The study of CMOS based VCO with active inductor and its design methodology
No full textActive Inductors are useful in reducing the large chip area typically consumed by spiral inductors, as well as providing larger inductance values and higher quality factors that otherwise cannot be achieved by spiral inductors. Integrated inductors find application in many radio frequency (RF) front end integrated circuits, including impedance matching, filtering, biasing and in oscillator circuits. Nonetheless, because of the interdependent relationship of the self-resonant frequency and quality factor it is often difficult to meet desired circuit requirements. Additionally, active devices pose problems of higher power consumption , noise figure and potential instability. This thesis begins with the study of active inductors, the Wu active inductor in particular, and considers tuning methods based on the Wu active inductor topology. Starting with the small-signal model, the emulated inductance and quality factor expressions are derived. Next, the operation of active inductors under large-signal is closely examined. Comparisons between a passive and an active VCO are made. The active inductor based voltage-controlled oscillator (Active VCO) is studied extensively, and the methods of improving the performance under large signal-behavior are discussed. Then a design procedure based on gm/ID methodology is proposed. A Matlab script that can be applied to gyrator-C based active inductors is developed to determine the sizing of the transistors for a desired inductance and resonant frequency. Cadence Virtuoso is used for simulations, and extraction based on an IBM 8RF technology file. 1991 te herdenk. Daardeur het Bothaville aangesluit by die talle ander dorpe
en gemeenskappe/organisasies/instansies wat veral in die jongste twee tot drie
dekades dié verboogde en groeiende historiese bewussyn openbaar.
Aanvanklik is beplan dat publikasie nog in die feesjaar sou geskied, maar dit
was spoedig duidelik: dat dié doelwit nie binne so 'n kort tydsbestek haalbaar
was nie. Finansiele bronne was boonop ook nie voldoende om die
onvoorspelbare eskalerende navorsing te finansier nie en 'n groot deel van die
werk moes noodgedwonge by die reeds druk akademiese programme van die
twee skrywers ingepas word. Hierdie toedrag van sake bet beduidend
vertragend op die projek ingewerk.
Hierdie boek is nie 'n wetenskaplike werk in die normale sin van die woord
nie. Met inagneming van die genoemde beperkinge ten opsigte van tyd en
finansies, is die navorsing wat die boek ten grondslag lê, asook die
bevindinge en gevolgtrekkinge waartoe geraak is, egter ten volle
wetenskaplik-gefundeerd

No full textBij het berekenen van het gedrag van zandsuppleties wordt vaak gebruik gemaakt van de relatief eenvoudige 2-1 lijn theorie, opgesteld door Bakker en uitgebreid door Swart. In deze theorie wordt het gedrag van het zandtransport in de tijd geschematiseerd m.b.v. de constante sy. Deze constante wordt op dit moment bepaald m.b.v. een veelheid van empirische uitdrukkingen. In het afstudeeronderzoek is gepoogd deze constante sy een theoretische onderbouwing te geven. Hiervoor is de theorie gebruiKt van het model Crostran, opgesteld door Stive, Wind en de Vriend. In dit model wordt, uitgaande van de transportformule van Bailard, na berekening van het stroombeeld voor een kust, het tijdsgemiddeld dwarstransport van zand berekend. In het afstudeeronderzoek is allereerst een empirische vergelijking van beide modellen gemaaKt, door een modeltest van Swart na te rekenen met Crostran. Daarna is het evenwichtsprofiel berekend als functie van de golfsteilheid en een dimensieloze valsnelheid van het sediment. Het blijkt, dat de retourstroom langs de bodem, die veroorzaakt wordt door het breken van golven, een zeer belangrijke rol speelt. De golven op diep water brengen sediment naar de kust toe, de brekende golven veroorzaken een transport van de kust af. Bij de brandingsrug treedt er een evenwicht op van deze twee invloeden met het transport door de zwaartekracht. Het berekenen van het evenwichtsprofiel landwaarts van de top van de buitenste brandingsrug vergt nog nader onderzoek. Hierna is een formulering opgesteld, waaruit de tijdconstante TO berekend kan worden. In deze formulering wordt gebruik gemaakt van het transport, dat optreedt bij een kleine afwijKing van het evenwichtsprofiel. De grootte van dit transport geeft een indicatie van de tijd, die nodig is om het evenwichtsprofiel te vormen. Met deze formulering is een aanzet gegeven voor de bepaling van de constante sy m.b.v. een model lering van het golfbeeld.Hydraulic EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience
Exploring a Sufi Tradition of Islamic Teaching: Educational and Cultural Values Among the Sy <i>Tijāniyya</i> of Tivaouane (Senegal)
No full text The author examines the philosophy and practice of Muslim education in the tradition of the Sy family of Tivaouane (Senegal). The focus is on formal educational institutions such as the dahira, or Sufi circles of worship, and the daara, Kur’anic school, which play a major role in the system of education pioneered by the Sy branch of the Tijāniyya. He also examines a third institution, khalifa, or spiritual authority, which continues to play a central role in the Muslim brotherhoods as transmitter of the teachings of the Shaykh. The author shows how these three institutions work together and constantly reshape Sy Tijāniyya (Syèen si in Wolof), how changes in Senegalese society influence and transform the branch, and how the continuous development of neo-Sufi organizations increases the importance of Tijāniyya in a globalized world. </jats:p

No full textBioleaching of a marmatite flotation concentrate with a moderately thermoacidophilic iron-oxidizing bacterial strain (MLY) was investigated in batch experiments. Experimental results showed that the dissolution rate of marmatite was influenced markedly by pH, temperature, pulp density and particle size of ore. The bioleaching of the concentrate by the moderate thermophile was more effective when carried out under the higher acidity and temperature compared with Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. The adapted strain of the moderate thermophile could provide more rapid and complete oxidation of marmatite than its original strain and in the sterile control. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd.
