2024. 8. Lee Yongho. The study aims to analyze impacts of taekwondo among Korean and Pakistan taekwondo athlete students. This research explains how cultural, social and personal experiences can have impacts on mental health. Research argues that sports participation has significant impacts on physical and psychological health. Physical active Korean participants show better outcomes in improving physical and mental health and quality of life. Although Pakistani athletes show the extreme pressure of competitions. It also affects personal well-being, satisfaction, better functional ability, better state of mind. The interviews are conducted with Pakistani and Korean taekwondo athletes to analyze their depression, anxiety, overall satisfaction of life and inclusivity of taekwondo between two countries.
The studys total number of participants are 10 taekwondo athletes. In which 5 Pakistani and 5 Korean athletes participated for the research.
The research findings revealed a notable contrast between the mental health of Korean and Pakistani taekwondo athletes. Korean taekwondo athletes exhibited fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety, suggesting an overall higher level of mental well-being compared to their Pakistani counterparts. These results underscore the disparity in the inclusivity of taekwondo practices in terms of accessibility, affordability, and gender neutrality between the two groups.
Within the context of South Korea, taekwondo appears to be more accessible, affordable, and inclusive for athletes, irrespective of their gender. This inclusive environment, where resources and opportunities are readily available, contributes to the enhanced mental health and well-being of Korean athletes. On the other hand, in Pakistan, taekwondo practices seem to be less inclusive, with challenges in terms of accessibility, affordability, and gender neutrality. This situation, in turn, exerts a negative impact on the mental health of Pakistani taekwondo athletes.
The findings also suggest that Korean athletes tend to exhibit more effective coping mechanisms, possibly due to the supportive and inclusive environment they operate within. In contrast, the less inclusive practices in Pakistan may contribute to a greater vulnerability to mental health challenges among its taekwondo athletes. These disparities highlight the importance of creating inclusive and supportive structures within taekwondo to ensure the mental well-being of athletes regardless of their location or background.
Acknowledgement i

Adaptive Reuse of Historic Buildings: An Ecological Indicator
Urban metabolism (UM) is the sum of processes for which cities mobilize, consume, and transform their resources for built environments to function effectively. It consists of interrelated processes working at various urban levels forming an intri-cate socio-environmental network to achieve urban sustainability, including adap-tive reuse of heritage buildings. As significant components of historic urban areas, heritage buildings are adapted for appropriate functions to prolong their lifespans. This standard practice is an ideal solution for reducing adverse environmental impacts of the construction industry given that new buildings consume energy and resources and have large carbon footprints. Moreover, the adaptive reuse of heritage build-ings increases socio-cultural viability and promotes eco-friendly environments. This practice of rehabilitation and reuse has been studied vastly. However, the relation-ship between urban metabolism and heritage buildings from an ecological perspec-tive has not largely gained scholarly attention. Hence, this chapter explores this relationship by advocating that reuse and conservation are ecological principles, and that adopting existing infrastructure such as historical buildings and increasing their life cycles contributes toward desirable urban metabolism. This brings down cost and time of construction, requires less resources, retains a set of materials for longer periods for metabolic processes, and promotes environmental and social sustainability. The chapter reviews relevant literature and specific adaptive reuse case studies in urban areas around the globe including restoration and redevelopment of singular or multiple heritage buildings that display significant positive environmental impacts such as addressing resource depletion and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The chapter also highlights the ecological aspect of a built environment concerning sustainable supply of materials and energy required for a desired urban metabolism. Based on this, the research builds a case for conservation and adap-tive reuse to be employed as an important indicator for urban metabolism through maintenance and management of historical urban built environments.</p

Half of faith: American Muslim marriage and divorce in the twenty-first century
This work gathers previously published and newly written material on American Muslim weddings, marriage, and divorce.Half of Faith gathers a selection of resources on, and reflections and analyses of, Muslim marriage and divorce in twenty-first century America. In the United States as elsewhere, marriage is central to ongoing Muslim conversations about belonging, identity, and the good life. The articles collected here, written over the course of two decades, provide a window onto moments in American Muslim life and thought. Though far from comprehensive, topics covered include diversity in Islamic legal thought, marriage contracts, wedding customs, dower norms, divorce practices, and experiences of polygyny. Contributors engage—and disagree—with each other, and sometimes with their past selves. By bringing together and making more widely available existing publications alongside a few purpose-written essays, this reader aims to enrich current conversations and to help document scholarly debates and community activism
