Il fegato bronzeo di Piacenza con le sue numerose e fitte iscrizioni ha posto sempre dei seri problemi per una esatta lettura. Nella storia degli studi si può osservare però che è mancato un impegno epigrafico vero e proprio da parte degli etruscologi, attratti da suggestioni spesso estranee alla natura intrinseca del testo. I recenti lavori del Maggiani e del Van der Meer hanno ora avviato proficue riletture del monumento inscritto, riletture che l'autore del saggio che qui si presenta cerca di perfezionare aggiungendo alcune considerazioni esegetiche a carico soprattutto della sequenza metlvmθ. Nel complesso viene offerta une riedizione ecdotica, unitamente ad un nuovo apografo il più possibile aderente alla realtà epi-
(v. rétro) grafica. Con un buon margine di crédibilità, l'autore ritiene di aver individuato in un gruppo di lettere il nome di Turan, dea finora considerata assente sul fegato; a questa divinità viene associato il nome di Laran, tracciato sulla vesica fellea, nella trasposizione etrusca corrispettivo di Ares, amante di Afrodite (Turan in etrusco).Morandi Alessandro. La principale delle iscrizioni della tarquiniese Tomba degli Scudi, CIE 5385, ricostituita nel suo reale svolgimento e nei suoi precisi tratti epigraf ici, si presenta ora corne una delle iscrizioni etrusche più estese e più ricche lessicalmente. I contenuti dell'epigrafe si riferiscono ad un personaggio della grande famiglia titolare del sepolcro, Larθ Velχas, raffigurato nella stessa parete ove è tracciata l'iscrizione, ma non è escluso che possano esservi riferimenti anche ad attività, svolte in ambiente sacro, dalla moglie di questi, Velia Seitiθi. Viene comunque individuata una successione di funzioni magistratuali rivestite da L. V., mentre si isolano alcune sequenze del tutto inedite; ciò apre notevoli prospettive per la ricerca sulla lingua etrusca confermando peraltro talune recenti, e sconcertanti, rivelazioni epigrafiche su testi noti da antica data.Morandi Alessandro. Da un gruppo di iscrizioni si apprendono nuovi dati sulla società, sui culti e sugli usi grafici nei santuari della Veio etrusca. Di un particolare interesse si rivela l'esame di un frammento vascolare etrusco-corinzio, dal santuario di Portonaccio, su cui appare la dedica di un personaggio di probabile origine servile ; di eguale interesse sul piano sociale è la qualifica di zinaie, probabilmente « vasaio », di un altro personaggio, appartenente alla gens dei Tulumnes. La frequentazione dei santuari veienti da parte di genti provenienti da siti anche dell'Etruria settentrionale è dimostrata dal cavallino di bucchero inscritto che reca, in una grafia non meridionale, un gentilizio molto simile a quello presente sulla fibula d'oro di Chiusi; peraltro l'attribuzione dei cavallino a Veio è ricavata da inediti documenti d'archivio (qui dati in appendice). L'ermeneutica dei testi considerati induce a circoscrivere la semantica dei verbi su base malu- e tu- ru-, rispettivamente al «fare», in senso sacro, ed al «dare».Morandi Alessandro. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
