Índice de producción de huevos, reclutamiento reproductor y distribución de la biomasa de camarón azul Litophenaeus stylirostris en el frente costero de Agiabampo, Sonora-Sinaloa, México
IMPRESO Y PDFEn términos económicos la pesquería más importante del país es la del camarón. Como una estrategia para proteger el recurso se establecen anualmente periodos de veda; la determinación exacta la realizan dependencias oficiales de gobierno y las evaluaciones generalmente se basan en factores propios del sistema de pesca (e.g. CPUE), o en el estado de la población medido de manera instantánea (e.g. presencia de hembras maduras), y pocas veces en características biológicas de las especies. Otro factor a considerar es que las especies objetivo principales del recurso camarón pertenecen a especies diferentes de los géneros Litopenaeus y Farfantepenaeus, pero todas están sujetas al mismo periodo de veda. Utilizando como caso de estudio la pesquería del Sistema Lagunar Agiabampo (SLA), realizado mediante embarcaciones menores y sustentada en una población de camarón azul (L. stylirostris), en este trabajo se analiza la solidez del sistema actual de vedas mediante un análisis espacio-temporal que incorpora los siguientes criterios biológicos: fecundidad, estructura de tallas, abundancia, capacidad reproductiva de la población y talla de primera madurez. Todos ellos son integrados con la finalidad de identificar periodos y profundidades que promuevan tanto la sustentabilidad del recurso, como mayores beneficios económicos para los usuarios. Para ello se realizaron 10 muestreos mensuales durante el año 2002 en la zona adyacente al SLA, utilizando una red de arrastre (chango) jalada mediante una embarcación menor (23 pies de eslora). En el campo se registró la profundidad del lance, la temperatura superficial del mar y la captura total. Una muestra de la captura se llevó al laboratorio y de cada organismo se registró longitud total, peso total, sexo y estadio de madurez (escala morfocromática). Sobre la base de la información anterior se deduce que la distribución de frecuencia de tallas poblacional muestra una sola moda centrada entre las clases 160mm-175mm, pero al segregar por sexos y madurez se observa que los machos adultos que son en su gran mayoría maduros se distribuyen predominantemente en la parte central, mientras las hembras inmaduras representan a las tallas pequeñas y las maduras a las grandes. La relación peso-longitud es definida por la ecuación W = 7E-6L3.03, (r2 = 0.96, P>0.05, n = 501). El 50% del potencial reproductivo efectivo de la población se alcanza integrando el índice de producción de huevos (IPH) durante los meses de abril y mayo. De manera general se reconocen en la distribución espacio-temporal dos zonas de gran concentración de organismos, una entre 4 y 6 brazas de profundidad durante los meses de abril y mayo, y otra de menor magnitud a mayor profundidad de las 8 brazas alrededor del mes de julio. Las mayores tallas, se registran a lo largo del año entre las 4 y 6 brazas. Las mayores biomasas en los meses de abril a julio (94% del total anual). Actualmente el periodo de veda oficial comprende de abril a agosto-septiembre, de acuerdo con los resultados de los meses en los que se registra la mayor actividad reproductiva, pero es también en esta época donde inciden tallas mayores a la establecida como de primera madurez (L50) por lo cual el esfuerzo de captura en época de pesca se encuentra sesgado hacia organismos inmaduros y de tallas pequeñas, lo que se contrapone con las estrategias tradicionales de proteger a la porción poblacional que aún no se reproduce. Sobre esa base se propone un periodo alternativo de vedas con duración de septiembre a mayo, permitiéndose la extracción del recurso únicamente de junio a agosto. El periodo alternativo incluye tanto los meses de crecimiento de los organismos, como aquellos meses de alta actividad reproductiva, de tal forma se permite que una mayor proporción de la población alcance la madurez sexual (ya que no se están capturando durante su fase de crecimiento) y se asegura la producción del 50% o más del total anual de huevos; adicionalmente, se estaría propiciando que durante la breve temporada de pesca se capturen principalmente organismos que sobrepasan la L50. En términos relativos el esfuerzo debe bajar, pero los rendimientos económicos aumentarían ya que de manera potencial se tendría acceso a 4 veces más biomasa que la que actualmente se contempla y las tallas de pesca se incrementarían alrededor de 1 a 2 categorías comerciales.Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
