    Enthalpies of dilution of ternary aqueous solutions containing glycine, diglycine or triglycine and alkan-1-ols, alkan-1,2-diols, alkan-α,ω-diols, and α-aminoacids have been determined by microcalorimetry at 298.15 K. Pairwise cross interaction coefficients of the virial expansion of the excess enthalpies were evaluated. The values of these coefficients are positive, depending in a very complex manner on the number and position of the hydroxyl groups. The behaviour of these systems seems to be determined by a balance between favourable hydrophilic-hydrophilic and repulsive hydrophilic-hydrophobic interactions. The chaotropic agents employed play a major role: they are more complex than other purely hydrophilic substances, such as urea or biuret, because of the presence of hydrophobic domains on their molecules. © 1994

    YÖK Tez No: 453553Bu çalışmada; ülkemizde büyük bir potansiyele sahip sarıçam (Pinus sylvestris L.) odunu borlu bileşiklerden boraks, borik asit ve boraks+borik asit ile doğal emprenye maddelerinden kebrako ve tara birlikte kullanılarak hazırlanan deney örnekleri üç farklı (% 1, % 3, % 5) çözelti konsantrasyonu ile ASTM 1413-76 standardına göre emprenye edilmiş ve bazı fiziksel-mekanik özelliklerde değişimleri araştırılmıştır. Emprenye sonrası örneklerin testleri yapılarak kontrol örnekleri ile kıyaslanmıştır. Böylece çevreye ve insan sağlığına zarar vermeyen, daha ekonomik ve daha fazla koruyucu etkiye sahip doğal emprenye maddeleri ve borlu bileşiklerin kulanım olanaklarının arttırılması amaçlanmıştır. Doğal emprenye maddesi olarak tanen bakımından zengin tara ve kebrako, borlu bileşik olarak boraks ve borik asit kullanılmıştır. Borlu bileşiklerden boraks ve borik asittin % 1, % 3 ve % 5'lik sulu çözeltileri kullanılmıştır. Her bir emprenye işleminde hazırlanan 15 adet örnek önce emprenye düzeneğinde 30 dakika ön vakum, daha sonra 30 dakika basınç altında emprenye işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Emprenye sonrası örnekler bir hafta kondisyonlama için bekletildikten sonra bazı fiziksel ve mekanik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmada yapılan fiziksel ve mekanik testlerden tam kuru yoğunluk TS 2472, retensiyon miktarı ASTM D 1413-07, eğilme direnci TS 2474, elastikiyet modülü TS 2478, liflere paralel basınç direnci TS 2595 ve vida tutma direnci TS EN 13446 standartlarına göre yapılmıştır. Deney sonuçlarına göre; en yüksek hava kurusu özgül ağırlık değeri % 1 boraks ile emprenye edilen kebrakolu örneklerde (0.5 g/cm3), tam kuru özgül ağırlık % 5 tara ile emprenye edilen örneklerde (0.59 g/cm3) gerçekleşirken, mekanik özelliklerde en yüksek eğilme direnci değeri kebrako ile emprenye edilen örneklerde (90.05 N/mm2), elastikiyet modülü % 3'lük borik asit+boraks ile emprenye edilen kebrakolu örneklerde (11222 MPa), liflere paralel basınç direnci % 3'lük borik asitle emprenye edilen kebrakolu örneklerde (60.69 N/mm2), vida tutma direnci kebrako ile emprenye edilen örneklerde (107.7 N/mm2) gerçekleşmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Boraks, Borik Asit, Emprenye, Kebrako, Sarıçam, TaraIn this study; scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) wood which has a great potential in our country Borax from compounds of boron, boric acid and borax + boric acid with natural impregnation of quebracho and quechua examples of experiments made using a combination of three different (1%, 3%, 5%) solution concentration according to the ASTM 1413-76 standard impregnated and changes in some physical-mechanical properties were investigated. After impregnation, the samples compared with control samples by testing. Thus, it is intended to increase the possibilities of use of natural impregnation and boron compounds which makes no harm to human health and to the environment, more economical, and more protective. Quechua and quebracho as a natural preservative which is rich in term of tannin, borax and boric acid as a boron compounds is used. Borax and boric acid are boron compounds and 1%, 3% and 5% the aqueous solution are used. 15 samples which is prepared in each impregnation is first pre-vacuum impregnation apparatus for 30 minutes and then subjected to impregnation treatment for 30 minutes under pressure. Some physical and mechanical properties were investigated of samples after waiting for a week after impregnation conditioning. In this study, from physical and mechanical tests completely dry density of the (TS 2472), retention amount (ASTM D 1413-07), flexural strength (TS 2474), elastic modulus (TS 2478), compression strength parallel to the fibers (TS 2595), parallel pressure resistance to the fibers (DIN 53225) and screw holding strength (TS EN 13446) is done according to (TS EN 13446) standards. According to the experiment results, the highest air dry specific gravity of quebracho, which is the highest value and 1% in the samples impregnated with borax (0.5 g/cm3), full of dry weight 5% in the examples, can be impregnated with quechua of (0.59 g/cm3) realized that the mechanical properties of the high bending resistance value of the sample impregnated with quebracho (90.05 N/mm2), quebracho and modulus of elasticity in the samples impregnated with 3% boric acid+borax (11.222 MPa), compressive strength parallel fibers impregnated kebrako and 3% boric acid samples (60.69 N/mm2), screw holding strength in the samples impregnated with quebracho (107.7 N/mm2), respectively.     GC/MS Analysis of n-Alkan-2-ones and n-Aldehydes in Sediments from Lake Miike in Kirishima and Lake Unagiike in Kagosima

    An homologous series of n-alkan-2-ones (methyl ketones), C12 to C35 and a series of n-aldehydes, C12 to C34 were detected in surface sediments from oligotrophic Lake Miike in Kirishima and eutrophic Lake Unagiike in Kagoshima. Mass spectra of the n-alkan-2-ones displayed the following general fragmentation pattern ; base peak at m/z58 or m/z59, M+-15, M+-18, M+-58, M+-60, m/z71, m/z85, m/z127 and a molecular ion(M+). n-Aldehydes were recognized from the diagnostic mass fragment ions at M+-18, M+-44, M+-46, m/z86, m/z96, m/z110 and base peak at m/z57. n-Alkan-2-ones series with a strong odd carbon preference show major peaks at C25, C27, C29. n-Aldehydes series with a strong even carbon preference show major peaks at C26, C28, C30. Values for CPI, L/H and contents of n-alkan-2-ones and naldehydes are given in Table 2. A series of n-alkan-2-ones and n-aldehydes may be used as a possible source indicator of higher plant life. Friedelin was also detected which may have been derived from higher plants. Friedelin was abundant (5.5 μg/g) in the surface sediment from Lake Miike

    Preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer: A bibliometric analysis of the 100 most-cited research articles

    Background and Aims: Preoperative long-course radio-chemotherapy (LC-RCHT) or preoperative short-course radiotherapy (SC-RT) are widely used in the treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). This study aimed to evaluate the 100 most-cited research articles focused on preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer to reveal existing academic trends and the direction of therapeutic research. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective study based on publicly accessible data. The Web of Science database was used to identify the 100 most-cited articles. Results: The median values for total citation and average citation per year (CPY) were 240.50 (range, 150-3787) and 17.32 (5.03-222.76), respectively. Randomized (median: 24.88 vs 13.32, P = 0.001) and funded (median: 27.33 vs 14.73, P = 0.002) studies had more CPY than those with opposite characteristics. No significant difference was found between studies using SC-RT and LC-RCHT, in terms of average CPY (median: 15.27 for SC-RT vs 18.36 for LC-RCHT, P = 0.303). In terms of the primary aim of the investigation, studies investigating non-operative treatment strategies had higher CPY than those investigating other subcategories (p = 0.029). Conclusion: Randomized studies, funded studies, and studies investigating non-operative treatment were associated with more CPY. There remains equal interest in preoperative SC-RT and LC-RCHT for rectal cancer
