How organizational culture influences performance measurement systems in SMEs
Purpose: Literature highlights the impact of culture on managerial processes in general and the performance measurement system (PMS) in particular. However, understanding how organizational culture (OC) influences the PMS remains a challenge, especially in SMEs as in these companies the studies are very limited. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how OC influences PMSs in manufacturing SMEs. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the above purpose, a case study approach has been adopted. Four manufacturing SMEs with heterogeneous OC were investigated by means of companies’ documents reviews, participant observations and semi-structured interviews. A conceptual framework based on the competing value framework proposed by Cameron and Quinn (1999) and the PMS typology proposed by Garengo (2009) has been used to investigate the impact of OC on PMS. Findings: According to the results, OC has a huge impact on PMS in manufacturing SMEs. The dimensions of “internal/external focus” influence strategy formalization, monitoring of the external environment and performance review. The “flexibility/control” dimensions influence the adoption of the balanced (or unbalanced) set of performance measures a company uses. Originality/value: This paper contributes to clarifying how OC influences PMSs in manufacturing SMEs. Moreover, the study of interplay between flexibility/control dimensions and internal/external dimensions supports the identification of three theoretical propositions and four PMS types related to the four different OCs identified by Cameron and Quinn (1999). © 2019, Emerald Publishing Limited

An CFRP fabrics as internal reinforcement in concrete beams
This paper presents preliminary results of an experimental programme that investigated mechanical properties of a balanced-symmetric CFRP fabric laminate. Although FRP fabrics have potential to be formed into efficient reinforcement systems that can enable the development of innovative low embodied energy concrete structures, very little research on applications of FRP fabrics has been reported in the literature. In accordance with the classical laminate theory, in a balanced-symmetric laminate there is no coupling between in-plane deformation and curvature, nor between in-plane normal loading and shear deformation. Sintesis Nanokristal Perak Menggunakan Pereduksi Alami
Sintesis nanokristal perak telah berhasil dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode reduksi kimia memakai reduktor yang berasal dari tumbuhan alam. Reduktor yang digunakan adalah gambir yang diolah, daun jambu biji, dan serbuk kayu jati. Sintesis nanokristal partikel perak menggunakan pereduksi alami gambir dilakukan pada konsentrasi 0,1 M dan 0,05 M, untuk pereduksi alami daun jambu biji dan serbuk kayu jati dilakukan pada konsentrasi 0,1 M selama 24 jam. Pereduksi alami gambir memiliki kemampuan yang kuat dalam mereduksi ion perak menjadi logam perak dibandingkan pereduksi alami yang lainnya dimana hasil yang didapatkan berupa serbuk yang bewarna keabu-abuan dan mengkilap. Pereduksi alami menggunakan daun jambu biji menghasilkan perak yang masih belum murni. Sedangan penggunaan pereduksi alami serbuk kayu jati tidak didapatkan endapan perak. Dari hasil XRD menggunakan pereduksi alami gambir didapatkan pola yang sama dengan standar logam perak. Ukuran kristal yang dihasilkan menggunakan pereduksi alami gambir sekitar 36 nm untuk konsentrasi 0,1 M dan 47 nm untuk konsentrasi 0,05 M, yang diukur dari puncak tertingginya. Sedangkan ukuran kristal yang dihasilkan menggunakan pereduksi alami daun jambu biji adalah 53 nm pada konsentrasi 0,1 M. Hasil SEM menunjukkan bahwa nanokristal perak yang dihasilkan berupa kumpulan sperikal (bulat) dengan ukuran partikel kecil dari 1 m.
