mert Öztürk
Funds of knowledge: Developing a Diploma in Teaching in Early Childhood Education in the Solomon Islands.
No full textThis article discusses how three early childhood teacher educators, from the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education School of Education and the University of Waikato Faculty of Education, worked in partnership together and with others to develop a new Diploma in Teaching Early Childhood Education (ECE) for the Solomon Islands. We argue that the knowledge and understandings that we shared about New Zealand early childhood education and its bicultural curriculum Te Whāriki made our task easier from the outset. So too did our shared "funds of knowledge" and expertise, particularly the Solomon Islands women's indigenous knowledge and abilities to reflect on teaching and learning in their nation and New Zealand, two contexts they understood well. As we worked through a range of issues related to the development and delivery of courses, the primacy of relationships and historical, cultural and social contexts for learning were reinforced. Broad understandings of relevant education pedagogy for adults and young children were incorporated through the diploma development process. The result was a new Diploma in Teaching Early Childhood Education and new ways of teaching and learning embedded in Solomon Islands contexts, blending the best of local and imported knowledge. This article adds to a small body of literature related to ECE in the Solomon Islands and the Pacific region

Ders kitapları, içerisinde metin ve yoğun görsel ögelerin entegre bir biçimde öğrencilere sunulduğu aynı zamanda da öğrenme süreci kapsamında öğrencilerin ve öğretmenlerin en çok kullandığı materyallerin başında gelmektedir. Bu bakımdan ders kitapları öğrencilere ve öğretmenlere yol gösterecek, öğrencilere bazı bilgi ve beceriler kazandırarak onları günlük hayata hazırlayacak ve görsel tasarım açısından tüm bireylere hitap edecek niteliklere sahip olmalıdır. Öğrencilere hitap edecek görsel tasarım açısından donanımlı ders kitaplarının hazırlanabilmesi içinde önce var olan ders kitapları eleştirel bir bakış açısı ile ele alınmalı, eksiklikler tespit edilmelidir. Çalışmanın amacı, 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf seviyelerine dağıtılan Fen Bilimleri ders kitaplarının görsel tasarım ilkelerine uygun olarak hazırlanma durumlarının incelenmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışmada doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmış olup çalışma kapsamında ders kitaplarını inceleyen alanında uzman üç araştırmacı arasındaki ölçüm güvenirliğini saptamak için uyuşum yüzdesi ve kappa değeri hesaplanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, Fen Bilimleri ders kitaplarının en çok görsel tasarım ilkeleri içerisinde yer alan metin tasarımının bir alt boyutu olan tipografik özelliklere uygun olarak hazırlandığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunu sırasıyla yine metin tasarımının bir alt boyutu olan metin örgütleyiciler, kapak tasarımı, sayfa tasarımı, üretime yönelik dış yapı tasarımı ve görsel ögelerin tasarımı izlemektedir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular ışığında metin tasarımı, görsel tasarım ilkelerinin alt boyutları içerisinde yer alan, ders kitaplarında en çok dikkat edilen ve bu ilkelere göre en uygun hazırlanan bölüm olarak tespit edilirken günümüzde görsellerin önemi ve görseller üzerinden öğrenmenin ne kadar etkili olduğu düşünüldüğünde görsel tasarım ilkelerinin alt boyutu olan görsel ögelerin tasarımı en az dikkat edilen ve bu ilkelere en az uyulan bölümdür. Sonuç olarak, ders kitapları görsel tasarım ilkeleri göz önünde bulundurularak niteliğinin artırılması ve öğrencilerin görsel okuryazarlıklarını geliştirmeye yönelik iyileştirmelerin yapılması gerektiği önerilmektedir.Anahtar kelimeler: Fen bilimleri ders kitabı, görsel öge, görsel tasarım</p

Tertiary teaching: Reflecting on human change and influence from the crucible
No full textThis article draws on the metaphor of ‘a crucible’ to describe the tertiary classroom context, where I work in initial teacher education with early childhood education (ECE) student teachers. Stories are told about the classroom participants (students and an educator) in an attempt to find meaning in terms of development, both the students and mine. This storytelling highlights ongoing questions for me about the impact of what happens in the classroom we bring our selves to, and the significance of informed actions for social justice for teachers and teaching. In telling these stories I highlight my deepening understanding of education pedagogy, and perception of myself as a teacher, a practitioner of human influence and change. I hope that these stories echo and illuminate the experiences of other educators as they too seek to understand their practice
