Evaluating feed-in tariff policies on enhancing geothermal development in Indonesia
Geothermal is vital for sustainably meeting Indonesia's energy demand, given its estimated massive reserves potential equivalent to 24 GW of electricity. The Indonesian government has set geothermal contributions to the national energy mix at 7,241.5 MW by 2025 and 17,546 MW by 2050, despite harnessing such vast potential needing significant investment. To that goal, the government established a feed-in tariff (FIT) mechanism to encourage private sector investment in geothermal development. However, FIT has undergone significant alterations in a short period. Moreover, various complicating factors—bureaucracy, social, and technical—exist alongside FIT implementation. Therefore, the extent that FIT can effectively enhance geothermal development in Indonesia should be challenged with further investigation. This study explores the efficacy of FIT policies for geothermal electricity by comparing the performance of several FIT schemes in terms of their impact on the government's target achievement. This study combines the policy analysis framework with system dynamics modeling to understand the dynamic interaction of FIT policy and other important components in geothermal development. The findings show that modest bureaucracy and public support are required. Prioritizing Franchise Expansion with AHP: Strategic Evaluation of Special Product Placement in Minimarkets
This study examines the strategic decision-making process involved in expanding franchise minimarkets by pinpointing optimal locations for launching special product offerings. Utilizing the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the research assesses eight alternative location types to establish priority rankings based on various decision criteria. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires administered to expert respondents, and pairwise comparisons were performed to evaluate the relative importance of both criteria and alternatives. The analysis identifies rest areas on toll roads as the most advantageous locations for expansion, followed by vertical residential complexes and office buildings. Among the criteria, potential customer volume and daily traffic flow proved to be the most influential factors in the decision-making process. Consistency ratio analysis verified the reliability of the AHP model. These findings offer actionable insights for franchise operators, highlighting the importance of targeting high-traffic locations to improve sales performance and operational efficiency. The study concludes that prioritizing rest area locations can significantly facilitate strategic growth and the effective placement of special products within existing minimarkets

Resilience Index Development for the Manufacturing Industry based on Robustness, Resourcefulness, Redundancy, and Rapidity
The manufacturing industry has always been one of
the most significant GDP contributors globally, accounting for approximately
15% of the global GDP. However, with unknown future challenges, the industry
must begin to consider and improve its underlying resilience capability in
order to survive. This study offers a
fundamental resilience index that can be applied to different manufacturing
industries to guide them in developing a strategy to increase their resiliency.
Resilience refers to a company’s ability to bounce back to its original or
targeted state after being disrupted or exposed to a risk. In this study,
resilience has four main factors: robustness, resourcefulness, redundancy, and
rapidity. This study combines these four factors with the four typical
organizational functions in most organizations: operations, finance, strategy,
and human resources. Each resilience factor has a set of indicators obtained
through literature studies and in-depth interviews with experts. This study
indicates that the most influential factor and resilience indicator are
redundancy and reserve funds, respectively. Furthermore, this study found that reserve funds,
customer satisfaction, and demand forecasts are the top three indicators in
terms of the highest weighted value
When and why does transition fail? A model-based identification of adoption barriers and policy vulnerabilities for transition to natural gas vehicles
Natural gas vehicles (NGV) face significant adoption barriers in Jakarta. Therefore, a successful transition requires measures from the government. Owing to the high cost of transition policies, the efficacy of these policies must be analyzed to identify the most effective policy. The implementation of transition policies, however, could dynamically influence people's perception and behavior, which then changes the landscape of adoption barriers. Furthermore, even a seemingly successful policy may fail when a certain pathway of uncertainties emerges in the future. To address these concerns, we integrated agent-based modeling, exploratory modeling, and diffusion of innovation theory into the exploratory model-based diffusion analysis approach. This approach evaluates the policy's performance, explores changes in the relative importance of different adoption barriers, and identifies policy vulnerabilities, i.e., scenarios leading to policy failures. We tested this approach on four NGV transition policies targeting three adoption barriers. We found that the importance of adoption barriers and the critical uncertainties upon the implemented policies. The social–behavioral barrier predominates under current conditions, whereas the economic factor becomes more relevant when all policies are executed. Understanding the changes in adoption barriers and policy vulnerabilities will help decision-makers to prepare additional measures that ensure a successful transition.Policy Analysi
Pemodelan Kebijakan untuk Mendorong Pemerataan Akses Internet di Daerah Non-Komersial oleh Sektor Swasta
Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan menghadapi tantangan dalam penyediaan akses internet bagi seluruh masyarakat, dimana saat ini masih terdapat banyak kabupaten yang belum tersedia akses internet. Sektor swasta tidak bersedia untuk menyediakan akses internet karena secara ekonomi kabupaten-kabupaten tersebut merupakan daerah tidak komersial, yang berarti mereka tidak akan memperoleh keuntungan namun sebaliknya akan rugi. Penelitian ini mengembangkan sebuah model konseptual dari kebijakan-kebijakan secara kualitatif yang akan mendorong penyediaan akses internet di kabupaten tersebut. Model konseptual menunjukkan hubungan antara kebijakan-kebijakan seperti regulasi tarif sewa, kewajiban pelayanan universal, regulasi subsidi dan regulasi perizinan yang akan mendorong sektor swasta untuk menyediakan akses internet. Model tersebut juga menunjukkan bahwa jumlah pengguna internet akan memberikan dampak positif terhadap Produk Domestik Regional Bruto (PDRB) dan Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD) yang pada akhirnya memberikan keuntungan bagi sektor swasta
A Model-Based Strategy for Developing Sustainable Cosmetics Small and Medium Industries with System Dynamics
Global customer consciousness for more sustainable products and government requirements for a more sustainable industry have motivated cosmetics small and medium industries (SMIs) to innovate the strategy by integrating sustainability principles into their manufacturing processes. However, the dynamic complexity of balancing sustainability efforts, stakeholders’ interests, and uncertainty in material pricing require a conceptual reference model to help managers and decision-makers cope with the transition process. This work therefore proposes a model-based strategy using system dynamics to assist managers and stakeholders in SMIs to clarify their possible pathways and to offer a framework to understand, guide, and generate future strategies. In multiactor, multistakeholder conditions, the proposed methodology can provide insights into how stakeholders can effectively intervene to improve sustainability through open innovation dynamics models. The case study presented here on a personal care cosmetics company demonstrates several leverage points and obstacles, thereby allowing each stakeholder to understand their strategic role in realizing sustainable cosmetics SMIs
