    The year 2020 is began with the declaration of a pandemic of novel coronavirus, which first occurred by the end of 2019 in Wuhan region of China. The novel virus infection is so called as Covid-19 or SARS Cov-2. The infection rapidly spread all over the world and changed the lives of millions. In this extended review, we aimed to discuss current and possible treatment strategies against SARS Cov-2 infection. Treatment options mentioned here include but not limited to chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine, favipiravir, remdesivir, lopinavir/ritonavir, umifenovir, steroids, cepharanthine, convalescent plasma, anticoagulants and monoclonal antibodies. In conclusion, mainstay of the SARS Cov-2 treatment is general measures such as patient isolation and supportive care. However, encouraging developments are being achieved in terms of discovery of an effective treatment and production of a potent vaccine

    The lives of billions in the world have become to change by the end of 2019, almost two years ago, after novel coronavirus (Covid-19) infection emerged in Wuhan, China. Covid-19 caused about 33 millions of infection and 1000040 deaths worldwide within 10 months of the pandemic [1]. By December 18th of 2021, number of the infected subjects and deaths rose up to 274 million and 5364119, respectively [2]. Despite its devastating effect on human life, not even a single drug has shown significant enough efficacy against Covid-19 to change the course of the pandemic. However, some new agents and repurposed drugs were able to show efficacy to some extent. In the past 2 years, we have noticed that many Covid-19 cases have actually recovered without any treatment other than general measures. Indeed, most young and middle-aged people survive the disease mildly, yet the diseasecan be severe in people with advanced age and who have significant additional comorbidities. That’s why, one of the most important things to do while waiting for the pandemic to end is to take and maintain measures to prevent the spread ofCovid-19 in societies. Nevertheless, as the outbreak progressed, we began to consider Covid-19-related deaths asordinary. Unfortunately, we also loosen the tight measures to control the disease

    Dear Editor: I read with great interest the article by Akin et al., reporting an association between coronary plaque and serum lipid parameters. The authors examined serum lipid levels in patients undergoing computed tomography of the coronary arteries and reported that LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and the ratio of triglycerides to HDL cholesterol were significantly higher in patients with coronary artery disease, and HDL cholesterol was significantly lower than in patients without coronary atherosclerosis. The results presented in the above study are consistent with data from the literature. Increased total and LDL cholesterol levels were found in patients with adequate coronary collateral development compared with patients with inadequate coronary collateral development.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Serum C-reactive protein to albumin ratio as a reliable marker of diabetic neuropathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus

    In various diseases characterized by inflammation, the C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) serves as a marker of inflammation. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is frequently complicated by diabetic neuropathy (DN) and timely diagnosis is crucial for treatment and potential reversal of this complication. Since both DN and T2DM are associated with chronic, low-grade inflammation, our study aimed to evaluate CAR levels in type 2 diabetic subjects with DN and compare them to those in subjects without DN. Patients presenting to our institutional outpatient clinics were divided into two groups based on the presence of DN. Data on characteristics and laboratory measures, including CAR, were compared between the DN and non-DN groups. The median CAR in the DN and non-DN group was 2.19% (range 0.2 – 49%) and 0.56% (range 0.02 – 5.8%), respectively (P < 0.001). CAR showed significant positive correlations with weight (r = 0.19, P = 0.01), BMI (r = 0.11, P = 0.03), waist circumference (r = 0.10, P = 0.046), fasting glucose (r = 0.14, P = 0.004), serum creatinine (r = 0.25, P < 0.001), triglyceride (r = 0.17, P < 0.001), and LDL-cholesterol (r = 0.13, P = 0.001) levels, and an inverse correlation with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (r = -0.16, P <0.001). Additionally, CAR demonstrated a sensitivity of 78% and specificity of 73% for predicting DN at a threshold of 1.02% (area under curve [AUC] 0.84, P < 0.001, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.82 – 0.87). High CAR levels were independently associated with an increased risk of DN (P < 0.001, OR 1.34, 95% CI 1.08 – 1.62). Elevated CAR levels may thus be considered a potential marker for DN in T2DM patients

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
