    Statistical Beamforming for Multi-Set Space–Time Shift-Keying-Based Full-Duplex Millimeter Wave Communications

    Full-duplex (FD) communication has been shown to provide an increased achievable rate, while millimeter wave (mmWave) communications benefit from a large available bandwidth that further improves the achievable rate. On the other hand, the concept of multi-set space-time shift keying (MS-STSK) has been proposed to provide a flexible design trade-off between throughput and performance. Hence, in this work, we consider the design of an FD-aided MS-STSK transceiver for millimeter wave communications. However, a major challenge is that channel reciprocity is not valid in mmWave communications due to shorter channel coherence time. Thus, the uplink (UL) pilots cannot be utilized to estimate the downlink (DL) channel. To overcome this challenge, we propose a beamforming technique based on channel statistics without assuming channel reciprocity. For this purpose, a closed-form expression for the outage probability of the system is derived by employing the characterization of the ratio of the Indefinite Quadratic Form (IQF). The derived analytical expression is then utilized to design optimum beamforming weights using the Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP)-based heuristic method. Moreover, an Iterative Statistical Method (ISM) of joint transmit and receive beamforming algorithm is also developed by utilizing Principle Eigenvector (PE) and Generalized Rayleigh Quotient (G-RQ) optimization techniques.     Medical ultrasound image speckle reduction and resolution enhancement using texture compensated multi-resolution convolution neural network

    Ultrasound (US) imaging is a mature technology that has widespread applications especially in the healthcare sector. Despite its widespread use and popularity, it has an inherent disadvantage that ultrasound images are prone to speckle and other kinds of noise. The image quality in the low-cost ultrasound imaging systems is degraded due to the presence of such noise and low resolution of such ultrasound systems. Herein, we propose a method for image enhancement where, the overall quality of the US images is improved by simultaneous enhancement of US image resolution and noise suppression. To avoid over-smoothing and preserving structural/texture information, we devise texture compensation in our proposed method to retain the useful anatomical features. Moreover, we also utilize US image formation physics knowledge to generate augmentation datasets which can improve the training of our proposed method. Our experimental results showcase the performance of the proposed network as well as the effectiveness of the utilization of US physics knowledge to generate augmentation datasets

    Abstract AbÅ« ‘Ubaid al- Qasim ibn Sallam  was one of the early era scholars of ‘ulÅ«m al-Qur’Än who lived in the 3rd Century of the Hijra. He live in the era Bani Abbasids reign who had the ideology of Mu’tazilah. Although Abbasid goverment carried out the mihnah, but AbÅ« ‘Ubaid, who was an ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama’ah cleric could survive the incient. This article discusses the dialectic of AbÅ« ‘Ubaid’s  thought of  ulum al-Qur’an with the social and political situation  that occured at that time.  In his book Faá¸Äil al-Qur’Än, AbÅ« ‘Ubaid acknowledged that the Qur’an is kalÄm Allah  and  narrated  the hadith and aṡar which told about syafÄ’at al-Qur’anfor its reader. Of course this is cotrary to Mu’tazilah  ideology, as the official mazhab of the state. Nevertheless AbÅ« ‘Ubaid did not blame the goverment’s ideology that stated  the Qur’an was a creature (khalq al-Qur’Än).Keyword: AbÅ« ‘Ubaid ‘ulÅ«m al-Qur’Än, AbbasidAbstrakAbÅ« ‘Ubaid al-Qasim ibn Sallam adalah salah satu ulama ‘ulÅ«m al-Qur’Än generasi awal yang hidup pada abad ke 3 H. Ia hidup pada masa pemerintahan Bani Abbasiyah yang berideologi Mu’tazilah. Meskipun pemerintah Abbasiyah saat itu melakukan mihnah, namun AbÅ« ‘Ubaid yang merupakan ulama ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama’ah yang selamat dari peristiwa tersebut. Artikel ini membahas pemikiran ‘ulum al-Qur’an AbÅ« ‘Ubaid pada situasi sosial dan politik yang terjadi saat itu. Dalam kitabnya Faá¸Äil al-Qur’Än AbÅ« ‘Ubaid mengakui bahwa al-Qur’an adalah kalÄm Allah dan meriwayatkan hadits serta aṡar yang menceritakan tentang syafÄ’at al-Qur’an bagi pembacanya. Tentu saja hal ini berseberangan dengan madzhab Mu’tazilah, sebagai madzhab resmi negara. Walaupun demikian AbÅ« ‘Ubaid tidak menyalahkan ideologi pemerintah yang menyatakan bahwa Al-Qur’an adalah makhluk (khalq al-Qur’Än)

    Dinasti Umayyah dianggap sebagai masa Dark Age of Islam oleh para sejarawan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pertumpahan darah yang dilakukan oleh sesama umat Islam, seperti: (1) tragedi Karbala; (2) penjarahan Kota Madinah, serta; (3) melindungi Ka'bah dari pengepungan pasukan Umayyah yang mengakibatkan terbakarnya Ka'bah. Oleh karena itu, pada masa ini banyak tokoh yang mengklaim dirinya sebagai khalifah di Jazirah Arab untuk mengatasi konflik tersebut, salah satunya ialah Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid ats-Tsaqafi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid ats-Tsaqafi pada masa Dinasti Umayyah yang dianggap sebagai Dark Age of Islam. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan metode sejarah dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Keterlibatan Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid ats-Tsaqafi dapat dibuktikan melalui peristiwa seperti: (1) Pengepungan Makkah yang dilakukan Dinasti Umayyah tahun 683 M; (2) Pemberontakan Kufah tahun 685 M; (3) Pertempuran Khazir tahun 686 M; (4) Pertempuran Harura dan Madhar tahun 687 M; dan lain sebagainya. Pada masa Dark Age of Islam ini, wilayah Jazirah Arab terbagi menjadi tiga kekuatan besar, yaitu Dinasti Umayyah (Suriah dan Mesir), Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr (Hijaz), dan Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid ats-Tsaqafi (Kufah). Pada akhirnya, kekuasaan Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid ats-Tsaqafi dikalahkan oleh Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr dan meninggalkan pengaruh terhadap ajaran Agama Islam Syiah, seperti: (1) konsep Bada', (2) doktrin Ghayba, dan (3) doktrin Raja'a
