Plant landscape of the hill territory around Ancona. - The phytosociological study of the vegetation of the arenaceous, peliticous-arenaceous, arenaceous-peliticous and alluvial lands of the hilly Ancona sector, in the east- central part of the Italian peninsula on the Adriatic side, permitted the reconstruction of different vegetation series which are distributed in close relationship with the area’s lithological formations. The edaphous-xerophilous series of the arenaceous substrata corresponds to the Roso sempervirentis-Querœto pubescentis sigmetum; the climatophilous series of the peliticous-arenaceous substrata is represented by the Asparago acutifolii-Ostryeto carpinifoliae sig-metum, while the climatophilous series of the Lonicero xy los tei -Querceto cerridis sigmetum is found on the arenaceous-peliticous substrata. The flood plain series of the oldest alluvial terraces corresponds to the Rubio peregrinae-Carpineto beluli, while in more recent ones the edaphous-hygrophilous series of the Symphyto bulbosi-Ulmeto minori s sigmetum is represented By integrating these si g me ta, the geosigmetum of the hilly territory of Ancona is obtained

Syntaxonomy of Pinus nigra s.l. communities in the Erico-Pinetea class and their distribution in the central Apennines and Balkan province

Abstract The aim was to study the relationships among forest communities dominated by Pinus nigra s.l. in the Apennine-Balkan biogeographical province. The opportunity to deepen this argument was offered by Pinus nigra natural communities present in the central Apennines (Gran Sasso d'Italia). The data collected on the vegetation were elaborated with the phytosociological method, although in the choice of the higher order syntaxa, it was considered appropriate to broaden the approach to different tectonic, palaeobotanical, palaeogeographic and biogeographic analysis factors, to define the classes and reference orders. This led to the recognition that the black pine forests of the study area, together with those of the central-southern limestone Apennines, should be included in the class Erico-Pinetea Horvat 1959. For the territory investigated, we describe the new association Junipero hemisphaericae-Pinetum nigrae and the new order Junipero communis-Pinetalia nigrae ordo nov. hoc loco, of which the southern Balkan alliance Fraxino orni-Pinion nigrae Em 1978 is considered the alliance typus. In this context, the new alliance Junipero hemisphaericae-Pinion nigrae (typus: Junipero hemisphaericae-Pinetum nigrae) represents the central-southern Apennine vicariant. The new order Junipero communis-Pinetalia nigrae represents the vicariant of the order Erico-Pinetalia Horvat 1959 in the central-southern Apennine-Balkan mountain ranges

EFFECTS OF ROBINIA PSEUDOACACIA COVERAGE ON DIVERSITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF CENTRAL-NORTHERN ITALIAN QUERCUS PUBESCENS SUB-MEDITERRANEAN FORESTS (HABITAT CODE 91AA*): A THRESHOLD ASSESSMENT

Abstract The invasive alien species Robinia pseudoacacia may lead to species homogenization in high invaded forest ecosystems. Its invasive behaviour is poorly known in dry forest habitats and low cover-abundance conditions. We have investigated central-northern Italian Quercus pubescens forest habitats (code 91AA* - EU Habitat Directive) without and with the presence of R. pseudoacacia and in respect of R. pseudoacacia dominant communities that are present in the same forest potential areas. Using levels of R. pseudoacacia cover-abundance values (Braun-Blanquet scale) we classified the vegetation releves in five groups: from 0 (total absence) to 4 (dominant conditions). Through the calculation of some indices, we highlighted the relations between groups of releves and the variation in term of ecological features. A threshold has been identified at low coverage values of R. pseudoacacia. We detected a significant difference in the lower invaded sites in term of presence of nitrophilous and alien species, Shannon diversity index and changes in nutrient, moisture, light and reaction Ellenberg indicator values. These results inform about the early alarm level to set in monitoring Q. pubescens forest habitats in sub-Mediterranean areas

Vengono proposte le nuove associazioni: Camphorosmo monspeliaceae-Halimionetum portulacoidis, Sileno albae-Acanthetum mollis, Smyrnietum rotundifolii, Bryonio marmoratae-Aretum picti e Dauco maximi-Magydaridetum pastinaceaeThis paper deals about some nitrophilous associations of Northem Sardinia. These associations are included in tbe classes: Pegano-Salsoletea Br.-Bl. e O. de Bolòs 1957, Stellarietea mediae R. Tx., Lohm et Preising in R. Tx. 1950 and Artemisietea vulgaris Lohm, Prsg. et Tx. in Tx. 1950. The new associations Camphorosmo monspeliaceae-Halimionetum portulacoidis, Sileno albae-Acanthetum mollis, Smyrnietum rotundifolii, Bryonio marmoratae-Aretum picti e Dauco maximi-Magydaridetum pastinaceae are here propose
