    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

    Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Masuknya teknologi di Desa Batu-batu memberikan dampak yang positif kepada para petani karena mampu mengurangi jam kerja yang dibutuhkan masyarakat dalam mengolah lahan pertaniannya sehingga lebih efesien dalam proses bertani. Sebelum adanya teknologi petani membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk bekerja dalam melakukan pekerjaannya serta memakai tenaga kerja yang cukup banyak sehingga waktu kerja menjadi lama. Disisi lain juga memiliki dampak negatif yaitu menghilangkan tradisi sifat gotong royong masyarakat dalam bidang pertanian, dan orang yang terjaring dalam lembaga usaha tani kini diambil alih pekerjaanya oleh teknologi mesin, sehingga membuat para buruh tani menganggur dan berpindah kesektor lain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya, dalam tinjauan ekonomi Islam terhadap dampak mekanisasi masyarakat desa Batu-bau Kec. Marioriawa Kab. Soppeng dapat dikatakan sudah berlandaskan alquran dan hadis dan sudah memenuhi beberapa unsur-unsur dari tujuan dan prinsip ekonomi Islam namun tidak sepenuhnya terpenuhi, karena dilihat dari peluang pekerjaan bagi buruh tani yang tergeserkan pekerjaanya yang diakibatkan oleh sistem mekanisasi pertanian

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik pembelajaran dan self determination terhadap keterampilan gerak dasar beladiri karate (kihon). Teknik pembelajaran yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah learning centers dan intratask variation. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Quasi Eksperimental dengan Factorial Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMK Peternakan Negeri Lembang. Sampling dilakukan dengan Cluster Random Sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dua instrumen, yaitu lembar observasi keterampilan kihon UKT FORKI (Federasi Olahraga Karate Do Indonesia) dan Self Determination Scale yang diadopsi dari American Institutes for Research (AIR). Analisis data dilakukan dengan mengunakan SPSS 20 dengan cara ANOVA. Hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa : 1) Hasil belajar keterampilan gerak dasar beladiri karate (kihon) melalui teknik learning centers lebih baik dari teknik intratask variation secara keseluruhan, 2) Terdapat interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran dan self determination terhadap keterampilan gerak dasar beladiri karate (kihon), 3) Bagi siswa dengan self determination tinggi, tidak terdapat perbedaan keterampilan kihon pada kelompok learning center dan kelompok intratask variation, 4) Bagi siswa dengan self determination rendah keterampilan kihon pada kelompok learning center lebih baik daripada kelompok intratask variation.; The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of learning techniques and self-determination of the basic movement skills in karate (kihon). Learning techniques were selected in this study is the learning centers and intratask variation. The method used in this study was Quasi Experimental with Factorial Design. The population in this study were students of class X SMK Negeri Peternakan Lembang. Sampling is done by cluster random sampling. Instruments in this study used two instruments, namely the observation sheet kihon skills UKT Forki (Federation of Karate Do Indonesia) and Self-Determination Scale adopted from the American Institutes for Research (AIR). Data analysis was performed using SPSS 20 by way of ANOVA. The results of data analysis can be concluded that: 1) the results of learning motor skills base in karate (kihon) through technical learning centers are better than engineering intratask variation overall, 2) There is interaction between the learning techniques and self-determination of the movement skills base in karate (kihon ), 3) For students with high self determination, there is no difference kihon skills in group learning centers and group intratask variation, 4) For students with low self determination skills learning center kihon group better than a group intratask variation

    Dalam rangka meningkatkan penguasaan keterampilan kata dalam pembelajaran karate diperlukan model pembelajaran yang harus diterapkan oleh seorang pengajar. Salah satu model yang dapat digunakan adalah model cooperative learning tipe STAD. STAD merupakan salah satu tipe kooperatif yang menekankan pada adanya aktifitas dan interaksi diantara siswa untuk saling memotivasi dan saling membantu dalam menguasai materi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model cooperative learningtipe STAD terhadap proses dan hasil pembelajaran karate nomor kata. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa PJKR UPI Bandung yang mengikuti perkuliahan pembelajaran karate tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil secara acak menggunakan teknik random sampling sebanyak 50 mahasiswa yang dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok (eksperimen dan kontrol). Analisi statistik yang digunakan adalah analisis uji t dengan kesamaan dua rata-rata satu pihak. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa bahwa thitung lebih besar dari ttabel. Kriteria Dalam hal ini t hitung berada pada daerah penolakan Ho, jadi Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima yang artinya terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari model cooperative learning tipe STAD terhadap proses dan hasil pembelajaran karate nomor kata. In order to improve the mastery of Karate Kata learning, takes a teaching method that is applied by physical education teachers. One of them can use STAD cooperative learning model. STAD is one type of cooperative that emphasizes on the activities and interaction among students to motivate each other and help each other in the material master. This study aimed to determine the influence of STAD cooperative learning model application to Karate Kata learning The method used in this study is the experimental method. The population in this study is PJKR UPI Student at The Karate Class Batch 2012/2013. 50 people samples using random sampling techniques, which are divided into two groups (experimental and control groups). Each group numbered 25 people. Statistical analysis used was t test analysis with an average similarity of the two parties. The test results showed that Thitung is greater than Ttabel. The criteria In this case t is in the rejection region H0, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means there is a significant effect of STAD cooperative learning model of the process and outcomes of Karate Kata learning.
