MABS validation through repeated execution and data mining analysis

Agent Based Modelling is the most interesting and advanced approach for simulating a complex system: in a social context, the single parts and the whole are often very hard to describe in detail. Besides, there are agent based formalisms which allow to study the emergency of social behaviour with the creation and study of models, known as artificial societies. Thanks to the ever increasing computational power, it's been possible to use such models to create software, based on intelligent agents, which aggregate behaviour is complex and difficult to predict, and can be used in open and distributed systems. Data mining is born in the last decades in order to help users in finding useful knowledge from the otherwise overwhelming amount of data available nowadays from the web and the data collected every day by companies. Data Mining techniques can therefore be the keystone to reveal non-trivial knowledge expressed by the initial assumption used to build the micro-level of the model and the structure of the society of agents that emerged from the simulation

The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency of liver disease and its aetiology in a cohort of immigrants. We retrospectively examined the hospital discharge charts of all the immigrant patients presenting at our day hospital from July 2009 to June 2013, and after evaluating the anamnestic, clinical and laboratory data on these charts we identified subjects with liver disease and its various aetiologies. The total sample population consisted of 1218 patients, of whom 112 (9.2%) had a diagnosis of liver disease. More than two-thirds of the latter (67.8%) came from Africa, while 15.2% were from Asia and 17.0% from Eastern Europe. In most patients the disease was related to HBV (44.6%), followed by alcohol (25%) and then HCV or cryptogenic disease (both 15.2%). Forty-six patients had undergone liver biopsy, which showed eight cases of varying degrees of liver steatosis, 29 cases with a variable severity of chronic liver disease, eight cases with a definite picture of liver cirrhosis and one case of alcoholic hepatitis. These data show that a significant proportion of our immigrant population has liver disease and that the most frequent cause is hepatitis B infectio

This work is relevant for the amount of research on vocational-occupational psychopedagogical counseling, but few aimed at interdisciplinary work with people from abroad. The objectives of the study are related to the comparison of conditions and determinants of vocational choice between the society of origin and the receiving country, because the history of each society continues to incorporate migratory flows motivated by the search for opportunities for job insertion, better economic and living conditions for their families. In the theoretical framework, the dimensions are developed: personal, and concepts related to identity, vocation and maturity; social for the transition from the culture of origin to the host country; labor and higher education. On the other hand, the empirical work consists of two parts: first, a comparative study of each stage of the vocational orientation process, between an Argentine person, and a person from Venezuela. Second, a comparative and macro-sociological study was carried out in which vocational goals and motivations were evaluated within the framework of vocational-occupational counseling to 110 participants in a situation of migration and 110 Argentines. Among the results of this research and an analysis of convergences, the population from abroad obtains better scores in most of the scales of the EMVA technique stand out: people from abroad make vocational-occupational decisions, motivated mainly by the reality of their family context and affiliation goals. Therefore, they aspire to professional careers valued prestigiously socially and internationally, as a means of overcoming the economic and academic situation of their parents, repaying their efforts, and contributing to family and transition needs
