As per previous research, approximately 50% of colorectal cancer patients develop liver metastasis which is also an important cause of lethality. Migration and invasion enhancer1 (MIEN1) is an important gene, initially investigated as an key regulator of tumor cell migration and invasion. It has been detected in different types of cancers such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, gastric cancer, nonsmall cell lung cancer. However, the role of MIEN-1 in the colorectal cancer metastasis is still unclear and requires further elucidation for the development of potential therapeutics. In the present study we have focused our study on the colorectal cancer cells (CRCs), derived from both human and murine origins (HT29, T84, CT26, Sw620) for in-vitro experiments. Expression analysis was conducted using immunoprecipitation and western blotting to assess MIEN1 levels across different cell lines. Additionally, to determine its role in epithelial mesenchymal transition, migration and proliferation of CRCs, we performed migration and invasion assays, wound healing assay, using human and murine colorectal cancer cells. CRCs of metastatic origin showed enhanced migration and speedy wound healing in comparison to CRCs of primary tumor origin. To further investigate the role of MIEN1 in colorectal cancer metastasis in vivo, we have also developed GFP+luciferase positive CRCs (MIEN1 knockout and wild type). Additionally, series of experiments were conducted to examine MIEN1’s role in colorectal cancer metastasis.     Sayyed Nafees Al-Hussaini, may God have mercy on him, was of high lineage, a great Sufi, a talented poet, a great author, and a professor. His full name was Sayyed Anwar Hussain S/O Sayyed Muhammad Ashraf Ali. Sayyed Nafees Al-Husseini was born on Saturday 13 Dhul-Qi’dah in the year 1351 AH, corresponding to March 11, 1933 AD, in the village of Kahoriala in the Sialkot District. He did not study in Arab Islamic religious schools and was not a graduate of Islamic universities, but God Almighty gave him knowledge, extensive information from Himself, and insight. Sayyed Nafees says that he moved from Faisalabad to Lahore in the month of Zul-Hajj in the year 1370 AH/September 1951 AD. Here, after a short time, I met the writer and calligrapher Taj al-Din, known as Zarrin. Sayyed Nafees used to teach people the art of calligraphy and teach students who longed to teach writing and the art of calligraphy. Sayyed Nafees was a talented poet, and his passion for poetry was innate to him. He started reciting poetry when he was a high school student. He wrote poetry by calling him “Zaidi” and “Nafees.” The subject of his poetry was love for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and love for his family and companions. He published collections of his poetry, “Nafa’is al-Nabi(SAAW)” and “Barg e Gul”.  Sayyed Nafees Al-Hussaini died on February 5, 2008 AD. Abd al-Rashid Qamar says about him: “There is no doubt that Sayyed Nafees al-Hussaini was elected by God. Divine power opened the door to spirituality before him during his writing. According to people of thought and theory, Sayyed was a religious leader.” I hope this article may help the readers to enhance knowledge about the great Sufi, a talented poet and a great author

    Bile spillage during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: Risk factors and increased post-operative morbidity

    Introduction: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has become the “gold standard” for the management of symptomatic cholelithiasis. Bile spillage is common due to perforation during dissection of the gallbladder bed, injury during retraction with grasping forceps and during specimen retrieval. We evaluated the risk factors and presumed that bile spillage increases the risk of immediate post-operative morbidity. Method: 60 Patients of symptomatic cholelithiasis admitted to JNMCH, Aligarh for laparoscopic cholecystectomy from 04/2021 to 09/2021, were prospectively included. We compared those who had bile spillage during the operation to those who did not. Our aim was to find out the risks of bile spillage and rate of early post operative complication due to bile spillage in both the groups. Results: Bile was spilled intraoperatively in 36 patients (60.0%), with hydrops noted in 5 (8.3%) and empyema in 10 (16.6%) of them. In 9 (15%) out of 60 patients, BS was accompanied by stone spillage. Patients with BS were older and were more frequently male. Conversion to open was more likely in operations with BS (14% vs 4%). Bile spillage was associated with a higher risk of postoperative abdominal pain, tenderness, paralytic ileus and SSI rate (8 % vs 2%, p = 0.001) and longer hospital stay (median of 3 vs 2 days, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Bile spillage should be anticipated in presence of risk factors and is associated with increased risk of post operative morbidity. Surgeons should try to avoid it during laparoscopic cholecystectomy
