    Heart disease classification ensemble optimization using Genetic algorithm

    Heart disease diagnosis is considered as one of the complicated tasks in medical field. In order to perform heart disease diagnosis an accurate and efficient automation system can be very helpful. In this research, we propose a classifier ensemble method to improve the decision of the classifiers for heart disease diagnosis. Homogeneous ensemble is applied for heart disease classification and finally results are optimized by using Genetic algorithm. Data is evaluated by using 10-fold cross validation and performance of the system is evaluated by classifiers accuracy, sensitivity and specificity to check the feasibility of our system. Comparison of our methodology with existing ensemble technique has shown considerable improvements in terms of classification accuracy

    M. N. Srinivas, the well known sociologist is widely recognised as architect of modern Indian sociology and social anthropology. His publications have been analysed by year, domain, authorship pattern, channels of communication used. Keywords, etc. The results indicate that the papers published by him are of a nature that qualify him to be a 'role model' for the younger generations to emulate. By the end of 1995, Srinivas had to his credit 144 papers which, included 33 broad papers in sociology and anthropology; 18 papers in social change; 28 papers in village studies; 12 papers on religion; 17 papers on caste and 36 papers of general popular interest. The periods 1958-61 and 1974-77, when Srinivas was 38-41 and 58-61 years old. were his most productive periods with highest publication activity

    Sorted Consecutive Occurrence Queries in Substrings

    The string indexing problem is a fundamental computational problem with numerous applications, including information retrieval and bioinformatics. It aims to efficiently solve the pattern matching problem: given a text T of length n for preprocessing and a pattern P of length m as a query, the goal is to report all occurrences of P as substrings of T. Navarro and Thankachan [CPM 2015, Theor. Comput. Sci. 2016] introduced a variant of this problem called the gap-bounded consecutive occurrence query, which reports pairs of consecutive occurrences of P in T such that their gaps (i.e., the distances between them) lie within a query-specified range [g₁, g₂]. Recently, Bille et al. [FSTTCS 2020, Theor. Comput. Sci. 2022] proposed the top-k close consecutive occurrence query, which reports the k closest consecutive occurrences of P in T, sorted in non-decreasing order of distance. Both problems are optimally solved in query time with O(n log n)-space data structures. In this paper, we generalize these problems to the range query model, which focuses only on occurrences of P in a specified substring T[a.. b] of T. Our contributions are as follows: - We propose an O(n log² n)-space data structure that answers the range top-k consecutive occurrence query in O(|P| + log log n + k) time. - We propose an O(n log^{2+ε} n)-space data structure that answers the range gap-bounded consecutive occurrence query in O(|P| + log log n + output) time, where ε is a positive constant and output denotes the number of outputs. Additionally, as by-products, we present algorithms for geometric problems involving weighted horizontal segments in a 2D plane, which are of independent interest

    Forage potential of several halophytic species grown on saline soil in arid environments

    This study was carried out to evaluate the forage quantity and quality of several halophyte species grown in arid-saline environments. After identifying 44 halophytic species in the region and considering the potential of quantitative and qualitative forage production, 13 species from four families, i.e. Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae, Leguminosae and Convolvulaceae, and eight genera were selected for further evaluation. These species differed significantly in terms of both forage quantity, measured in terms of fresh (FW) and dry weight (DW), and forage quality assessed in terms of tissue water content (TWC), ash, nitrogen content (N), crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), dry matter digestibility and metabolizable energy (ME). The highest fresh and dry weights were obtained from Suaeda ferticosa (1006.3 g and 306.3 g, respectively) and Noaea mucronata (909.3 g and 309 g, respectively). However, based on forage quality characteristics, Alhagi maurorum, Bassia scoparia, Noaea mucronata, Halostachys belangriana and Cressa cretica showed the best forage potential. Values of ash, CP, ADF, NDF and ME measured in the halophytes species ranged between 7.9% and 33.2%, 6.2% and 15.8%, 30.0% and 50.3%, 33.2% and 56.4%, 5.6 and 8.7 MJ kg−1, respectively. The forage quality of the evaluated halophytic plants was influenced by unfavorable environmental conditions such as high soil salinity and low rainfall, however, these species can be considered as new sources of forage. Nevertheless, further studies are needed to improve the quality of such halophytic species by reducing the ash content and increasing the ME

    In vitro and in silico antiproliferative potential of isolated flavonoids constitutes from Pistacia integerrima

    Cancer is one of the most demanding domains for innovative, effective, safe, and affordable therapeutically active chemicals. The main aim of this study is to research new phytochemicals with anticancer activity. The current experiment identified and analyzed six compounds for anti-cancer potential supported by molecular simulation studies. The defatted methanolic extract underwent column chromatography, resulting in the isolation of six flavonoids. These include 3,5,7,4′-tetrahydroxy-flavanone (1), naringenin (2), 3,5,4′-trihydroxy-7-methoxy-flavanone (3), sakuranetin (4), spinacetin (5), and patuletin (6). The isolated compounds (1-6) were assessed for in vitro anti-cancer activity against various cell lines such as HepG2 (hepatoma G2), A498 (kidney), NCI-H226 (lungs), and MDR2780AD (human ovarian). The maximum antiproliferative effect was against HepG2 and MDR2780AD. When compounds 6, 5, and 1 were compared to a standard anti-cancer medicine (paclitaxel) with an IC50 of 7.32, it was shown that compounds 6, 5, and 1 exhibited significant activity against HepG2 with IC50 values of 14.65, 20.87, and 27.09 μM, respectively. All tested compounds showed an IC50 of less than 1 μM and had notable effects against MDR2780 AD cell lines. Compound 6 exhibited notable potency against the HepG2, A498, and MDR2780AD cell lines, among the six compounds that were evaluated. In contrast, compound 3 demonstrated the most pronounced impact on the NCI-H226 cell line. Docking investigations were performed using tubulin as the specific target concerning PDB ID 4O2B. The six compounds under investigation interact hydrophobically and hydrophilically with tubulin-binding site amino acid residues

    Abstract AKRAM, M., R. M. IQBAL and M. JAMIL, 2014. The response of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) to integrating effects of drought stress and nitrogen management. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., An experiment was conducted to study the dual effects of drought stress and nitrogen levels in wheat crop under the climatic conditions of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. For this purpose, five drought stress regimes including control (D 1 ) drought stress at stem elongation stage (D 2 ), drought stress at stem elongation + earing stage (D 3 ), drought stress at stem elongation + earing + milking stage (D 4 ), drought stress at stem elongation + earing + milking + grain formation stage (D 5 ) and four nitrogen levels viz. control, 130, 160, 190 kg N ha -1 (N 0 -N 3 ) were involved. The exposure of plants to drought stress leads to a noticeable decrease in transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, leaf relative water contents, nitrogen use efficiency and yield of wheat, however, nitrogen application improve these parameters. Besides this, by increasing drought stress water uptake capacity was increased and significant decrease was bring about by nitrogen application. Water use efficiency increased with increasing nitrogen rate and deficit irrigation regimes and it show the capability of crop to survive under drought stress conditions and increasing wheat crop yield in study region by reasonable increasing of nitrogen fertilizer rate

    Technical and financial feasibility of shelterbelt and block plantation agroforestry systems in Punjab Pakistan

    Vita.Two studies were conducted to determine the technical and financial feasibility of agroforestry systems in Punjab, Pakistan. One study was on cultivated land and examined the effects of single row, 6 to 71/2year old, shelterbelts on wheat and sorghum yield. Three different row spacings (10 m, 12 m and 15 m) of Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Bombe-x ceiba were studied. The other study was on saline fallow land and examined the feasibility of using block plantations to reclaim the soil. Acacia nilotica and Eucalyptus camaldulensis were grown as monocultures and as a mixed plantation for six years and the yield, economics and soil amelioration was documented. In the shelterbelt study, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) was the variable most strongly correlated with production of wheat (r=0.67) and sorghum (r=0.89). Wheat yield was least within 1 m of the trees and increased as distance from the trees increased up to 5 m. Beyond 5 m there was no significant difference in yield. Wheat production was greater adjacent to B. Ceiba than E. camaldulensis. There was no significant difference in wheat yield between year six and seven, but the seventh year yield was consistently lower than the sixth. The benefit cost ratio (B:C) and net present value (NPV) were greater in agroforestry treatments than the agronomic monoculture and they were greater in narrow tree row spacing than wider row spacing. In the block plantation study, E. camaldulensis had a greater bole length and girth in the mixed plantations, possibly because of the greater availability of nitrogen associated with the presence of the leguminous A. nilotica. All three treatments had a very attractive B:C, NPV and internal rate of return; the mixed plantation had a greater return than the monocultures. Organic matter, N, P, and K increased and Na, SAR, pH, EC, and bulk density decreased in the soils under the trees compared to fallow plots

    Experimental investigation into the effect of substrate clamping on the piezoelectric behaviour of thick-film PZT elements

    This paper details an experimental investigation of the clamping effect associated with thick-film piezoelectric elements printed on a substrate. The clamping effect reduces the measured piezoelectric coefficient, d33, of the film. This reduction is due to the influence of the d31 component in the film when a deformation of the structure occurs, by either the direct or indirect piezoelectric effect. Theoretical analysis shows a reduction in the measured d33 of 62%, i.e. a standard bulk lead zirconate titanate (PZT)-5H sample with a manufacturer specified d33 of 593pC/N would fall to 227.8pC/N. To confirm this effect, the d33 coefficients of five thin bulk PZT-5H samples of 220µm thickness were measured before and after their attachment to a metallized 96% alumina substrate. The experimental results show a reduction in d33 of 74% from 529pC/N to 139pC/N. The theoretical analysis was then applied to existing University of Southampton thick-film devices. It is estimated that the measured d33 value of 131pC/N of the thick-film devices is the equivalent of an unconstrained d33 of 345pC/N

    A new sialon Eu3.60LiSi13.78Al6.03O6.82N22.59 has been discovered via the single-particle diagnosis approach. Its crystal structure (space group P3m1) was solved and refined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. It has the interesting feature of two types of disorder at the Eu2 site: positional disorder (Eu2a/Eu2b) and substitutional disorder with (Si/Al)2(O/N). The structure is generalized to the formula A4-mBnC19+2mX29+m (A = Sr, La, Eu, Ce; B = Li; C = Si, Al; X = O, N; 0 ≤ m ≤ 1; 0 ≤ n ≤ 1), of which Sr3.61LiSi14.27Al5.61O6.19N23.25 (Sr-sialon, m = 0.41, n = 1) and La2.85Sr0.76LiSi14.86Al4.93O2.89N26.51 (LaSr-sialon, m = 0.40, n = 1) are two examples that have been obtained as a single-phase powder. Sr-sialon:Eu and LaSr-sialon:Eu both show blue to yellow emission, depending on the Eu concentration, whereas Sr-sialon:1% Ce shows a deep-blue emission band centered at 422 nm with a full width at half-maximum of 80 nm and an internal quantum efficiency of 80% (λex = 355 nm). The latter phosphor has very good thermal stability of both emission intensity and color. A white light-emitting diode (LED) containing the newly discovered Sr-sialon:5% Ce as the blue phosphor component shows excellent color-rendering indices (Ra = 96 and R12 = 97) with a correlated color temperature of 4255 K. This indicates that Sr-sialon:Ce is a highly promising deep-blue phosphor for illumination grade white LEDs.Accepted Author ManuscriptChemE/Product and Process Engineerin
