Forner-Alcaide 5 and Forner-Alcaide 13: Two New Citrus Rootstocks Released in Spain
No full textThe search for new citrus rootstocks with better performance than those currently used is the major aim of the citrus industry in many countries. New diseases, the spread of known diseases, and citrus culture under different environmental conditions force the demand for new rootstocks. Carrizo citrange [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. x Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.], the most used rootstock in Spain, frequently shows iron chlorosis and salinity problems. Other less common rootstocks, such as Cleopatra mandarin (C. reshniHort. ex Tan.), C. volkameriana Ten. & Pasq., Swingle citrumelo (C. paradisi Macf. x P. trifoliata), and C. macrophylla Wester, do not conveniently solve the problems. Forner-Alcaide 5 (F-A 5) and Forner-Alcaide 13 (F-A 13) are two interspecific hybrids obtained through traditional hybridization by the senior author in a program for breeding citrus rootstocks at the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias (IVIA) in Moncada (Valencia), Spain. The goals of the breeding program were to obtain new rootstocks tolerant to CTV, salinity, and lime-induced chlorosis and resistant to Phytophthora sp. 'Mujer buena vs. mujer mala': Estrategias discursivas polarizadoras en torno al caso J. Hermoso en Facebook
No full textLas redes sociales constituyen una extensión performativa de la vida real de la persona. Aquí proliferan discursos de odio (Mancera y Pano 2020) que contribuyen a la polarización entre grupos sociales. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las estrategias polarizadoras presentes en un corpus de comentarios de Facebook a noticias y publicaciones en torno a la agresión sufrida en 2023 por la futbolista J. Hermoso durante el acto de entrega de la Copa del Mundial de Fútbol Femenino. El análisis mixto basado en corpus se centra en las estrategias de selección léxica que designan a la futbolista en particular, y a las mujeres en general, y en los efectos que dichas estrategias provocan en su imagen (face), cuya consecuencia es la polarización del discurso. Se parte de los presupuestos del Análisis social del discurso (Bravo 2020, Alcaide 2023), aplicados a la comunicación digital (Pano 2022), y las propuestas de Alcaide (2014) sobre la relación argumentación-imagen social. Se detecta un predominio de términos de valoración negativa hacia Hermoso, con efectos no solo en su imagen social, sino extendidos también a la de aquellas personas que la defienden. One male lacks the head and another specimen lacks left protarsomeres. Description. Male. Body metallic dark green with short and sparse yellowish setae; frons with a central orange spot; abdomen orange, except for last two segments, metallic green; legs, antennae and mouthparts, including maxillary palpi, yellow-orange. Head transverse with slightly protruding eyes. Maxillary palpi modified with palpomere II wide, flattened and curved; III very swollen and rounded on the external side; IV with narrow base and then very distinctly widened to apex, especially on the internal edge (Fig. 3Y). Antennae modified with antennomere I bearing a narrow, long and apically curved expansion on the external side and dorsal keel wide, high and apically curved; III–VI very modified and ventrally expanded; III, in dorsal view, slightly sinuate on the external side and with a wide and shallow incision on the internal side and a short and broad appendix on the internal apex (Fig. 7B); V with short setae on distal face of ventral laminar expansion; VI with a very long, narrow and curved expansion and a tuft of long and erect setae on ventral side; IX transverse and apically rounded (Fig. 2Y). Protibial keel extended to proximal 2/3 of the length of tibia, with dorsal edge straight and anterior edge bearing an angular bulge, visible in lateral view (Fig. 4Y). Protarsomeres slightly enlarged; II with an obvious dorsal bulge. Gonostyli, in lateral view, straight, with apical lobes directed forward; apical lobes, in dorsal view, swollen and slightly diverging. Apex of aedeagus slightly pointed; aedeagal hooks subequal in size (the subapical only slightly larger). Sclerotised hooks of endophallus equal in size, the apical pointing outwards and the subapical backwards (Fig. 6Y). Female. Not modified. Refer to key for diagnostic characters. Taxonomy. For its relationships, see discussion on C. marginiventris. Distribution. Iraq, Iran. No full textWe have studied tolerance to iron chlorosis of four citrus seedling rootstocks: the two hybrids Forner-Alcaide 5 (F-A 5) and Forner-Alcaide 13 (F-A 13), as well as their parents [Cleoptra mandarin (Citrus reshni Hort. ex Tan.) and Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.]. Six-month-old potted plants were grown in four different iron concentrations (0, 9, 18 and 36 square M) and leaf iron content, dry weight, total chlorophyll content, catalase activity and root ferric chelate reductase (FCR) activity were measured after 60 days. F-A 5 had the highest FCR activity, total chlorophyll content, total dry weight and iron content in roots. P. trifoliata, a genus susceptible to iron chlorosis, showed the lowest total chlorophyll content, FCR activity and total dry weight. F-A 5 is an iron-chlorosis-tolerant rootstock which may be suitable for use in soils that cause this problem
