Preliminary Measurements of Natural Yaw Angle of Forearm During Reaching Exercise for the Effective Robot-Mediated Upper Limb Rehabilitation
Publisher Copyright: © 2018 IEEE.The ArmAssist, developed by Tecnalia, is a portable cost-effective upper limb rehabilitation platform for at-home tele-rehabilitation after a stroke and a reaching exercise is one of important trainings offered by the ArmAssist. From previous pilot study of the ArmAssist, it has been found that in the reaching exercise, the device should provide comfortable and natural orientation of the forearm for effective and safe rehabilitation. Hence, in this study, we present preliminary measurements of natural orientation of the forearm, specifically yaw angle that corresponds to the orientation of the device during the exercise. Two healthy subjects participated in the measurements using the ArmAssist platform and the results show that comfortable and natural yaw angle of the forearm during the reaching exercise varies with the position while anthropometric information of the subject such as arm length also has an influence on the angle. These findings imply that the forearm position and subject's limb information should be taken into account to find the proper orientation of the device. This work has been funded in part by FIK and the Spanish Ministry of Science (Project PID-020100-2009-21) J. Inhabiting the Uninhabitable: Post-nuclear Cofrentes, 2056: The reality we might live to see
In a future scenario where nuclear energy has been the globally accepted solution to solve the energy crisis, an accident happening in the year 2056 obliterates any hopes for humanity's future on the surface of the Earth. This graduation project narrates an evolutionary exploration of unconventional ways of living in a post-apocalyptic scenario in which architecture becomes the central element that creates a bond between the radioactive environment and the living systems. The architectural intervention is defined by three main intentions: the first one is the solver of conflicts between the radioactive context and the villagers. The second one is the inducer of environmental self-sufficient practices as a more sustainable approach to the use of the resources of our planet. And finally, the third intention is to give continuity to the communal and territorial systems existing in the area before the accident, creating a dialogue between pre-nuclear and post-nuclear Cofrentes. In this architectural narrative, the project builds on an evolutionary process that grows organically answering to the societal needs and resources available in the radioactive context. From the moment of the accident until the present day, the project evolves from a post-apocalyptic phase characterized by the use of scavenged materials and rudimentary constructions to a self-organizative phase, which applies the research findings explored during the first period of the graduation studio, initiating a more technological design.Post-nuclear Cofrentes exposes through the power of architecturalimagination, the ever-present potentiality of a nuclear-dystopic event, a reality we might live to see.Architecture, Urbanism and Building Science

PALABRAS CLAVEArbitrariedad. Constitucionalismo ético. ABSTRACTThe evolution from a legalist State model to a constitutional one has led to a re-reading of the constitutional text in a neo-constitutional context. The neo-constitutionalist theory opens some questions that will be analyzed, such as the neo-constitutionalist approach (standard, with a principle-based focus, and guarantor, with a positivist bias), the concept and the arguments for and against such trend. The author will analyze the main elements of discussion on neo-constitutionalism, paying particular attention to three controversial issues. Firstly, the connection between moral and law; secondly, the power balance between legislators and judges, and thirdly, if the principle-based doctrine involves a greater degree of justice, or, quite the opposite, is just leading to an arbitrary system. Finally, the author makes a warning, pointing how the neo-constitutionalism, in its extreme, may turn into an ethical constitutionalism. KEYWORDSArbitrariness. Ethical constitutionalism. Judiciary. And The Duty Of Respect For Int
ABSTRACT.
It will highlight the emergence of a new organizational paradigm by which multinational / transnational corporations should respect and promote minimum international human rights standards. The different initiatives, while well intentioned, have only succeeded on moving control's core of the activities developed by companies to the logic of a voluntary Corporate Social Responsibility. The author argues that control instruments must be designed beyond that CSR (from soft law to a hard law). Urges to define the liability of companies and improve repair's mechanisms on human rights needs.
Exploding the Myth: Women in Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad
In The Penelopiad, through a postmodernist rewriting of the classic myth of Odysseus and Penelope, Margaret Atwood gives voice to the women who were ignored and relegated to the shadows in the Odyssey. Through the creation of the new identities of Penelope and the twelve maids, the Canadian author makes this Homeric myth explode by questioning everything we thought we knew about these women. While the character of Penelope has been praised by critics and authors, the maids have, once again, been disregarded. The aim of this paper is to show how the deconstruction of these characters is used to create new female identities that destroy the myth of Penelope and reinforce the image of the twelve maidsEn The Penelopiad, a través de una reescritura postmodernista del mito clásico de Odiseo y Penélope, Margaret Atwood da voz a las mujeres que fueron ignoradas y relegadas a las sombras en la Odisea.

Over the last decades, methodologies for the improvement and redesign of processes have come from stastical control of projects, from the PHVA cycle, from the concept of Porter’s value chain (1985) passing through re-engineering, six sigma, BPM, among others. Some organizations have applied these methodologies and performance models. However, none of these provides a general methodological framework where systematic steps may be taken by a company in order to ascertain how to develop a project appropriately when change in processes is involved, regardless of the methodology or performance model implemented. In this article a methodological framework is presented that has been developed as the result of the comparison of some of the existing methodologies and the work done by the author as a consultant. This methodology has been designed to be applied by work teams of companies in charge of the re-design and improvement projects on processes.

The EU Digital Markets Act (DMA) : a competition hand in a regulatory glove
Published: August 2023This is a pre-copyedited, author-produced version of an article accepted for publication in European law review following peer review. The definitive published version is available online on Westlaw UK.The newly enacted Digital Markets Act (DMA) finds itself at a crossroads. The DMA can develop into a specialist field of competition law for digital platforms or it can evolve into a new field of EU law, detached from competition law. The DMA’s ultimate trajectory will depend on the legal characterisation given to the DMA. Is it a special competition law regime or an original instrument distinct from competition law? This article lays the groundwork for characterising the DMA by offering a complete descriptive analysis of the instrument. Among the elements discussed are the twin concepts of "gatekeepers" and "core platform services", which together condition the DMA’s scope of application, as well as the legal obligations imposed on gatekeepers. The article proposes a novel categorisation of the obligations, showing that each obligation can be associated with at least one of two conventional competition law concerns (exclusion or exploitation). The discussion shows the difficulty of pinpointing the exact nature of the DMA. We argue that this ambiguity creates challenges for the practical implementation of the DMA
