A conceptual framework for role-based knowledge profiling using semiotics approach
Pengimplementasian pengurusan pengetahuan di IPT dalam konteks penciptaan pengetahuan di FSKSM
Organisational transition towards globalization and k-economy necessitate higher learning institution to proceed with present-day changes. Today, knowledge is an added competitive advantage compared to before. Therefore it is essential for every organisation to manage its knowledge effectively and efficiently to maintain competitiveness from time to time. One of the issues to be resolved in implementation of the knowledge management concept is development of new knowledge. Therefore the objective of this project is to show how group discussion activity could contribute towards the making of new knowledge based on an identified problem domain: Identification of Factors in Determining the Number of New Student Intake to Faculty of Science Computer and Computer System, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. This project will use the Delphi technique approach adapted with Nonaka model. It is based on selected procedure modification in the technique with four main process cycles in knowledge making i.e., socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. This study will demonstrate a system developmental design approach which is object oriented using unified modelling language (UML) in order to further strengthen the adaptation of Delphi technique in development of new knowledge. Lotus Notes and Domino software was used to accomplish a competitive information management concept where it can be access no matter where the user is situated and at different time
E-learning utilization among Nigerian polytechnics students
The advent of e-learning in education has changed the phases of global education worldwide. It is a modern creation in education, which emphasises learner’s oriented and lifelong teaching learning procedures. Despite the enormous importance of e-learning to educational development, it is worrisome that most institutions of higher learning especially in the developing countries have failed to embrace its effective utilization among their students. There are series of studies on E-learning utilization in Nigerian Higher institution with little or none on e-learning utilization among Nigerian Public Polytechnics students in the North Western part of Nigeria. Therefore, this study identified factors affecting effective utilization of e-learning among students of Nigerian Polytechnics in the North Western part of Nigeria. Questionnaires was used to elicit information from the respondents. Findings reveals that elearning is not being utilize by the students and also identified anxiety, culture, motivation, technology and attitude as factors influencing e-learning utilization among Nigerian Polytechnic students. It was recommended that Lecturers should encourage and guide student on the use of computer for learning purpose
A User Readiness Model of Social Media for Learning among Polytechnic Students in Nigeria
The adoption of Internet resources for learning continues to grow in the world today. Despite the abundant benefit of utilizing social media due to the growth of web 2.0, an internet resource for communication and interaction, its use has not been fully embraced as a teaching tool in Nigeria. Social media is becoming a prominent communication tool and found to be facilitating teaching and learning activities among students. However, the user readiness of social media in learning by the students has been challenging. Despite the wide acceptance of social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, e.t.c.) amongst Nigerian polytechnic students, they do not utilize it for academic pursuit. This study examined the Use of Social Media among students in Nigerian Polytechnics. The main objective of this study is to find out the user readiness’ factors that influence the use of social media by the students in Nigerian Polytechnic. The evaluation results show that social media is an indispensable Internet platform among Nigerian Polytechnic students
COVID-19: What are the challenges of online learning? A literature review
The COVID-19 pandemic has made countries and organizations around the world to revise their business operations. Some countries took a step further by executing Movement Control Order (MCO) to reduce the spread. During MCO like Malaysia, all non-essential businesses were closed, interstate travel was prohibited, and purchasing of daily needs were limited. This pandemic had rendered Malaysian homebound. The majority of students who are still staying in hostels were not allowed to return home. To prevent direct contact, face-to-face classes were not possible to conduct. Alternatively, online learning was implemented for teaching and learning purposes for safety reasons. Sadly, most were not prepared for online learning due to the unexpected abruptness of COVID-19. Many issues were raised but little guidelines were available to be followed. Therefore, this paper aimed to identify the challenges of online learning, i.e institutional readiness, students’ difficulties, and teachers’ dilemma. Findings would assist organizations to adopt necessary actions for better education. This study was conducted by reviewing previous and recent literature from several journals, conferences, and news focusing on tertiary education. In addition, the study has proposed that organization should adopt the ADKAR framework introduced by Hiatt for transformation and change towards better online transition. The use of Learning Management System (LMS), infrastructure improvements, teaching methods and parents involvement were also crucial factors for online education success
Green information systems adoption model for manufacturing sectors in Malaysia
A Green Information System (GIS) can influence the processes and practices of manufacturers to reduce pollution in the environment. It involves using Information Systems (IS) to create proper guidance for individuals and organisations to make better green sustainable decisions and work practices. Sadly, there were only a few studies on the adoption of GIS among manufacturers. This study aims to identify the factors affecting the GIS adoption among manufacturers and propose a GIS adoption model for manufacturing companies in Malaysia. The Belief-Action-Outcome model was used as the core theory for GIS adoption among manufacturers. Seventy-six valid surveys were received from manufacturers during the data collection. The data analysed using the partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) showed that pollution prevention practices and sustainable development practices are able to translate into beneficial environmental performance. Coercive pressure was found able to increase the GIS adoption. Managers who were concerned about the harmful effect on the environment were more likely to adopt GIS. The results revealed that having an environment strategy will positively influence the organisation's belief in GIS and ultimately led to sustainable IS practices

Some of those sources used for the study include Scopus, Springer, science direct, IEEE explore, Web of science. The results were arranged under word cloud, word frequency, Year-source by attribute, matrix coding by methodology, business intelligence, and its benefits, critical success factor, data governance, and its benefits, an overview of higher education and need to support business intelligence with data governance. The study provides information to higher education business intelligence experts on the need to support their BI with data governance
Big data analytics adoption model for Malaysian SMEs
Big Data Analytics (BDA) was utilized to analyze and examine big data sets. This system is able to analyze enormous data sets which exist in different formats and to extract useful information within the data which may be used to improve business decision-making, predict sales, enhance customer relationships, and ultimately lead to generating increased revenues and profits. Multinational and large companies are starting to adopt BDA to acquire the benefits and advantages from this technology. However, the rate of adoption of BDA by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is low. There is a need and desire that SMEs should start to adopt BDA in order to stay one step ahead of their rivals, and at the same time, to remain competitive in the market. Hence, this study aims to identify the factors influencing the adoption of BDA in Malaysian SMEs and propose a BDA adoption model for Malaysian SMEs
