APPLICATION OF THEORY A ON ABC MODEL TO ENHANCE ORGANIZATIONAL RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION
The objective of higher education and research institutions is the creation of new knowledge and success depends on how much new knowledge have been created during a given period of time generally calculated and measured annually. A simple measurement index for this namely ABC model has been developed by Aithal P.S. and Suresh Kumar. As per the model, the annual research performance can be determined by knowing the research index of the institution/ individuals and is calculated by considering the total number of research publications during that period. Application of theory of organizational performance namely ‘Theory A’ can improve research productivity of educational institutions. This is a management strategy which believes in delivering target as responsibility, feeling of creativity and contribution for motivation, identifying with the organization as commitment and accountability as a hallmark of efficiency. In this paper, we have discussed how Theory A on organization performance can be used for enhancing institutional research productivity
INSPIRING THROUGH SELF CONTRIBUTION – AN ANALYSIS ON HOW ACTIVE THE INDIAN TOP BUSINESS SCHOOL DIRECTORS IN RESEARCH & PUBLICATIONS
People serving in higher education institutions at an executive level are expected to be a role model for youngsters and have a responsibility in increasing institutional research performance by their active involvement in Research and Publications. Organizational performance depends on individual & team performance. Recently introduced ABC model by Aithal P.S. & Suresh Kumar P.M., has facilitated to calculate individual and institutional annual research index. It is well known that directors in top business schools are reputed, eminent researchers capable of leading the institution through their ability to inspire individuals and teams in the entire institution and capable of enhancing the overall research productivity of the organization. In this paper, we have studied the research contribution of the directors of 33 top Indian business schools by studying their average research productivity for last five years for 2012-2016. The research productivity of the directors/Deans of these 33 top Indian business schools are studied by identifying the number of research papers published, a number of books/edited books published, and the number of book chapters published in an ISBN number books, and a number of business cases published. The research performance of the directors is compared with the annual research performance of their respective institution for the year 2015. The effect of director’s research performance as a role model on institutional performance is also discussed using the postulates of Theory A. It is observed that many directors fail to act as role model due to their failure to reach higher research grade
Factor Analysis based on ABCD Framework on Recently Announced New Research Indices
Research indices are used to measure the ability of a researcher and quality of research publications for comparison of research contribution made in a given area/subject. Researchindices generally use the number of research publications and the number of citations thepapers published by an author during a given observation period. There are a number ofresearch indices commonly used to assess the ability and hence the quantity of research alongwith the quality of a research publication. Research indices are calculated based on eithercitation values of research publications of a research scholar or the number of research paperspublished by a research scholar for a given period. Apart from generally used citation indiceslike H-index, i10-index, G-index, and based on argument on whycertain researchpublications do not attract citations initially for some years, it is found that the best method ofidentifying the contribution to research is calculating the annual research index for an authorby considering the annual research publications. Recently, we have suggested some of thenew research indices used for calculating research productivity of individuals as well as ateam of people in an organization which include ARP-Index – (Annual Research PublicationIndex), RC-Index – (Research Continuation Index), RE-Index (Research expansion Index),Project Productivity Index, and Cost Index. In this paper, we have analysed the affectingfactors on these indices by considering four determinant issues which include researchorganization, researcher, funding agency, and industry using objectives, productivity, andcost as three key parameters. The various factors affecting these newly proposed researchindices are discussed by considering their advantages, benefits, constraints, anddisadvantages

Nanotechnology based Mega Machine Design for Large Scale Air Cleaning – Prospects and Challenges
Air pollution is a major component of environmental degradation in the 21st century worldwide due to the increased use of fossil fuels in various industries and their contribution to contaminating the natural atmosphere around us. Environmental pollution is posing a challenge to human existence and the continuation of human generation on this planet. Environmental degradation is considered a major affecting factor of climate change which includes both global warming driven by industrial emissions of green gases and large-scale shift in weather patterns. This problem is growing on a large scale throughout the world and poses challenges to survival and sustainability. Nanotechnology being universal technology can be used to solve this problem of environmental degradation by cleaning the degraded air on large scale and can counter the contribution of natural and industrial pollution. In this paper, the proposal of construction and use of nanotechnology based mega machine is analyzed and the prospectus and challenges of such machine production and maintenance for large scale air cleaning are discussed. The advantages, benefits, constraints, and disadvantages of production and use of such mega machines from various stakeholders’ points of view are identified. Finally, the idea of self-sustainable nanotechnology filters based mega machines is proposed using solar/wind energy supported systems for automatic and self-sustainable us
Analysis of ABC Model of Annual Research Productivity using ABCD Framework
Higher education institutions ought to be centres of learning as well as knowledge creation.
Ne w knowledge is generated through research activities carried out by its faculty. There are
various parameters for ranking an institution such as curriculum standards, student placement
record, admission demand, high profile faculty, investment and infrastructure facilities,
alumni accomplishments etc. Going by this, the prime objective of a higher education
institution is often forgotten. ABC model recently developed by Aithal P.S & Suresh Kumar
P.M., focus on measuring annual research performance of higher educational institutions.
According to this model, an organization can calculate its annual research performance using
its annual research output by taking into account the following factors such as the number of
articles published in refereed journals, the number of books published, and the number of
chapters in edited book or number of business cases published in Journals. Studying the
implications of a system or model considering all determinants in key areas and analysing the
key issues to identify the effective factors and its critical constituent element is the task of
ABCD analysis model. In this paper, we have attempted to apply ABCD analysing technique
on ABC model of annual research productivity of higher educational institutions
Nanotechnology based Innovations and Human Life Comfortability –Are we Marching towards Immortality?
Nanotechnology deals with researching on materials of size one to one hundred nanometers with comparative different physical properties with respect to same materials at higher dimensions. Nanotechnology is recently considered as general-purpose technology essential for solving problems optimally related to both basic needs and advanced wants. Being anticipated as universal technology of21st century, nanotechnology is on the verge of solving many long-time waiting problems related to human prosperity. It is predicted that nanotechnology may have its largest impact on the medical industry compared to other industries. Patients may drink medicine containing nanorobots programmed to kill and reconstruct the molecular structure of cancer cells and viruses. It is also predicted that nanorobots could slow or even reverse the aging process, and life expectancy of human beings could increase significantly. Through suitable programming, nanorobots are expected to perform delicate surgeries which can be thousand times more precise than expert surgeons. Nanorobots can also change the physical structure and appearance of human beings through programmed cosmetic surgery. The advancements in medical and pharmaceutical applications of nanotechnology will be expected to improve the drug delivery and organ regenerations prospects. The paper anticipates and discusses the possibilities how the health science progress is driven by nanotechnology-based innovations leading to predicted and most desired immortality of living beings in this world and reaching the expected status – the ultimate state in human life comfortability
