Melanella anapetes Souza & Pimenta & Barros 2021, sp. nov.
Melanella anapetes sp. nov. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: 8AC38413-2C40-42F0-847F-A816B71BD34B (Figure 16 A–G) Type material. Holotype MNRJ 35269 † (Figure 16 A–G). Paratype: Brazil: Off Bahia state, REVIZEE Nordeste (11°35′30″S 37°12′18″W, 510 m), 30/x/2000: MNRJ 35281 † [1 dd]. Type locality. Brazil: Off Alagoas, REVIZEE Nordeste (10°06′35″S 35°46′41″W, 720 m), coll. RV Natureza, 16/xii/2001. Etymology. From anapetes Gr., which means wide open, expanded; relative to the elongated aperture of the species. Description (Holotype). Shell conical, elongated, apex obtuse, reaching 8 whorls, 4.4 mm long, 1.2 mm wide. Larval shell conical, smooth, transition to teleoconch indistinct. Teleoconch whorls convex; suture well demarcated, sloping; surface smooth; incremental scars slightly demarcated, appearing in irregular intervals. Last whorl almost 60% of the shell length; base rounded, elongated. Aperture high and narrow, pear shaped, acute posteriorly and rounded anteriorly; outer lip thin, prosocline, sinuous, projecting gradually from the suture and reaching the maximum projection in the middle of the height; inner lip sinuous, slightly twisted, sloping and well demarcated. Not umbilicate. Shell vitreous. Measurements. Holotype MNRJ 35269†, 8 whorls, SL= 4.4 mm; BWL= 2.5 mm; AL= 1.6 mm; SW= 1.2 mm; AW= 0.8 mm. Remarks. The slightly twisted columella resembles species of Haliella Monterosato, 1878, but the latter genus usually comprises species with cylindrical shell and a blunt apex (Bouchet & Warén 1986: 338). We prefer to include this species in Melanella because of its conical shape (Figure 16A, B), including that of the protoconch (Figure 16D). Melanella anapetes sp. nov. has a broad aperture (Figure 16E) like M. hians (Figure 9J), but it is less expanded laterally and the former species is much smaller (holotype: 8 whorls, SL= 4.4 mm, SW= 1.2 mm v s. syntype of M. hians NHMUK 1887.2.9.1588: 10 whorls, SL= 10.1 mm, SW 3.3 mm). Melanella anapetes sp. nov. resembles M. adiastalta sp. nov. (Figure 15 A–G) in the outline of the outer lip, but has a more elongated shell shape (ratio SW/SL= 0.28 vs. 0.37 in M. adiastalta sp. nov.) and aperture (ratio AW/AL= 0.5 vs. 0.6). Melanella anapetes sp. nov. differs from M. doederleini (Figure 11 A–I) and M. sarissa (Figure 12 A–L) by the more elongated aperture (ratio AW/AL= 0.5, 0.7 and 0.6, respectively). 10. Stryphnodendron flavotomentosum A.Lima & V.C.Souza (Lima et al., 2021: 70). — Type: BRAZIL. Espírito Santo. Baixo Guandú, Fazenda Galiléia, no barranco do rio próximo a estrada do Mutum Preto em Baixo Guandu, lado esquerdo, 11 December 1991, D.A. Folli 1519 (holotype ESA108191!, isotypes CVRD!, VIES!) Trees, 13– 18 m. Leaves with 9–12 pairs of pinnae; 10–14 pairs of leaflets; petiolar nectary 1, verruciform; leaflets 6– 14 × 5–8 mm, obovate, proximal leaflets oblong to elliptic, chartaceous, subconcolor, upper surface yellow-pubescent, lower surface yellow-tomentulose, unilateral tuft of trichomes on the lower surface present and prolonged up to the 3rd pair of basal veins. Inflorescences of simple thyrsi, brownish; cymulae of solitary to ternate spikes; spikes 8–10.5 cm long. Flowers monoclinous, corolla yellow-sericeous, yellow. Fruit a nucoid legume, straight, flat-compressed, seeds slightly prominent, valves woody, inconspicuously nerved. Distribution and Habitat — Stryphnodendron flavotomentosum is known only in the Atlantic Forest domain from Western Espírito Santo state, municipalities of Baixo Guandu and Marilândia, where it has been collected in forested slopes and river ravines. Conservation —Data Deficient (DD) [AOO = 8 km ², EOO not measurable]. The species is known only from a few collections and the area where it occurs is considered very poorly collected. However, recent collecting efforts have revealed populations of several taxa previously known from limited herbarium samples, and it is possible that intensive field work might increment the available sampling of S. flavotomentosum and broaden its current distribution. Efeitos de diferentes níveis de restrição alimentar sobre características do líquido ruminal de caprinos
Goat farming is a widespread activity in the Northeast of Brazil, where the semiextensive and extensive breeding system predominates. The difficulty in evaluating the quality and quantity of ingested volumes makes it difficult to determine the nutritional status of the animals raised in these systems. The evaluation of ruminal fluid is a useful tool to identify deficiencies and metabolic diseases, but it is still little explored in this species. 25 castrated goats with 6 to 7 months of age were kept in collective pens and underwent adaptation period where they received bulky and concentrated food in addition to water and mineral salt. The experimental period was 72 days, and the animals were divided into 5 groups of 5 animals and submitted to isoproteic / hypoenegetic and isoenergetic / hypoprotein food restriction at different levels. The ruminal liquid samples were collected 7 times over the experimental period using a semi-flexible gas-gastric probe approximately 1.5 m long and 12 mm outside diameter, lubricated with vegetable oil. The variables measured were the pH, the reduction time to methylene blue (RAM), the sedimentation and flotation time (TAS) and the total titratable acidity (ATT) and the number of protozoa in the ruminal fluid. features. Foram utilizados 25 caprinos castrados com 6 a 7 meses de idade, mantidos em baias coletivas e passaram por período de adaptação onde receberam alimento volumoso e concentrado além de água e sal mineral. O período experimental foi de 72 dias, e os animais divididos em 5 grupos de 5 animais e submetidos a restrição alimentar isoprotéica/hipoenegética e isoenergética/hipoprotéica em diferentes níveis. As amostras do liquido ruminal foram coletadas 7 vezes ao longo do período experimental utilizando sonda oro-gástrica semiflexível com aproximadamente 1,5 m de comprimento e 12 mm de diâmetro externo, lubrificado com óleo vegetal. As variáveis aferidas foram o pH, o tempo de redução ao azul de metileno (RAM), o tempo de sedimentação e flutuação (TAS) e a acidez titulável total (ATT) e o número de protozoários no líquido ruminal. apresenta. Rondônia, Track from Mutumparaná to Rio Madeira, 30 November 1968, Prance et al. 8995 (holotype MG 039652!, isotypes F!, NY!, R!, S!, US!) Trees 6–12(–15) m tall. Leaves with 6–8 pairs of pinnae, 5–12(–14) pairs of leaflets, petiolar nectary 1, conical; leaflets (6–)11–15(–37) × (3–)5–7(–9) mm, usually oblong-rhombic, distal leaflets obovate, proximal leaflets sometimes elliptic, chartaceous to subcoriaceous, discolor, upper surface subglabrous to puberulent, lower surface pubescent, unilateral tuft of trichomes on the lower surface present. Inflorescences of simple thyrsi, pinkish to yellowish; cymulae of solitary to ternate spikes; spikes 4–6.5 cm long. Flowers monoclinous, corolla tube and lobes usually glabrous, sometimes subglabrous, pinkish. Fruit a nucoid legume, slightly curved, subturgid, seeds slightly prominent, valves subcoriaceous, inconspicuously nerved. Vernacular names: — Paricarana (Brazil, Amazonas). Distribution and habitat: — Stryphnodendron foreroi occurs in terra firme forests of Western Amazon (Southwest Sector and Solimões/Western Amazon phytogeographic provinces), and less frequently in the Xingu-Madeira province of Southeastern Amazon. It is found in the Brazilian states of Amazonas, Mato Grosso and Rondônia, as well as in this last state´s bordering areas with Bolivia and Peru. Conservation:—Least Concern (LC) [AOO= 52.000 km 2, EOO= 1,056,471.887 km 2]. Phenology: —The species was collected with flowers in November and January, with fruits from May to July.
