Prediction of Viable CD34 Count in Harvested Product by Peripheral Blood Hematopoietic Progenitor Count of Automated Hematology Analyzer Undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Successful peripheral blood stem cell transplantation depends on infusion of an appropriate number of HPCs to achieve rapid and durable hematologic recovery.Purpose: In this study, we evaluated the use of the Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell count program on the Sysmex XN-3000 hematology analyzer as an effective parameter for enumerating CD34+ cells.Patients and Methods: Whole blood samples from 144 subjects who are either healthy donors or patients scheduled to undergo peripheral blood stem cell collection were collected and hemopoietic stem cells were quantified using CD34 cell enumeration by flow cytometry and XN-HPC by hematology analyzer.Results: The correlation between the two methods was high (r = 0.766; 95% CI: 0.702– 0.818). Passing–Bablok showed an intercept at 3.45 (2.54 to 4.74) with a slope of 0.78 (95% CI 0.69 to 0.89). Residual analysis of this model indicated no significant deviation from linearity (p = 0.360). The receiver operating characteristic curve demonstrated an area under curve to be 0.88 (0.82 to 0.92), with a positive predictive value of 80.3%. The correlation between CD34+ and XN-HPC showed a strong relationship and good agreement with minimal bias.Conclusion: The XN-HPC showed good analytical performance. With the increasing requirements for stem cell transplantation, a technically simple and rapid alternative for stem cell enumeration that is sustainable is highly useful.Keywords: XN-HPC, CD34+, progenitor, leukemia, allogeneic, autologou

Effect of cytokinins on shoot induction from nodal explant of pecah beling (Strobilanthes crispus)
Strobilanthes crispus or also known as Pecah Beling is a medicinal plant of Acanthaceae family widely used for treatment of various ailments and boosting immune systems (Sunarto, 1997). This plant composed of various essential bioactives such as ?-sitosterol and taraxerol that has anti-diabetic (Sangeetha et al., 2013), anti-inflammatory (Yoon et al., 2015) and anticancer properties (Nik Suriani et al., 2014). This plant is highly demanded for raw material used in developing various natural products such as supplements and functional foods. Conventional propagation through cutting is not convenient due to slow growth rate, limited plantlet production and inconsistent production of plant raw material due to external environmental factors such as weather and soil conditions. To ensure continuous supply of this plant, tissue culture technique offers rapid, high, consistent and controlled production of plantlets (Murthy et al., 2014). So far, there are no literatures reporting on tissue culture technique for S. crispus. Micropropagation of other Strobilanthes species such as S. flaccidifolius (Deb and Arenmongla, 2012) and S. cusia (Kabita et al., 2015) is, however, frequently discussed.
Successful micropropagation is controlled by several factors such as growth regulators, media and physical factors. Plant growth regulator, especially cytokinin, plays a role in plant development such as shoot formation and multiplication as well as promotion of cell division and expansion (Mok and Mok, 2001). However, the requirement of growth regulators is reported to be species dependant due to the presence of endogenous hormone in Acanthaceae species, as reported by Thomas and Yochiro (2010) in Justicia gendarussa and Cheruvatur and Thomas (2014) in Rhinacanthus nasutus. Kabita et al. (2015) reported shoots multiplication of S. cusia (Nees) using benzylaminopurine (BAP) while Deb and Arenmongla (2012) used combinations of ?-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and BAP for shoot multiplication of S. flaccidifolius. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the effect of single or combination of cytokinins in culture media for shoot induction from nodal explant of S. crispus. (Copied from article)
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
